ALSO, AS PROMPTS FOR YOUR CONSIDERATION: Last month's mini-events!
Effect: Friday, July 8: Flower Gift - All day, despite the season, flowers drift down from the sky. They’re harmless, beautiful, and smell lovely, but if trainers aren’t careful, they might end up trudging through rosedrifts up to their knees before long.
Swarm: Tuesday, July 12: Spinda
Effect: Friday, July 15 to Sunday, July 17: Worry Seed - Affected characters won’t be able to get any sleep. Does that make your character cranky? Does it damage their brain-to-mouth filter? The effects can last as little or as long as you’d like over this weekend.
Effect/Swarm Double Duty: Friday, July 22: Surf - Large waves appear in all bodies of water, including things like bathtubs and your Sawsbucks drinks (it’s just bean water, you know). Be careful on the ocean, but also, hang ten, dudes! The waves won’t destroy anything, but trainers are going to get wet on this ride. Also, oh god, small jellyfish Pokemon (Tentacool, Frillish, Inkay) happen to be swarming randomly in these bodies of water. GANBATTE, VICTORY ROAD.
Effect: Friday, July 29: Haze - The forecast is misty inside and out on this oddly cool July day. Affected trainers will find it difficult to remember things, whether those happened long ago or just five minutes past. The memories aren’t gone, of course, it’s just…foggy.
Swarm: Sunday, July 31: Illumise and Volbeat

[action] [[sup nerd]]
The new clothes from -- his? bag hardly received a glance over before he pulled them on; anything is better than numbers printed across his back, but the problem still remains that the clothing is in his possession.
It seems his best option is a nearby sound, perhaps in which he can sink the jumpsuit and forget about it. His plan is delayed, however, by someone already in the water.
He hesitates at first to approach her, a voice in the back of his mind screaming that even apparent young girls could be a threat, but... when she holds herself and starts to cry, he assumes the worst for her sake and his instinct for self-preservation wears down. Carefully, he wades into the water just conspicuously enough to make some noise and announce his presence as he comes up behind her.]
Hey, uh... What's wrong? Are you hurt?
Re: [action] [[rude nerd.]]
[Still, she wasn't exactly subtle about her 'nature.' Her tattoos seemed to burn hot against her skin, despite the fact that they had remained curiously dormant since she had arrived. Different as this world seemed to be, who was to say it didn't have its own lore about sirens]
[And she'd had enough of power mad megalomaniacs trying to take advantage of her abilities for one lifetime.
I'm not... I'm not hurt... [Like that, she adds mentally, though her mouth remains shut.]
It's... It's okay, you do not have to worry. I'm sorry to have troubled you.
no subject
Hey, I'm not gonna hurt you.
[He keeps his distance although he doesn't quite believe her. She certainly doesn't seem okay, but maybe it isn't his business to butt into, regardless of intentions.]
's no trouble. Sorry for scaring you. Just... wanted to see if I could help. I'll leave you alone.
no subject
I hope I don't sound too pessimistic in saying that you probably can't... [She offers a weak smile, doing her best to reassure the man.] In any case, I can't really say why I am so upset.
She's alive, after all. For the first time in ages, she's breathing and moving all on her own. There was no weakness, no insistent cravings for a drug that would rot her from the inside.
I'm sorry. This is just...very strange. I am not sure how to feel.
no subject
Strange?
[The word feels like a quiet echo, even coming out of his own mouth. Strange how? Waking up in an unfamiliar house after the hell he's just been through is "strange," but surely the same thing didn't happen to this girl. He's been wrong before, but she definitely doesn't look... troubled enough to have come from the same place he did.]
What's strange, exactly? 'f you don't mind my asking.
no subject
What do you think of this place? It's quite... fantastic, wouldn't you say?
[She shakes her head, retreating into her thoughts. Surely in a world of magical transport and unearthly beasts, the thought of resurrection wasn't so unbelievable.]
Do you think it's possible to... be reborn, I suppose the word might be?
no subject
[As of yet, he's blissfully unaware of the strange creatures running around; even the one in the little sphere on his belt.
Her question takes him by surprise a bit. It's a deep subject, one he isn't quite sure how to approach, and one that's a little too fresh and close to home for comfort.]
Reborn... religiously, or morally, or somethin'? I'm still tryin' t' figure that one out for myself.
no subject
[Of course, without the exposure to the more unbelievable elements of their realm, admitting the truth wouldn't be any easier.]
I mean... reborn in a literal sense.
no subject
Not in my experience. No.
no subject
I'm sorry. I did not mean to make you uneasy...
