Effect: Friday, July 8: Flower Gift - All day, despite the season, flowers drift down from the sky. They’re harmless, beautiful, and smell lovely, but if trainers aren’t careful, they might end up trudging through rosedrifts up to their knees before long.
Swarm: Tuesday, July 12: Spinda
Effect: Friday, July 15 to Sunday, July 17: Worry Seed - Affected characters won’t be able to get any sleep. Does that make your character cranky? Does it damage their brain-to-mouth filter? The effects can last as little or as long as you’d like over this weekend.
Effect/Swarm Double Duty: Friday, July 22: Surf - Large waves appear in all bodies of water, including things like bathtubs and your Sawsbucks drinks (it’s just bean water, you know). Be careful on the ocean, but also, hang ten, dudes! The waves won’t destroy anything, but trainers are going to get wet on this ride. Also, oh god, small jellyfish Pokemon (Tentacool, Frillish, Inkay) happen to be swarming randomly in these bodies of water. GANBATTE, VICTORY ROAD.
Effect: Friday, July 29: Haze - The forecast is misty inside and out on this oddly cool July day. Affected trainers will find it difficult to remember things, whether those happened long ago or just five minutes past. The memories aren’t gone, of course, it’s just…foggy.

[The feed wobbles as it's turned on, and it displays a Sunkern resting in a gap of light between the branches of a shady tree. Its eyes are closed, and it sighs contentedly. The feed then shifts to the holder, a pale, white-haired boy with wide, reddish eyes in a green and yellow striped sweater. He looks nervous, as if he's still not quite used to his own skin yet.]

Um...I have a question. [His brow furrows, and he shifts.] Sunny likes to sleep a lot, but he doesn't act sick. Is he...Pokemon-sick? I don't want him to be sick...he, he's supposed to be my friend, right? So I've got to help him!!

[There's a note of panic in his voice at the last bit. If there's anything he can do to keep a friend from getting sick, he'll do it! Just let him know!]

[Action]

[Asriel can be found on Route 29. His Sunkern, Sunny, has been returned to its Pokeball, because he's just...running around, and jumping, and even taking the time to roll through the tall grass, laughing and scattering Pidgey and Ratatta in his wake.

He's alive. He may not be a monster, but he has a SOUL, he can feel it - it's so warm! - and he's alive and himself and not Flowey and he can stay on the surface, no one's there to stop him!

But uh. Someone might want to keep him from hurting himself, or he might just roll right into you.]

[...why do you seem so familiar...? Sure, Frisk recognizes that sweater, but other kids could be wearing that, too. ...better to take the safe route for now.]

Um...maybe he just likes naps a lot? If he's happy, he's probably feeling okay!

[The words seem to go in one ear and out the other as the boy stares back at the responder, eyes widening. His mouth falls open. His hands shake. It's a full thirty seconds before he can manage to say anything.]

F...Frisk...? [It's breathless, the first time, and the second is louder, tinged with confusion and excitement and relief.] Frisk?!

Asriel...?

[Frisk's eyes go wide, and a few tears start to form.]

It--it's really you?

Frisk...!

[There's tears in Asriel's eyes too, big gooey tears that he smiles through and wipes with the end of his sweater sleeve. After all this time, he's still a crybaby, but...it's Frisk. It's okay if it's Frisk.]

Y-Yeah! I don't...don't know how, but...it's really, really me!

It--it is you! You're here!

[Well, it's not really him, not the monster he ought to be, but he's not a flower and he's here and acting the way he always is at the end, and--]

It's--um, everyone gets turned human here, Mettaton an' Papyrus did, too! And they--they stayed that way, so you won't--

[Thankfully Frisk is interrupted by a curious little Skiddo shoving his nose up under Frisk's hand--who are you talking to trainer, why are you crying?]

Ah--hey, Buddy, come on!

[That gives him reason to pause. Mettaton...and Papyrus? Oh...oh, they won't know who he is, but he knows them. Asriel fidgets, doing his best to keep up his smile (so weird, it feels so weird without a snout, everything's so flat).]

Everyone's human? I...how? How do they stay-

[Oh wow that sure is a little goat with Frisk. Asriel's breath catches in his throat.] W-What is that?

[The scattering of nearby Pokemon should get the attention of one humanized ice Bear, but no, he's intently staring at the Poke'Gear map. Given the next town is days away, he doesn't want to get lost, especially when supplies are limited. Starving and being out in the wild is not exactly his idea of a good time.]

[He's just the right size to be bumped into by a goat-child.]

[Action]

[And bumped he is!]

