Also, having striven for so many years to integrate with a culture that wasn't her own, paying attention, knowing these details, understanding what information could be found where, researching, knowing how the government worked? You just described this as a world where children wandered with animals in peace, but adjusting was so difficult you were just trying to get by for months and not curious about anything structuring the place you were surviving in.

Either way, it's not my interest, exactly. It was part of my job before, and so I wondered.
