Then would not the opposite make sense as well? That, by your logic, dragon traits can manifest in ways otherwise not obvious, nor truly draconic at all, as in the Exeggutor's case, while still being a dragon. Yet, its traits could solely be explained by being grass type, really. Viewed thus: Charizard by all means makes sense.

After all, if your parameter for what is or is not a dragon allows for that which looks naught like the creatures, then should you not likewise accept those that bear resemblence need not be classified as such?

As for the idioms, psychic types are effective against and resistant to poison types. Are you familiar with the idiom "mind over matter"?