W-Whoa!

[Asriel comes to an abrupt stop, noticeably less goat-like and more human in appearance. He gets one glance at the person he's rolled into (tall, a lot taller than him) before he squeaks, scrambling to sit up.]

I-I'm sorry! I...did I hurt you? I'm really sorry!

[Small child, meet giant adult, as Ice Bear turns slowly to face Asriel. The Poke'Gear is quickly tucked away into his hoodie pocket, as one hand grabs Asriel gently off the ground. On impulse, he's already dusting grass and dirt off the little boy's shirt.]

"...No. Ice Bear is not hurt." [The boy seems familiar to him, but they've never met before. His small features do remind him of Chloe, so Ice Bear already feels a bit of compassion for the boy.]

"Are you okay?"

[better2do]

[The gentleness is a little strange, considering that he just hit this stranger and was being, upon thinking back, pretty darn reckless. He looks down guiltily.]

U-Um...yeah. I'm sorry.

[You said that already, hun.]

[icebearforprez]

"...No need to apologize."

[His hand quickly brushes off some dirt and grass in Asriel's hair, then takes a step back to make sure there's no visible injuries to the boy.]

"Ice Bear understands the thrill of rolling down hills. Has done it before. Lots of fun."

[better2do]

Oh.

[He doesn't flinch so much as close his eyes at the touch on his head. Nope, he's not injured, and definitely less dirty than he should be.]

I...never got to roll down grassy hills, so...it's really new to me.

"...Why?"

[Maybe he doesn't understand why rolling down a hill would be so difficult, since he's done it before multiple times with his brothers. Then again, he has no idea what kind of history Asriel has.]

"Plenty of hills to roll down. Just have to be careful to not hurt yourself. Or Pokemon."

[better2do]

There aren't any grassy hills in the Underground.

[Snowy hills, sure. Grassy dark swamps, sure. Hot lava seeping through crevices, sure! But sunny, grassy hills that smell like freshness and warmth there are not.]

"Underground? Walking outside isn't difficult."

[Forgive him, Asriel, he has no idea what the monsters have been through.]

"Ice Bear finds this whole world weird. Not familiar. No brothers."

[A sleeping grass type...that's not hard to figure out.]

I think he probably just likes the sun. Grass type Pokemon get their energy from the sun most of the time like plants do. You see how he's in the sunlight, there?

[Asriel squints at that. It...makes sense, seeing as how the only flowers in the Underground grew in the few patches of sunlight that could be found.]

Yeah. But, he sleeps a lot. I only sleep a lot if I'm sick or tired. And, he's a Pokemon plant, not a plant plant, so, he can eat stuff for energy, can't he?

I'm sure he can. My Sawsbuck is a grass type, and sometimes he'll get tired if he's out of the sun for two long depending on what time of year it is.

[Sawsbuck is a bad example, though, since they change their coats with the seasons.]

You could always take him to a Pokemon Center if you're worried, though. But I'm sure he's okay.

[A Sawsbuck...he's still learning, so Asriel tilts his head a little as he takes in this information. He also scoots into the sun and scoops up Sunny in his arms, so the Pokemon is still in the sun but also close to him. The little seed sighs contentedly.]

That's where the Pokemon doctors are, right? I'll take him to one for sure.

[Because knowing the rest of the route he has to travel on, there's sure to be more Pokemon ready to leap from the tall grass itching for a fight.]

I hope there's one close. I wanna know if Sunny's okay for sure, but if...if you think he'll be okay for now, then...

That's right. The nurses working there will know what to do if Sunny really is sick.

Where are you at right now? There are always Pokemon Centers in every town.

Um, I'm in...

[He turns around, as if expecting some sort of sign, but mostly he's just trying to remember.]

A place called...Route 29? But I've been on it for a couple days now. I didn't know roads could be this long.

["On the surface" goes unsaid.]

Oh, you should be getting close to Cherrygrove then. It's been a while since I've been there, but it's around three days or so between New Bark and there. You should be able to take Sunny to that Pokemon Center.

[Kaneki's smile softens a bit.]

Now that I think about it...have you been battling with Sunny at all?

[Asriel frowns a little, looking off to the side.]

A little. If one of the...one of the Pokemon jumps out at us, and we can't run away. But, I don't know if I want him to fight.

Ah...it's alright. That's what Pokemon do around here. Sunny can protect you from wild Pokemon if they decide they want to attack.

[But on the flip side...]

I don't battle all that much either, though. You don't really have to if you don't want to. But if Sunny can weaken something enough, you guys should be able to get away without fighting anymore.
