JOHTO | and | KANTO

ALSO, AS PROMPTS FOR YOUR CONSIDERATION, and in the spirit of Halloween: August's GHOST TRICK event!

O-Bon festival: The streets are lined with NPC-run stalls for food, games, and the assorted tchotchkes of every summer festival you’ve ever seen in your animes! There’s Goldeen Scoop, heaping cones of Swirlix Candy, Test Your STRENGTH (there are two different machines for people and Pokémon; HM04 not required); basically, if you can think of it, it’s there. There will also be a yukata rental stall if you want to go full hog on the cultural side of things. Ecruteak boasts a small stage where the Kimono Girls give a short performance once every two hours; the festivities in Lavender Town are a little quieter, but they also have Haunter-shaped ice cream treats. When you lick them, they Lick you!

On the last evening of the festival in either location, there will be a large bonfire and traditional bon-odori dance in which everyone is welcome to participate. In Lavender Town only, they also set paper lamps afloat in the water past the cliffs.

Who you gonna call?: Remember “The Ghost of Maiden’s Peak”? Well, some of the local Gastly, Duskull, and Yamask seem to have gotten it into their heads that this kind of tomfoolery is somehow good medicine. If your trainer had someone in their life, someone now dead, that they have unresolved business with, these ghosties may take it upon themselves to play a little dress-up and follow your trainer around in the guise of said dead person until the issue is resolved. It’s their way of saying thank you for all the spiritual appeasement of the festival.

These ghosts won’t speak; Pokémon don’t talk, after all. So yes, your trainer is going to be followed around by some silent echo of their past who will not leave them alone.

Or, of course, write your own!

[well, feats of strength against people sounds boring. he's way stronger than people. pokemon, though? that sounds like a lot more fun.]

I'll take all comers! Unless you lot think your monsters aren't man enough to face off against a Baratheon! [Orys, his incredibly fat tepig, is leering and jumping around him, acting as hype man.

after, once he's had his ass soundly handed to him by a poliwrath, he'll be sitting off to the side, away from the hubbub of the festival, drowning his sorrows in a bottle of wine. (which isn't sold here. so he must have brought it with him. how was he carrying it?????) Orys is sitting next to him, visibly concerned.]

Bloody blue frog... Was just tired out, is all. Could've beaten it. Years back... Here, lad, join me. Not any fun drinking alone. [he tries to make the Tepig drink. it just shakes its head.] Orys! Listen to your master!

[It's probably for the best that Moses wasn't around when the challenge was being put up. It could have gone one of two ways: he would have either politely declined and got himself dragged into a fight anyway, or he wouldn't be able to help himself and he'd actually take him on. Both scenarios probably wouldn't have had favorable outcomes for either party, but least of all Moses when his Pokemon are still pretty young or under-leveled.

Still, he finds himself slowing as he passes by, his Mareep trotting near his ankles. By now he's crafted himself a very crude, makeshift staff from a tree branch. It's not his own, but it will do...and he really looks more like a shepherd now than he did when he first got here.]

Is your friend there not behaving well?

[He's teasing, of course. Orys looks to be perfectly patient with his trainer, bless him.]

Like a bloody ingrate, is how he's behaving... Probably not a fine idea for him to drink, anyway. He needs to be in top form when we get back to fighting tomorrow!

Doesn't look like you're the type to care for such things. [looks him up and down. like 20% judgmentally.] Are you the type to drink? Leaving a man to drink alone would be a cruel thing.

[Yeah, no...Moses can't imagine offering Pokemon alcohol to be wise, given what they can do. As for that question, Moses seems to ponder it for a moment as his grip shifts on his walking stick.]

It depends on what you are drinking, sir.

Wine! Couldn't tell you the vintage-- or much else about it, really. Made of grapes. Probably. Some sort of fruit. Gets you drunk as anything else.

[king bob seal of approval.]

[That's got to be as authentic as anything else, doesn't it? And while Moses obviously isn't going to drink himself into a stupor, he does get the distinct feeling this man could use some company that wasn't a Pokemon.]

I'm surprised you were able to find it. Many of the drinks I've come across here are ones I don't recognize.

[What is soda, that mysterious liquid.]

Ah, so you're from a foreign land as well? More foreign than everyone else's, I mean. It seems like, for most here, the contraptions and wizardry going on here is second nature.

[a shrug] As for me, I'll be lucky if I ever fully learn to use the fancy privies here.

You and me both.

[Don't even get him started on indoor plumbing.

Moses will find a seat somewhere near where King Bob is sitting, his Mareep hopping up into his lap like she's meant to be there.]

I am from some place that is...very different from this one.
killedbyapig: (my dear my dear)

Mine's entirely different. If we'd creatures like this back home, I'd be hunting them for sport. [scratches an unperturbed orys behind the ear.] And even some of the smallest buildings here are larger than our castles! If you'd told me a place like this existed, I would've thought you mad.

Is that right...

[Well, it seems like coming across this man was a good thing after all.]

Could you tell me what else your home is like?
