Route 1:

AAAAAGH, HEEEELP!

[And poor Twilight's being chased around a flock of Taillow, her poor Porygon racing behind her. Leading the pack is a Taillow that has a bump on its noggin. It looks like whatever Twilight and Porygon did to get its attention has caused her to do her best Ash Ketchum impression.

Thankfully, no bikes are around, but she's hopping onto a tree to hide from the birds.]

Viridian City

[After everything that's happened from Pallet to Viridian, Twilight's made it to the first city along the way. And despite being fit enough to handle running, all the walking has made her feet hurt badly.]

I... I need to relax, Porygon. Give me a few minutes, okay?

PORY!

[And Twilight removes her shoes and socks and sticks her feet in a nearby lake.]

...ahhhh...

[Flock of Taillow? No problem. Starlight would just...

Oh wait, she had no more magic anymore. That sucked. But, what she did have however was something better as she released her two Pokemon from its ball.]

Togepi! Hoothoot!

[Togepi and Hoothoot appeared in twin flashes of light as Starlight pointed at the flock.]

Togepi, Metronome! Hoothoot, Gust!

PORY?

Huh?

[Twilight peeks out to see a familiar face and her Pokemon dealing with the flock of Taillow.]

Wait, that's... Starlight?

Hoothoot, Sand Attack, and Togepi combine Metronome with it!

[Together, the two Pokemon kicked up twinned gusts of Sand Attack, blinding the Taillow as they began to scatter, agitated.]

Now's your chance, Twilight!

Ah... r-right. Porygon, Tackle!

PORY!

[And the computerized Pokemon tackles the lead Pokemon, leading to Twilight to (limpwristedly) toss a Pokeball at it, ultimately capturing it.]

Ah... I... I got it!

[With the Pokemon scattering, Starlight encouraged their exit with a few well placed gusts before Hoothoot flew back to her side and landed on her shoulder, along with Togepi who bounced up into her arms.]

You two did good. I'm glad.

[Looking over to Twilight, she smiled.] Hey, Twilight. Nice to see you again.

It's good to see you, too. Though, I wish it wasn't in danger again...

I know right? What on Equestria was that all about? Did you throw a rock at the lead Pokemon or something?

[Considering everything, it could have happened.]

Erm... eheheheh...

[Yeah.]

Twilight! Why would you do that?

It doesn't seem like it should have been the right idea you know.

I know, I know. I got desperate and it was taunting me.

But you're supposed to battle with a Pokemon, instead of just throwing rocks at it.

[Starlight shook her head with a sigh, but a little amused grin as well.]

Try not to do that again.

I know, I'm sorry.

[Twilight let out a small sigh before grinning a bit]

At least I caught one?

Yeah, there is that.

Maybe I should stick with you, just to make sure you don't get into trouble.

You sure? I mean, maybe I can...

...

No, I think you should tag along.

Sounds like a plan then.

So you were planning on heading up Route 1 then?

Uh-huh. Viridian is up first, so I'd rather get there as fast as possible.

All right. We can probably make good time then if we make sure to go straight on through.

[Checking her PokeGear, Starlight added,] Viridian's Gym is the last one on the stop mind you if you were thinking of tackling it. I'm not sure if it accepts challengers fresh out of Pallet Town.

Wait... it's the first stop yet it's last in challenging? Why would they put such a thing here?

I think the idea is to make a loop of the region. Look at the map.

[Showing Twilight her PokeGear, she exapanded the map.]

See? If we follow the routes, we make a circle, and then end up back at Viridian City.

Huh. Still doesn't make sense, but I can see what they were going for now.

Maybe it's to encourage travel?

Hmm, it just might. It just seems inefficient to me, that's all.

[Starlight grinned a little as she nudged Twilight.]
