King Dedede | Kirby | OTA
I gotta question!
[Dedede’s face appears uncomfortably close to the screen. His position shifts slightly as he’s talking, as if he’s really struggling to figure out a good angle for this]
I’ve been trying out battling with this “pokey man” that I got and I have a complaint about fighting with them.
[He then reaches off screen and pulls an adorable pink orb to the scene, also uncomfortably close. As Dedede continues talking, the Minior gets really excited and presses their face against the screen even closer.]
So you're supposed to throw them at the other guy when a battle starts, right? But when I threw this nuisance at this kid's rat as hard as I could, the little brat got angry at me! So I thought he was just a sore loser, but the next kid I did that to got angry too! What's the deal with these losers anyway?
B- Action
[So Gym badges, eh? Sure being stuck in another dimension is terrible, but he liked cool shiny things that show off how cool he is. So as soon as he gets to Violet City he marches into the local gym for his cool new badge.
Aand about ten minutes later he his booted out of the gym. After a few moments of stunned silenced, he turns around in a rage and starts banging on the door.]
Whaddya mean you can't just give me a badge?! Do ya know who you're talking to? I deserve ten badges from you as payment for your mistreatment alone!
[Someone stop him before he throws his Minior at the door.]
B
Are you trying to prove how worthy you are of a badge by causing them property damage?
[He grimaces.]
Good luck with that.

Weiss Schnee | RWBY | OTA
[Weiss does not look happy. In her arms is an Alolan Vulpix who is holding what looks like a scrap of fabric in its mouth.]
I've never had something like this as a pet before, so can anyone give me any tips on how to make it stop trying to eat pillows? Staying at inns is going to get expensive if this keeps up.
[Please. She's actually asking for genuine advice on this.]
Action
[The decision on going for gym badges or not was not easy. Weiss could go for them, train her Pokemon up quite a bit, and then show off to the world that a Schnee could do anything she set her mind to.
But watching her precious little friends battling others wasn't easy. So she's standing in front of a gym and debating even going inside. Her Vulpix is ever at her side, white fur a stark contrast to its trainer's gray clothes. At least their hair matches.]
Winter, we need to decide together. Do you want to go in and fight?
[Winter just sits there and yawns. Might not be the best to ask.]
Video
Hmm...have you tried getting your Vulpix a toy to chew on? Or at least something that isn't furniture.

Martin Septim | Oblivion | OTA
[It's pretty rare to actually see Martin pop up on the PCG, and when he does it's usually just for questions he can't find a proper answer to elsewhere. This time is no exception, it would seem.]
Do, ah...
[There's a pause for a while, and he glances down to consult his notepad for something. He's a simple man, he doesn't use this technology nonsense more than he has to. Which may be part of why he doesn't fully trust the PokéDex to give him all the answers he's looking for. Partly because it has no real ability to compare things to similar creatures back where he comes from.]
Do Caterpie bite? I once knew a man who claimed to have been bitten by a very similar looking insect of some variety just near Leyawiin, and the way his face swelled--
[He trails off awkwardly, seemingly realizing that either he doesn't actually want to talk about this topic or nobody else wants to hear about this topic. Either way, he clears his throat.]
--I was merely curious. [He's terrified.]
b - action
[Martin's spent much his life in the southern and central regions of Cyrodiil, where it only occasionally gets cold enough to snow a bit. He's certainly never been up very far north, much less to any region of Skyrim.
So he thinks he's justified in taking things slowly as he ventures through the Ice Path. Very, very slowly, hardly shuffling his feet as he moves along. He's fully aware of how embarrassing it is, and if he hears anyone coming up behind him or attempting to pass him he slows to a complete halt and nods awkwardly in greeting until they've passed by.]
Hello. Just... resting my legs.
[He waits until they turn around before attempting to shuffle forward again-- and immediately slips and faceplants into the ice for the third time.
...You know what. It's fine. He's just going to pretend they didn't hear the thud.]
a
Dunno, pal! I know they shoot string at things--uh, Missile here got pretty tangled up in his first fight, so I just ran back to the PokéCenter. But we're gonna try again, and we'll see what happens!
[There's a bark as a fluffy tail wags just off-screen. Gumshoe beams at the Rockruff. He points confidently at a Caterpie chewing on a leaf nearby.]
Alright, Missile! Use tackle!
[The Caterpie looks up at Missile, and the feed cuts off. Moments later, another video is uploaded, showing a new location. Standing in the frame are a battered and bruised Rockruff and a sweaty detective. Gumshoe takes a moment to catch his breath.]
I, uh, um. They know how to bite. Really hard.