[Of course, now she's left to wonder if it's even a discussion worth having. Nice as it would be to talk about everything she was feeling, it wouldn't be feasible if she couldn't even talk about where it came from.]
Please, forget I said anything.
no subject
Don't worry about it. It was my fault. Sorry to've bothered you.
no subject
Instead, she turns away, returning to the place he had found her in.
no subject
Shit.
[What the fuck is that thing? It looks like a bird, but... not. Did he have that on him the whole time? He starts to grasp for it, though it's well beyond his reach. The creature doesn't seem too eager to go flying back to him, anyway, and chooses to flutter in front of the stranger a bit longer. Finally, it flaps up and settles atop her head with a coo of Blu blu blu.
Murphy stares for a few more seconds, and swallows.]
Uh... I think that's mine? Sorry...
C'mon, get off her.
[Yeah, this Swablu's going nowhere.]
no subject
It's... it's alright.
[Her gaze turns back to the man. A quizzical brow raises above her blue eyes, and a small, reassuring smile spreads across her lips.]
I think everyone has one. I woke up with one too. [Lifting her hand as carefully as she can, Angel motions to the small, sleeping sheep in a nearby patch of shade. They seem to be harmless, if a little over-exuberant.
no subject
Uh... What are they? How'd they get so... [Weird.]
[With a sigh, he shakes his head.]
I'm not... sure how to get it off you. Uh... Here, birdie?
no subject
Don't you want to go back to your owner? [Given the man's discomfort with the creature's presence, she isn't entirely sure that she's chosen her words right. As far as she could tell, they were pretty dedicated beasts, so surely, at the very least, the bird would agree with her statement. It doesnt seem to influence the bird's decision, instead opting to remain perched within her hair]
[Wiling to admit defeat for the time being, Angel turns her attention back to the man, managing a smile as she does.
Like I said... This place is beyond the imagination.
no subject
[The creature being mostly recognizable, but different enough to be weird is a little unsettling, but it doesn't exactly seem aggressive. Inconvenient, on the other hand...]
One sec...
[He thinks to pull his bag around and reach inside, remembering that that woman had said she packed him trail mix. After producing the package from the shoulderbag, he opens it and picks out some raisins and seeds and offers them in an open palm.]
C'mon, birdie, I got this great food for you.
[The Pokemon opens an eye to peek at the morsels, and starts to unfold its wings, but decides this is more effort than it's worth, chirps out another Blu and yawns.]
no subject
I think we are in it for the long haul.
[Still laughing to herself, Angel takes a few steps forward. Her dress hangs a little more heavily against her as she moves, now weighed down by the soaked hem. She pays it no mind as she edges closer to her companion, far too concerned with each careful step she takes. Tripping over a rock and tumbling into the water wouldn't do any of them any good.
How about I bring it to you? [She steps onto the shore, careful to not come any closer to him. He had been so eager to leave earlier, that she's not about to make him uncomfortable by coming too close.
no subject
Yeah, that... works for me.
[His expression twists into a wince; hasn't he bothered this girl enough? How is she taking it in stride? Normally, he'd be well chased off by now, with or without his little "friend."]
no subject
Don't you want to go see your Papa?
[She offers Murphy an apologetic smile, still extremely aware of how presumptuous she was being. All she wants is to free the bird from his head so he can be on his way. He's made it clear enough that he doesn't plan on sticking around much longer, after all.
no subject
God.
[He's still a little shaken up about the awkward situation, and a bit over her choice of wording, but he keeps his head down even when he glances back up at her.]
Sorry for all the trouble, Miss. Really...
no subject
I should be the one apologizing. I did not mean to make you so uncomfortable.
[One hand falls to her side, while the other hovers in the air still. After a moment of thought, Angel reaches out, stroking cloud-creature's head.]
My name is Angel, by the way.
no subject
You didn't do anything wrong.
[The Swablu looks up from its food, fluffing its feathers and peeping at the girl again.
Murphy still isn't quite convinced he should be here, but she doesn't seem as upset as she did a few minutes ago. He shouldn't make it worse again by being abrasive.]
Murphy. Nice to meet you.
[To his own surprise, he actually means that. He can't remember the last time he did.]
no subject
[She holds his gaze for a moment longer, smile small, but genuine. Despite their rough start, it feels good to at least have someone to talk to. Especially face to face.]
I truly do hope I didn't upset you. I know it's... an odd subject to bring up.
This time, she doesn't dare push the subject any further. It could come naturally, if it came at all.
no subject
[His circumstances aren't exactly common, after all. But then again, maybe hers aren't, either.]
Sounded important to you, though.
