ALSO, AS PROMPTS FOR YOUR CONSIDERATION: Last month's mini-events!
Effect: Friday, July 8: Flower Gift - All day, despite the season, flowers drift down from the sky. They’re harmless, beautiful, and smell lovely, but if trainers aren’t careful, they might end up trudging through rosedrifts up to their knees before long.
Swarm: Tuesday, July 12: Spinda
Effect: Friday, July 15 to Sunday, July 17: Worry Seed - Affected characters won’t be able to get any sleep. Does that make your character cranky? Does it damage their brain-to-mouth filter? The effects can last as little or as long as you’d like over this weekend.
Effect/Swarm Double Duty: Friday, July 22: Surf - Large waves appear in all bodies of water, including things like bathtubs and your Sawsbucks drinks (it’s just bean water, you know). Be careful on the ocean, but also, hang ten, dudes! The waves won’t destroy anything, but trainers are going to get wet on this ride. Also, oh god, small jellyfish Pokemon (Tentacool, Frillish, Inkay) happen to be swarming randomly in these bodies of water. GANBATTE, VICTORY ROAD.
Effect: Friday, July 29: Haze - The forecast is misty inside and out on this oddly cool July day. Affected trainers will find it difficult to remember things, whether those happened long ago or just five minutes past. The memories aren’t gone, of course, it’s just…foggy.
Swarm: Sunday, July 31: Illumise and Volbeat

Still, he stands, unsure why that's so shocking, though perhaps because she's so old herself, it's weird to see someone his age? He's not a baby any more, but he's at least about a third of the way through his full maturity. And that's not too young he doesn't think. "My sister isn't much older. She was just born first, that's all."
At her question though he nods as if nothing is truly wrong with that, though it is a little off. "It's a big change, I know. Look- At least they left my mark, but I can't really roar any more...that's going to be a problem." He lifts his sleeve up to show her the lion head mark on his upper arm, an orange silhouette tattoo.
"So, have you always been like that?"

Kion's comment on her age actually surprises her enough, again, to knock her right back out of her shocked state. The idea of anyone considering her old is so humorous that she can't even help but laugh. Her mother spends most of her time trying to convince Rapunzel that she's too young to see the world outside, but now she learns that she's older than a lion's father.
"Sorry, it's just that I think humans and lions age pretty differently. When I was your age I was much, much, much smaller and I could just barely walk and talk. Maybe it's because you're human now, but you look more like you should be thirteen, I think."
Watching him, she's struck by the notion that maybe she could help him get the hang of walking on two legs, then. He seems like a nice boy, or, er... lion. Actually she always thought lions were dangerous, ferocious beasts, to hear Gothel tell it, but Kion is doing everything right now to shake what she's been told down to her core.
"Well, mother's hair starts to look a little more dull and she gets gray streaks. I guess... humans just start to look more tired? I've... I've actually never seen another person besides mother before so... I'm... not really sure..." She confesses, grasping some of her hair in her hands for a moment and looking off to the side with an expression of... regret? Embarrassment? Her attention is quickly recalled at the mention of his mark, though, and she does round to his side, stepping closer for a look. "It looks sort of like some of the paintings I did in the tower! Never a lion before, though. And yep! I've always been like this! Well... human, I mean, not this big. I've grown a lot over the last eighteen- ... cycles."
Her green eyes lift back up from his shoulder to his face again and a grin returns as she catches herself.
"Is that how you defend yourself? Roaring, I mean?"

Though, at the explanation of her mother, having just been about to ask another question, he pauses, surprised at her confession. "Never? Are Human's rare? That...that sounds awful! Even Fuli likes some company now and then, and Cheetas aren't the most social of animals..." That sounds so lonely. He stands up a little straighter, or at least tries to, he wobbles a little. "You're not going to be so alone now then, I've seen lots of humans around! It'll be great!"
That she paints herself is cool, and he figures he'll ask her about it later, but of course, he'd like to explain his roar. "Well, usually a lion my age can't roar very effectively, but I was chosen by my ancestors as the leader of the lion guard!" He doesn't like to brag much, but it's a cool story, and he's still young, so maybe bragging every once in a while is okay. "So, when I roar I can summon all of my ancestors and we roar together as one! It's pretty powerful, but...it shouldn't be used to solve every problem. Some problems can be solved with talking, or compromise. At least that's what I've learned. It's a difficult job, but it's my duty to protect the pride lands and the circle of life." He puffs out his chest proudly and grins at her, "I don't do it alone though...my friends help me."
DERP, wow, I actually forgot she'd already introduced herself. My mistake!
She considers this carefully. It's a good question, since one has to consider all the dangers people face in the real world. Being trampled by rhinos, being mugged, plague, cannibals, poisonous snakes... The list seems to just go on and on.
"Ahhhhmmm...? I'm... not really sure!"
This seems like something she should PROBABLY know, but... nope!
"Older than me, at least? If they're lucky? I don't think humans are rare at all, it's just that mother and I live away from the rest of them, for safety. She says the world is a pretty dangerous place. At least, that's how it is back home. I'm not sure about here since it looks nothing like any place I've ever heard about." She looks around for emphasis, then looks back to Kion for his explanation.
As he goes on her eyes widen, trying to picture what he's describing. "That sounds pretty amazing! But I think you're right." She smiles approvingly. "You seem really wise already to me. I'm sure your home is in good hands- um. Paws. Sorry."
Friends, that must be nice. Except, if he's like her then he came here alone. She hadn't been able to find Pascal anywhere and now the worry comes back fresh. For a moment she bites her lip, then resolves again that the only way to get answers is to look for them. Maybe she'll have a chance to make some friends of her own here before they get back? ... However THAT'S gonna happen.
"It's really nice to meet you, too, Kion. You'd kind of be the first friend I made here, if... that's alright with you?"
She offers out her hand, fully prepared to demonstrate. She hadn't even meant to put off returning the sentiment this long, but kind of got swept up in the conversation.