Zelda | Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild | OTA
[Chatot on her shoulder, Zelda smiles into the camera and waves a bit.]
Hello once more, everyone. It seems my little friend here is capable of learning speech. And it is not just a few words here and there. It seems he has been able to string them into short sentences to try and converse with me when I am out and about.
[The Chatot murmurs under his breath, something that sounds close to "Always out and about".]
It is not the same as speaking to another person, yet it is quite a comfort to have someone to talk with. Though it begs the question if other Pokemon are capable of speech. Has anyone heard of another that can?
Action
[Joined by a Wimpod and her Chatot, Zelda is pushing aside grass along one of the routes. She's determined to find some more bug type Pokemon to study, or anything she can come across, really. It might look comical seeing a princess literally on her hands and knees doing this, but she's excited!
Feel free to join her or just stare. Zelda won't be deterred either way.]
Video - you're getting two flavors from me BD
[Mabel is all up in the 'gear with a big grin when she replies, clearly adjusting the camera slightly before backing up so she can show off the Pokemon that she's hanging out with today.
Her Datrix, Quill, lifts a wing and hoots in greeting while Little Dipper the Minior orbits the owl's head.]
Quill's tried to mimic words but he's not super great at it. It's okay though because he's super acrobatic and that's his special skill instead! [The Datrix puffs up proudly, spreading his wings and taking a bow which gets a giggle out of Mabel. She then points to Little Dipper.] And Little Dipper can learn Psychic eventually! Then he can talk telepathically!!

Shoto Todoroki | My Hero Academia
How many of these creatures are capable of learning a combination of elemental moves? Are there any that combine elements that would normally be considered weaknesses or counters to one another?
[A rather blunt way to start a network post but the young man responsible for it looks to be rather no-nonsense. He's got a rather thoughtful frown on his face as he mulls the questions over himself while a Kanto Vulpix sits on one side of him and a Alola Vulpix sits on the other side licking one of its paws.
Considering the odd coloration of the young man's hair--white one the side the Alola-pix is on and red on the Kanto-pix side--it's rather fitting he has one of each.]
Most of the ones I've encountered seem to be complimentary elements or types. I'm curious if there are any Pokemon that don't follow that pattern.
[Action]
Castor, use Flame Burst! Polar, use Aurora Beam!
[Double battles were suppose to be done with two people on each side?
Nah. Shoto didn't have time for that.
When the two teens had challenged him Shoto had readily accepted, asking to take them on by himself using two of his own Pokemon. Thus leading to his twin Vulpix decimating their opponents.
The Kanto-pix, Castor, lept forward at his trainer's command and let loose a blast of fire that slammed into the Vileplume on the other side of the field while Polar, Shoto's Alola-pix, used Aurora Beam to knock out the Staravia that had been fighting alongside it.
Needless to say it was a rather easy battle but still a good show to watch if nothing else.
Kneeling down as the teens took off to get their Pokemon healed up, Shoto gently ruffled the ears of both his foxes.]
Nice job, you two. You're getting good at this.
[Wildcard~]
Feel free to hit me with something else if you want! I'm down for anything as I try this dork out!

