[Maybe a part of him had decided to though it out because he'd felt that he'd deserved whatever came out of that night. IV hates those scars. He hates how they make people look at him, stare, even if they somehow happen not to know who he is. But more than that they are a brand, a constant reminder of what happened that day - the whole truth and nothing but the bare, naked, ugly truth of it. In a way it was only those scars, the bland obvious, physical marks, that had truly made him IV rather than Thomas, a bumbling angry fool who'd pretended to be something he's not, for reasons he only thought he understood.
