Meanwhile, Lazzo seems to have found a comfortable spot to hang onto--thankfully(?) his toes are sticky enough to hang onto bare skin without using claws, or this might be a lot more prickly.

She absolutely did not interact with society long enough to get her hands on a map, this stupid bitch just got real excited about the prospect of rummaging around a pitch black cave for a little while. Hence why it takes a beat of consideration for her to answer his question.]

I want to see what the other route's like. Maybe it's more exciting than the ones that led up here.

The Mudbray, meanwhile, trots up to stare expectantly at Jinx. His trainer is busy petting your starter, so guess whose turn it is for pets!! Millennial Tree nods at him. "He is; Earth Colt was by my side when I arrived. I assume the same was true of yourself and Amalthea?"

Capturing still images... like a reflection in a mirror, but frozen in time, perhaps? I think I can understand that, yes, and the art form it must be to preserve the beauty of the world, albeit in a different way than the painter trying to recreate it from scratch. How marvelous! If you can find these photographies, I would be overjoyed to see them.

What a strange thing to be an insult - although I suppose I understand it to a degree, as there is a certain kind of person who values action over thought or introspection, and perhaps would take offense at their pursuit in what they view as excess. I am glad it has lost that implication in your time and place, though. There is much to be said about a culture by what words it deems insult and what it deems praise.

[ She enjoyed traditional art above all, but she was fond of all forms- and being the perfectionist she is, she would like to say she was fairly skilled with a camera. Maybe someday she'd be able to show him her own work. ]

We do seem to be well spoiled for choice, here, turned out on our own with little in the way of direction, much like a youth leaving the house of their parents for the first time and venturing into the world. [ He glances back at 'mom's house, and thinks about how on the nose that was. ] Though I have gathered that this place specifically is called Pallet Town, from passing conversations. A strange name for a town, but very quaint!

You'd think that with this being a... hub, I guess, for people arriving here it might be a bit bigger, or something.

[ Then again, it's exactly as put-together and ready for oddities as Jump City is ready for dealing with the influx of independent or emancipated teenagers... which is to say, it's not asking questions and meddling. So not very, in many ways. ]

Pallet Town, huh... Like a painter's pallet, maybe? Something poetic about a starting point or something. I don't know, I'm honestly just guessing. [ And yet. ]

Perhaps! I think, maybe, it would be bigger if it had been built with the expectation that travelers from distant lands would arrive here, as port towns and those settlements along trade routes tend to be. But it seems we've simply been dropped here by the whims of the Fates, rather than by any mortal design. And with the whole world before us to explore, I don't see many choosing to settle here permanently and cause it to grow that way.

It is very fitting, though. Poetic, like you said. I can't help but wonder if that aspect, at least, was deliberate on someone's part.

"Ah... I suppose that could be a risk here." No, he fully had not thought of that even though getting a cold from being cold is definitely literally how it works where he's from. Caring for a body unaffected by his long-cultivated power seems like it may become... complicated.

He looks around at the surrounding shops, up and down the streets. "Most of these buildings are used for selling items, are they not...?" So there should be one selling something warmer than what he has. Which... is not going to be saying much.

"Perhaps; it would only make sense that they have some kind of affinity for those they're paired to." Or maybe he's thinking of combi bonuses the Pets that seem to bond so easily to specific Cookies back home. But, hey, not like he could be blamed for seeing a resemblance.

... Maybe. Then again, maybe I'm also expecting too much- this feels like a dream world almost, so maybe it's dumb to expect it to run by the logic that I'm used to.

[ Granted, that could also be her disconnect with small towns- she's been a city girl all her life, after all, so this tiny little village with it's literal background music was almost jarring, even without the circumstances. ]

Still, she can't help but wonder why a unicorn for a teenage criminal? Sure, she'd helped Kid Flash, but she's pretty sure that doesn't make up for everything else she's done. If she even wants to make up for it at all.

Fifteen. Millennial Tree Cookie is very aware, often intensely so, of how short some beings' lifespans are - but sometimes learning what a brief time a specific individual has lived strikes him all the same.

He laughs quietly, finally standing upright again. "I suppose there is that to take into account. But what means do we have to seek out those answers more quickly?"

"Well, before... this-" And she makes a grand gesture in the air, because one cannot so easily gesture to 'being transported to another universe'- "-one of my hobbies was analyzing symbolism in stories... but it feels weird applying that to life."

She's going to stay crouched a bit longer, because the horses need doting upon and she might be tsundere about it but she's happy to comply. Amalthea, at the least, is happy to have her close by and leans upon her shoulder with all her weight... which is kind of a lot, as she's a baby horse, and yet not enough to truly make Jinx budge.

It does seem to have some of that sort of quality to it, although, I must admit my own dreams are never quite like this. But perhaps I am but a figment of your or someone else's imagination, whose own knowings and experiences are but the backdrop of the wider play at hand.

[ He says this with utter seriousness, and even seems to pause and consider it himself for a moment. ]

Or perhaps this world is just very quaint and very strange, and we should enjoy it for what it is. Would you like to get up and walk with me, for a while? I heard tell that there is an orchard at the edge of town, and I should very much like to see it.

Though she does decide if the subject comes up again, she'll be a bit more against the idea. At his question, however, she gives him a little smile. Weird, nice folk always were welcome with her. Standing up and brushing her legs off, Jinx stretches wide before settling again. ]

Most of the other Rockets she's met have been, while not identical, very much cut from the same cloth. That guy, like this guy, stood out some.

There's not much momentum involved in doubling over because some - let's be honest here - total asshole just punched you. Beau's still intending to leverage the shift of balance involved to throw Jules deeper into the room when the...screaming lizard whatsit charges.

She was not expecting that, and releases Jules abruptly to dodge out of the way of the incoming creature. "Okay, two on one."

Someone has clearly not discovered her Pokemon yet. Which is really probably much better for said Pokemon, all things considered.

"Jules?" he guesses. "He's another conscript like us, yeah. He doesn't look like much, but he's invaluable when it comes to cybercrime." He pauses for a moment, looking her over thoughtfully. "Do you have computers where you come from? In the machine sense and not the person who does math sense."