Rick Sanchez | Rick and Morty | OTA
[ The feed starts up as most feeds do-pointed at absolutely nothing in particular and shaking while the owner fiddles around with it. A pair of slacks and worn shoes comes into view for a moment before it shifts again, apparently trying to figure out where the hell the camera is and why it isn't where it's supposed to be, even the shittest cell phones in any given universe aren't as crappy as this- ]
A-Alright, we, we have to-- shit, is this thing even on? H-Hey, Squanch, what the hell are you--URRRP--d-doing over-HEY, WHAT THE HELL-
[ The gruff old voice that had been muttering before freaking out is revealed to be a man who matches about what his voice sounded like. Old, grumpy, bloodshot eyes from who the hell knows what and what looks to be drool and some other mysterious liquid running down his chin as a metal flask is shoved inside a dirty old labcoat.
The hand not occupied hiding whatever he's been drinking is reaching for the askew camera, his expression annoyed before it's cut out and the feed shifts to darkness while there are scuffles with what sounds like loud, protesting meows.
When it comes back on, the old man's sitting on the ground and has one hand on his flask he's pulled back out and the other holding a Litten that looks far too pleased with itself for showing it's trainer the right way to face the Gear, and he calls himself a genius. As if he can just sense the little bastard's smug aura, the man glares down at the cat before wiping the drool/mysterious liquid off his chin with the back of his sleeve. ]
Alright asshole, d-don't squanch too hard over this, you got lucky.
[ When he finally turns to the camera, his expression is less annoyed and much more cheerful with a wide grin. ]
What uuup motherfuckers?! I-I need, shit-What was-Pikachu! That's it, that lil-little mouse thing, the one with the sparks and the seizures, I need one of those! A-And what was that one, the mushroom thing, one of those too. W-Where are they?
B; Video
[ When the video feed comes on, there's a very unamused old man glaring down at it, a slight twitch to his mouth that seems entirely unintentional. Unlike any other previous appearance of him, he seems surprisingly sober and even the ever-present Litten wrapped around his shoulders looks a little moodier than usual. ]
W-who's dick do I have to suck to get alcohol delivered to the middle of nowhere?
C; Wildcard
[ Do you want to run into him in the wild? In a city? In a bar? Wherever he is, he's probably drinking, high and/or talking very loudly to the Litten he keeps on his shoulders. Or, catch him or his Litten shoplifting or performing other minor illegal activities while trying not to be caught. ]
C
Neon, I'm gonna fall asleep on my feet but there's some good nighttime Pokemon around here I wanna at least see before goin on to Violet. I mean damn maybe my talkin is scarin them all off. Maybe that's it. But if I don't talk and walk the bgm is gonna lull me to sleep like I'm some kind of baby and the forest is my absent mother singing lullabies from her grave and somehow a ghost instead of movin the fuck on like she's got her unfinished business to get to why isn't she goin on ahead and wastin her time here with me, like you know that's a shitty idea but oh my god this just got weird I am more tired than I thought. Great.
[Yep, enter the rambling teenaged possibly former goddess if, well, if Roxy could count as ever being one, what with the conditional immortality that has, since she first woke up here, become likely as nonexistent as the rest of her powers. Here she is, walking along one of the paths, or perhaps the only one, she wasn't sure now, with her Shinx, Neon, keeping pace with her despite her offering to carry the little electric feline around.]

Hope Estheim | Final Fantasy XIII
[Video comes on once Hope has taken the time to read just about anything he could about this world and also to see if anyone he knew was here (they were not) and to also just make sure this wasn't a dream and he really was in a new world, still quite stuck in his teenaged body, and struggled to come to terms with that bit along with, well, being in a new world alone.
There might be a reason in Minccino is being held protectively in his arms. Well, arm, as the other is holding the phone up.]
Must I battle with these Pokemon? I know another option seems to be breeding but... can't I just get a normal job or go to school instead? I know schools exist here, but I've been pushed [to put it lightly] to become a Pokemon Trainer instead.
Is it really required? [Pause and then a somewhat helpless look.] Is the music permanent?
B - Action
[Minccino on his head now, Hope wandered Violet City. It'd been long enough for him to adapt and get used to his current situation, unwanted though it may be, and it helped to have a companion with him. He had still refrained from battling, not that it stopped others from wanting to battle him.
He held a hand up to the boy trainer in question, an apologetic smile on his face.]
I'm really very sorry, but I'm not battling. I don't want to. Besides, all I have in Minccino, it would seem I'm at a disadvantage. I'm sure there are others you could battle against.
What, are you afraid? C'mon man, get it together and just fight me!
[The smile fell and he was exasperated once more. Were he physically an adult, he was pretty sure this wouldn't be an issue. Guess being polite wasn't going to get him anywhere.]
No means no. Back off already. [Even Minccino gave the boy an unimpressed look, sitting up to growl softly.]
[OOC: He's from Lightning Returns, at the end. For those unfamiliar with the canon, he looks 14, but he's an adult mentally.]
Action
If you're looking for a fight, I'll take you on but I have a feeling you'll be outmatched.
[Shoto stopped to the left of Hope, on the side that his Alolan Vulpix was on, hands in his pockets.]
He said no, so you should leave.

