[Joke's on him. But she's remaining mostly cautious and guarded for the time being, until she can figure out exactly what is going on.]

Is that what these creatures are called, Pokemon? And are they all as intelligent as Sadiki appears to be? [They enjoy battle? Sounds... strange to her, but she's certainly seen odder things in her short lifetime.]

Winning glory doesn't... sound like something I'm too interested in. But you said there's other paths? Can you really just do whatever you want here? [Sounds fake.]

Right. Some people are breeders---they encourage different Pokémon to breed, and through that they make the species stronger. Others train their Pokémon to use their powers to dazzle people visually, and tell stories.

You could study nature, or work at a farm, or film Staryutube videos. Nobody's stopping you. Well...the Jennies will stop you if you commit crimes, so I don't recommend stealing other people's Pokémon.

[ Someone wants to see what Kaiba's up to! A very large...walking slug-like creature squeezes into the frame, a smiling lavender creature with steely silver eyes and a large silver shell on his back. He slings an arm around Kaiba and cheers, waving at the screen. Kaiba sighs and tolerates this. ]

This is my partner, King. He's a dragon as strong as steel and protects my smaller Pokémon. They all have their own personalities and strengths.

[To make the species stronger? So it's a lot like how breeders back home with cattle and the like were, that makes sense to her. Pick out the desirable traits and try to keep them going. It's a little weird when she thinks about it in other terms, but that thought is quickly pushed to the back of her mind.

She quickly hides a laugh behind her hand, as if she'd be the person to willingly commit a crime.] Oh, trust me, I have no intentions on causing trouble unless absolutely necessary! [Which doesn't seem to be much of a threat here, since the only fights she's had to do were with her Pokemon against others. Which now makes way more sense to her.

King causes her to pause for a moment, head tilting a bit as she regards her screen. That's... a dragon? Not any kind of dragon she's familiar with, but this place already seems odd by comparison. She does smile in turn and waves back to the Pokemon.]

Nice to meet him, then! I hadn't thought he'd be a dragon, but this place has already surprised me enough with what seems to be what. Though protecting someone is always a pretty noble trait, so that sounds about right.

[ Kaiba grins. ]

It is noble. I've always admired dragons...he was a little slime ball when we met, but he's surprised me. He's as majestic as my Blue Eyes from home.

[His Blue Eyes, huh? Well, now he has her curious as to how someone can own a dragon.]

They change shapes? Though, if I may ask, what kind of dragon was your Blue Eyes? [Is it a loaded question? Maybe.]

Right. Most Pokémon eventually evolve into a stronger form at least once as they grow, but only if they want to. My friend's slime ball decided to stay small and cute---King, you're fine!

[ Kaiba has to lean over and pat his poor offended dragon. He can answer the Blue Eyes question, though. He reaches for his pocket and withdraws a familiar card by touch alone, displaying the art proudly. Maybe she'll recognize it...? ]

She's always been with me.

Huh. I suppose that is their choice and if you aren't fighting, then there might be little reason to become stronger... [It makes sense to her at least.

Also King, please, you are absolutely precious and it is not a knock against you in the slightest. The card causes her pause and a moment of recognition. That... that is certainly very familiar. Not what this card is around it, but there's not mistaking it. It's not as if she has always had the dragon or anything.]

I... [She trails off for a moment, not entirely sure what to say next. How does she even address this? Everything is so familiar and yet not. This is clearly not someone she actually knows, but she knows about the sealing and how and just...]

How? [That probably makes no sense without context.]

[ That reaction is...not as surprising as it could've been. Kaiba is sure now that she's connected to the person he hazily half-remembers. But how to say it, when he's not sure what he believes himself.

When he speaks, his voice is soft, and King is half-clinging to his arm. ]

...You've seen this dragon?

[He knows something she doesn't, she can't help but catch onto that tonal change really quickly. If she wasn't good at doing that, she wouldn't have remotely have survived as long as she had.

Slowly she nods to the question, not really sure how to answer it herself. It would probably sound ridiculous to someone not already familiar with the entire... thing. But if he has that, then he might have some passing knowledge and she cannot at all that it seems more than coincidental.]

There's no way I wouldn't have. Not when that is something that I've had to deal with for as long as I can remember.

[ Deep breath. ]

I don't usually put much stock in these ancient stories myself, but.

My name is Seto Kaiba. I've been told that I'm allegedly reincarnated from someone who was close to a woman whose soul was this dragon, but. It's ridiculous, right?

[Ancient stories. Is that what they had become now? She's slightly amused by that particular fact, time continues on whether you're engaged with it or not, it seemed.

Seto Kaiba. And reincarnated? Luckily she's keeping herself calm and taking everything in relative stride. It sounds ridiculous, certainly, but given everything else...

It's not the weirdest thing she's ever heard of.]

It may sound ridiculous, but I did know of a man that went by your name, long ago if you're calling it an ancient story at this point. And that's correct, that dragon was... or is, I guess, what were called ka beasts. That dragon was, or is, I'm not sure at... this point how it works in a place like this, both a reflection of and part of myself. [Whether that card, not being the tablets she's familiar with, has the same type of power, that is the part that has her genuinely curious.]

Guess I'm not as impressive like this and not like that, huh?

...The priest. I heard. I'm not much like what I've heard of him, which is why it's so hard to believe that part.

But I believe you. And our strength in this world comes from our Pokémon anyway, so don't worry about it. Looks like you're starting with a strong partner.

Reincarnation does not necessarily mean you are the exact same person as where you came from, so I can't say I'm surprised to hear that. Set... the priest, had more than his fair share of reasons to be how he was. [There's a faint hint of a smile, though it seems more forced than anything else.]

I just hope it helped.

[Right, that's depressing. She quickly latches onto the Pokemon conversation instead, slowly nodding.]

Sadiki is already quite attached to me and seems more than happy to get into a fight if he needs to. A troublemaker, but that seems to be my luck.
