1. Network

I kinda miss my scooter...
Should I look into getting a licence here? I haven't been paying attention to actual roads besides the routes trainers use.
So yeah, how's the driving situation here if you're not going all terrain?

[It's the edge of a stream/small river somewhere deep in Viridian forest. Sitting there is a young man with silver hair in a weird half-bowlcut type thing and an Eevee just laying on his head. The Pokemon is humming some tune to itself, while the young man is apparently studying a piece of paper while a fishing rod is set next to him, propped up by a few strategically placed sticks.

The Eevee notices you first, smiling and giving a happy little cry as a greeting. Meanwhile, his fishing rod has clearly caught something, with the way it's being pulled. Approach him to warn him? Try to steal his catch? Just pet his Eevee? Something else entirely???? Up to you!]

3. Wild Card. Reply however you want.

it's not like there's car dealerships lying around in magical animal land

I don't see why not. Cars aren't any more advanced than other stuff they have.

It's just weird if they really skipped to teleporters before cars, is all I'm saying.

But maybe I will get a Pokemon I can ride.

obviously they CAN make cars and some people have them but they just don't mass produce them like most places do

somebody said it had to do with not wanting traffic of any kind to disrupt pokemon

because everything has to be done for the benefit of pokemon

you got options! hell, i gotta bunch of fire unicorns, got a magic leafy goat, a friggin dragon...

those are all way cooler than cars

Hey, I'm good with anything that gives me a break from full on capitalism, personally, so... I'm not sweating the small stuff if I don't have to.

I was actually thinking Stantler, but cool, I have options there too.

[A forest full of grass types is probably not the best place to train a young Totodile, but then, just walking through the forest, allowing Farida to burn off energy by going snapping after random Butterfrees while Armin has a chance to study the flowers and plants they encounter on their walk is also very nice. Perhaps even nicer than training would be.

It's Farida who first notices the duo, coming to a halt, which has Armin stopping as well. And if it wouldn't have been for the rod, he might have steered her on and passed them by. It's pretty rude, after all, to interrupt someone when they are relaxing on their own. But as it is, the stranger's rod is in danger of getting pulled into the water, and that would just be a shame.]

Ah, excuse me. I think you have a bite.

[Yu's head snaps up to look up at Armin.] Huh? Oh! [He scrambles to grab the rod and try to reel the Pokemon in. Sadly, it's not long until whatever it was frees itself and swims away, letting Yu reel in nothing.] Ah, crap...

[He sighs in resignation and stands up to look at Armin properly, his Eevee sliding off his head to approach and greet Farida.] Thanks, though. Guess I got distracted.

[Farida runs his claws down her scales for a moment, making sure no twigs or dirt have dared to stick to her before she greets the Eevee with a cheerful chirp. Yes, hello there.]

[Armin meanwhile gives Yu an understanding smile. Don't worry. He's been there. Bringing a book on a fishing trip is a guarantee he won't catch anything.]

It happens to all of us from time to time.

[yu_hoo]

[He chuckles sheepishly at that.] Haha, yeah, I suppose so. [He extends his hand to Armin.] I'm Yu Narukami, by the way.

[Eevee, meanwhile, lets out a happy noise of his own before licking Farida's snot. Yes hello, you're a cool Pokemon, friend!]

Armin Arlert. [Armin shakes his offered hand, before giving Yu a curious look.] Forgive me if I am completely off base here, but are you perhaps new here?

[Farida jolts back a bit at the lick to her snout, reaching up to furiously scrub her nose clean with her paws, making sure there isn't a single smudge left on her scales. Hey there stranger, don't you dare ruin the perfection that is her.]

[yu_hoo]

[Eevee blinks in confusion and cocks his head to the side when Farina reacted to his lick. Why didn't you like that, friend?

Yu nods with another chuckle.] That obvious, huh? Yes, I am. Have you been here for long?

You learn to tell after a while. You can usually pick out the newcomers pretty easily. [It gets harder with people who have been here for years unless they really keep to their own world's habits or style of dress for some reason.] I've been here nearly two years myself.

[When Farida is very certain her snout is sparkly clean again, the little priss drops her paws, gesturing at her scales. Do you know how much time it takes her sanding a scrubbing her scales until they look absolutely perfect? It is a lot of time, sir a lot of time.]

[He lets out a low whistle at the revelation of how long Armin had been there...] Two years... That can't be easy... [Wondering what going on at home is enough to keep him up at night as is, he can't imagine how it gets after years.

Eevee, on the other hand, feels a bit insulted. He's a clean Pokemon, thank you very much! He even opens his mouth, tongue all out, just so Farida can take a look. See? See? All clean! No need to freak out.]

Ah, no, it's really not that bad. Actually, this place is much nicer than the world I come from.

[It helps that Armin knows time doesn't move back home, so there is nothing exactly going on. But really, the contrast between his home world and this world was just too great. When you come from a world where you are an easy snack for giant naked titans, any place is great, really.

Farida shakes her head quite stubbornly. Mouths are icky and filled with lots of spit and stuff! There is no way that is clean. Just no way at all.]

[Yu is trying to imagine what kind of world Armin must have come from. His mind is going all over the place, so he decides to just quit and not pry.

He's not sure what to say to that still, but...] I see... I suppose making a life here isn't so hard, then? [That should do it. It's neutral and lets him know more, so that's always a plus.

Eeevee just frowns at Farida and looks away indignantly. Fine, be that way. He's not going to pay attention to you anymore.]