Are any pokemon eaten?
[ Inquiring minds. One of many absurdities she's trying to wrap her mind around these days. ]
action
[ She evaluates the ledge that she cannot, for whatever inexplicable reason, scale with her head tipped to the side, lips pressed into a thin line of consideration. A scrape on her calf is slowly beading blood and dripping down the outside of her leg, ostensibly to soak into her sock. That's novel, in a way. She supposes everything here is novel, but when she wasn't expecting to really wake up at all, breathing and moving about freely in any sense is novel.
There's a pathway that winds around to the left, and a pathway a level directly above, separated by a ledge and the loose dirt and stone underneath it. The most direct way out of this area would be back up the ledge, which appears to be impossible to do, meaning the longer way around must be taken.
She turns away, sparing a glance for whoever has come around the bend. If she doesn't know them, she'll venture a question, with her eyes flicking back to the ledge. ]
Have you heard of anyone having trouble climbing back up small ledges after coming down them?
[ If she recognises who it is, on the other hand, her expression goes more carefully blank as she evaluates how quickly she needs to leave the area, her question cut off short. ]
Have you—nevermind.

romelle ☼ voltron
[ Romelle is no stranger to, well, strange. Nor is she a stranger to ending up in a completely unfamiliar land. Though, this time, she's all alone. Until a little creature makes a trilling noise next to her. Romelle jumps, squeaks inelegantly, and takes a few steps back. The little Growlithe looks up at her sadly. Romelle feels a terrible right away. Tentatively, she squats down and holds out a hand. ]
I'm sorry. Did I scare you?
[ The tall grass and trees along Route 29 remind her a little of the Colony. That little touch of familiarity makes her feel a bit better. And the music is actually a little catchy, though she's still not sure where it's coming from. Sure, she's still lost but at least the Pokémon she's been assigned (?) is an excellent companion.
Suddenly! A Pidgey flies out of nowhere and her Growlithe springs forward. Time to battle! That is, until Romelle scoops up her Growlithe and starts booking it down the path. He growls over her shoulder as the Pidgey tries to chase her down. ]
AAAAAAAAAAAHHHHH!
[ So far, she's not having a good run as a trainer. Send help. ]
[ Romelle is setting up camp for the night and decides that maybe she should send out a message. If the others ended up here as well, they'll be able to contact her. At the very least, she might be able to get some information.
She sets the 'gear down in the grass in front of her and her Growlithe crawls into her lap. ]
Hello.
[ She smiles a little uncertainly. ]
My name is Romelle and I am rather new to being a "Trainer." I would greatly appreciate any advice other Trainers may have.
Or perhaps some answers as to how I got here?
[ Romelle gives a little wave before turning off the video. Either she just made a fool of herself or she potentially made some new acquaintances. ]

