ALSO, AS PROMPTS FOR YOUR CONSIDERATION: Last month's mini-events!
Effect: Friday, July 8: Flower Gift - All day, despite the season, flowers drift down from the sky. They’re harmless, beautiful, and smell lovely, but if trainers aren’t careful, they might end up trudging through rosedrifts up to their knees before long.
Swarm: Tuesday, July 12: Spinda
Effect: Friday, July 15 to Sunday, July 17: Worry Seed - Affected characters won’t be able to get any sleep. Does that make your character cranky? Does it damage their brain-to-mouth filter? The effects can last as little or as long as you’d like over this weekend.
Effect/Swarm Double Duty: Friday, July 22: Surf - Large waves appear in all bodies of water, including things like bathtubs and your Sawsbucks drinks (it’s just bean water, you know). Be careful on the ocean, but also, hang ten, dudes! The waves won’t destroy anything, but trainers are going to get wet on this ride. Also, oh god, small jellyfish Pokemon (Tentacool, Frillish, Inkay) happen to be swarming randomly in these bodies of water. GANBATTE, VICTORY ROAD.
Effect: Friday, July 29: Haze - The forecast is misty inside and out on this oddly cool July day. Affected trainers will find it difficult to remember things, whether those happened long ago or just five minutes past. The memories aren’t gone, of course, it’s just…foggy.
Swarm: Sunday, July 31: Illumise and Volbeat

video, i'm so sorry
[The feed on Anders's end starts off completely black as he holds his gear by the camera, then goes through a similar whirl of closeups of his shoulder, his feet, the sky, and a brief blur of something fuzzy and bright pink before he manages to get it oriented correctly. He squints at the screen, leaning from side to side and waving the strange device around like he's trying to point it at the Phantump from his end, which obviously doesn't work since Merrill's the one holding the camera. Eventually he gives up.]
You know, it really says something about you that the first thing you do on stumbling into some strange new world is find some kind of... Tiny, grinning sylvan. It didn't try to offer you anything, did it? [Not that sylvans are usually the bargaining type - mostly they just like to smash and murder - but they also aren't usually that small
or adorable. Still, a demon's a demon, and Anders can't help but be wary.Of demons, you see. Demons like Merrill's new friend, and not at all like the tiny pink and yellow cat sleeping contentedly on his shoulder. Obviously.]
Re: video, i'm so sorry
[A familiar face, at least. And a familiar tone. He can say what he likes about her, but her new friend is perfect and adorable and harmless. Mostly harmless. It did maybe obliterate a Pidgey earlier.]
Anders. It's not a sylvan, and I didn't find it, it found me. It's called a Phantump. It's followed me all day, and it fought a bird with magic, and it let me pet its... does it even have a head?
Anyway, you have one too. It's adorable! I didn't know cats came in pink here. Does it do magic as well?
no subject
The Skitty, aware on some level that she's being talked about, chirps excitedly and tries to climb further up Anders's coat. Anders scritches behind her ears affectionately and almost drops his gear, unused to trying to keep this weird mirror-thing trained on himself and attend to a tiny animal at the same time.]
A very brave and noble cat indeed, but just a cat. Isn't that right, Lady Tinypaws?
lady tinypaws...
[Anders, you are a frustrating person.]
She's a Pokemon, so she's not just a cat, I don't think. I mean, she is a cat, and a very nice one, but she's also a sort of... creature? Like mine? Before I left town someone said there were hundreds, and they could all learn...well, it sounded an awful lot like spells. Which is exciting! I wonder what your cat can learn.