Snow Villiers | Final Fantasy 13 Trilogy | OTA
[Alright, so as he's starting out, Snow has some things to consider. Pros and cons, you might say.
Pros: No Lumina. No constant pain. No pockets of Chaos. No Bhunivelze or Etros.
Cons: No Serah. No real goal. More time.
He isn't sure what to think of the little creature following him. It's cute, but weird like a lot of the things he's seen so far. Walking trees almost seem normal here. Of course, with the state of Nova Chyrsalia, he had no room talking about anyone or anything else and how strange it was. Except, this thing is following him around and won't go away. It's sort of like Maqui, without the mechanical expertise.]
Is this what you do? Follow me around and look sad?
Video
[He doesn't look as annoyed as he could. In fact, he almost looks...pleased. And so what if there's a Buneary on his shoulder. It's comfortable.]
So, this whole badge thing... Is it worth it? Seems like a lot of work for a little piece of tin and bragging rights.
Action
He'd elected not to collect any Minior simply because he couldn't stay the idea of keeping them in a pokeball for long periods due to not wanting to kill them via exposure. It'd been too heartbreaking to think about. So, with the Onix egg in his bag, he set off with just the two Pokemon for now.
That is, until, he heard Minccino make a noise and suddenly jump off his head to run toward... another Pokemon? Hope jogged after him.]
Minccino, please don't bother it. C'mon, let's... [Then he saw just who the white Vuplix was following and looking sad at. Hope stopped in his tracks, eyes wide.] ...Snow?

noel kreiss | ffxiii series
[With everything happening in Nova Chrysalia, and now being thrust into this new...place, Noel is feeling no small amount of emotional whiplash. The fact that it's calm, peaceful, and definitely not counting down to the end of the world somehow just makes it feel worse.
You might say he's restless. That might be an understatement.
He's been having a conversation with the ...dog? thing? that's been sticking to his side like glue. Not that it makes a perfect traveling companion -- it's alternated between staring at him for unnerving periods of time and making weird noises in response to anything Noel says.]
Listen, it's not like I've ever been big on pets, [...he says, after one particularly judgmental noise. When Poochyena doesn't seem to care, he frowns, grabbing a stick.] Leave whenever you want. If you stick around, I won't be responsible for you, alright?
[He tosses the stick into the bushes. The pokemon just stares at it. Then it stares at him. Then it gives him the most deadpan "really, bitch?" look that an animal can muster.
It was worth a shot, right?]
b; video
[The first thing you'll see is an embarrassingly extreme close-up of Noel's face. He fiddles with the phone a bit, figuring it out, and then looks right at the camera.]
All right. I've got plenty of questions, but until I figure out where to start, I'll go with one.
[The camera shakily pans to his companion, a very bored-looking Poochyena who seems to be gnawing on a stick.]
What do I feed it?
Video
[If you were expecting a human to respond, Noel, think again.
Instead it's a lime green Espeon that looks quite pleased with himself, twin tails flicking about as he presses his nose to the 'gear, eyes glowing softly as he uses Psychic.]
Lots of them!

Marco Bott | Attack on Titan | OTA
No - no, I'm not asking about the ferry...
[ anyone nearby might hear the frustration beginning to build in the polite voice. there's a tall boy talking to a jenny nearby, dressed in clothes unfamiliar to the region - white pants and shirt, tall boots up to his knees, a brown jacket and way, way too many straps. he's got the standard-issue backpack from "mom", and poking her head out of it is a vulpix, ears twitching as she listens in. if anyone happens to look at her? she ducks her head back down low into the backpack. ]
I know about the ferry from here to Pallet. I mean I want to know how I got to this place and why I'm not behind the walls anymore.
[ he's folding his arms and doing his damnedest to try and look intimidating. ]
.pondering.
[ whatever answers he has or has not gotten, he's at least seemed to find something to eat - and he's sitting on a bench, feeding bits of the sandwich to his vulpix.
well, she has to eat something, right? he'd feel bad trying to make her eat the rats they keep knocking out on the side of the road. ]
I wonder what I should feed you...
.adjusting.
[ okay, he's started to figure out some of this. at least, he knows he can use the pokedex to know what to feed viola, and he's changed into the clothes provided - minus the scarf, which is now tied around viola's neck - and so he takes to this PokeNetwork to figure it out.
He uses all the default options - so it's open, and it's video. and it starts broadcasting right away, showing marco with the vulpix, viola, sitting in his lap at a coffee house. ]
Hello... everyone. My name is Marco and I'm still getting used to it all but - I figured I'd introduce myself.
[ he smiles a little. ]
If you're from the 104th Training Corps South, I'd like to speak to you. Even if we haven't before.

Rose Quartz | Steven Universe
The words were said with a sense of wonder and awe, rather than confusion and distress. Rose Quartz stood barefoot with hands clasped together in the middle of New Bark as she looked out over the tiny little village. This...this wasn't Earth, was it? It didn't seem so very different, but it did! The air, the sun, the way bright and spirited music seemed to come from everywhere and nowhere.... And all the creatures around! She'd never seen anything like them! They were everywhere, not a single human was without one!
That was only part of the beautiful mystery she'd woken up in. She was human! Her skin was a rich human peach-pink, she was breathing, she was full of human parts! So many strange new human parts all solid and working inside of her! Somehow...somehow she was a human being! Had something gone wrong? No, that couldn't be. She'd know if that were the case, she was sure of it.
Almost deliriously, Rose pinched the skin of her arm and giggled, fascinated at the feeling and the way her skin moved. She repeated the action, not caring at all about any strange looks she was garnering. She couldn't stop poking and prodding at herself.
If this was some sort of dream, she didn't want to wake up! She'd always wanted to know what it was like to be a human!

Rose's self exploration was momentarily interrupted by an animate weapon with a trainer's backpack strap tangled around its hilt whirling by, slinging the backpack and all of its contents everywhere. Sword loved existing too!
A haggard and surprisingly dirty man hobbled after the ghost-type with one arm half-heartedly outstretched. The cuffs of his jeans were caked in...something and what looked like dust and oil spattered his shirt. His hair was a mess.
"I'm so sorry," he panted to Rose before he reached her. Trainer handbook pages fluttered through the air like cherry blossoms.

Taako | The Adventure Zone: Balance | OTA
So, hey, I've got a question for you all.
[The man on the feed leans back, legs crossed, resting his cheek on one hand while the other holds his 'gear. His purple wizard hat is perched jauntily atop his head. A Fennekin, a bit smaller than average, can be seen curled up in his lap, idly chewing on a twig as it dozes.]
What the fuck is up with the welcoming committee around here? Like, even if all of my badass accomplishments weren't sent out over interplanar broadcast, you'd think a lady who calls herself your Mom would be a little nicer, you know, not throw you out on your ass and chuck a pack at your head. [He pauses, mouth twisting a little.] Okay, I'm exaggerating, but the point still stands. If you're going to call yourself Mom, have some fucking hospitality going, alright? Basic parenting knowhow, like, from the 101 course. Even I know that.
[He sighs, a little exasperatedly. It's more of a show of irritation, really - he thinks she can see this.]
But like, listen. You didn't tune in to a free behind-the-scenes feature of Taako for nothing, right? Right. So, I'm going to put out a request to all of you, my dear fans, and that is...
[The 'gear tilts to fully show the Fennekin, whose one eye opens sleepily.] Please tell me what my new buddy Wickley is supposed to eat, because he's just as screwed over as I am, and I'm an adult, I can feed my own damn self, but - I don't wanna make this little dude sick, you know? That's not fair, he didn't choose this life. So if you could drop me some tips, that would be hella clutch.
Video
[Arriving at the Weird Shit together is sort of supposed to be their MO.]
And with tge vast experience I've gained in my time here, I can say with almost complete confidence that your new fox buddy eats- ...food.

Zuko | Avatar: The Last Airbender | OTA
[As you sit down at a cafe to have a nice drink and meal, a server approaches you. He has a large burn scar on the left side of his face, and looks cranky, if not outright angry. The light purple of the cafe's uniform doesn't suit him in the least, and he radiates exhaustion and general pissiness. He doesn't bother smiling as he pulls out the notepad to take the order down.]
What do you want. [If one more person says "a smile" Zuko swears he'll set their table on fire. Or get his Drampa to do it.]
2. Video
[A young man in a ninja trainer outfit appears on the screen, leaning back against a large, teal-blue something with fluff on its underside. He looks remarkably ticked off, and the fire light in the evening plays oddly with the scar on his face, making it look more severe than it already is.]
So we're allowed to fight these things, [Zuko gestures behind him to the thing he's reclining against, which moves as it takes a deep breath. It's pretty obviously a large pokemon of some kind.] against each other using all kinds of elements, but I'm not allowed to carry any weapons. [He sounds livid, and he actually growls a little. Why yes, he did wake up with a few important things missing. And yes, he might be more feral than a poochyena on a berry.]

Oh god this is going to go well. Zuko's from the end of season 2, before he sees Azula in the city
And Azula's from the end of Smoke and Shadow, but I usually play her from the end of The Search
And so the younger sibling eclipses the older... JK, that happened by the time she was 9

Chara 🔪 Undertale 🔪 OTA
[ Some bit of oddity around the base, something almost ominous to people unaccustomed to it. The soft voice of a child, yet indistinguishable as a girl or a boy, softly humming a cheerful tune echoing through the halls at almost exactly midnight on a Friday night, in October.
It sounds as if the humming is getting louder and louder, echoing through the halls, is it getting closer? Until, finally, it stops. ]
Greetings, comrade.
[ The voice comes from right behind you, the same one that had been humming, and when you turn to look, standing there decked out in their full uniform is a small child, no older than ten, smiling wide with rosy cheeks and bright red eyes shadowed by the hood of their hat, short hair sticking out around it.
They seem friendly-looking enough. If you've never seen a horror movie in your life. And *especially* because was that a flicker of a floating eye in the darkness behind them? Must have been nothing. ]
I'm trying to find some chocolate, can you help me?
B; [Network]
[ It's a beautiful day outside. Wild Pokemon birds are singing, flowers are blooming throughout the field that's shown, on days like this, some kids should be- ]
Greetings!
[ Bright red eyes and rosy cheeks pop up from the flower bed, a small child no bigger than ten or so with flower petals stuck in their hair and a Houndour napping at their side. They smile brightly at the camera, but, who's holding it? Probably an off-screen pokemon, and a flying one if the way the angle pans around the two in the grass is any indication, the child laughing and following the movement with their eyes and a twist of their body to settle on their knees.]
I'm Chara, this is such a fascinating world.
[ Was there some sort of weird, ominous feeling coming from just a simple emphasis? Nah, probably just your imagination. ]
Pokemon are so cool, but I see a lot of the same types. Boring
[ The child pouts, but a nudge from the sleepy, grumpy Houndour has them laughing again, curling over the back of their puppy and making just the cutest picture you've ever seen. ]
But are there any really cool ones out there? Ones that people don't see so often? I want to be the strongest trainer ever! Will you please help me get some ideas?
network
The library in the first city you reach will have more information... or if you want to listen to people tell folk tales in Violet City. How much truth there is in what they say is up to debate, but if there's anything people don't see often, it'd be the kinds of pokemon that become folk tales.
[ Or Absol, or anything of that kind, she guesses. Lute's not known to be part of a species people see all that often. Doesn't seem like it's really worth saying in the end. She hadn't found Lute. He'd been given to her. ]

[The weather is clear with not a cloud in the sky — A perfect day for traveling. And there are a lot of people doing just that today, Pokémon trainers and regular civilians alike.
There's music playing. No, not that music. Well... Yes, that music, but it's not just the background theme. There's a cheerful woodwind voice accompanying it, though... Suddenly, it fumbles the notes, several wrong ones playing, and then it stops entirely.
It isn't hard to find the source: off to the side of this sunny road, a boy in green clothes with Pokéballs on his belt sits cross-legged in the grass. He's holding a blue potato-shaped instrument in his hands, the sunlight shining brightly on its polished surface. There's a book laying open in the grass next to him, and right now, he's leaning over and looking at it, frowning.
He notices your approach right as he's reaching for a pen that's laying on the book. He pauses, squinting and blinking against the sun as he gazes up.]

[The blonde boy recording this video starts it apropos of nothing, no introduction, just a wide blue eyes set in a serious young face and two words.]

Does anyone know their names?

[Doreen doesn't mention that they're apparently all stuck in a videogame. She's pretty sure the kid wouldn't get it, and she's not 100% sure she's figured out how to explain it in a way he'd understand.]
