[ Keith had warned her, but it's still a shock. There's no recognition in his face and, although she was prepared for it, it still stings a little.

Has anyone given you an explanation for anything here?

I sort of have an idea. I am supposed to capture these "Pokèmon" [ yes, she's using finger quotes ] and battle for badges. I admit... I don't quite understand why. Nobody seems concerned if I actually follow the mission or not.

[ Hesitantly: ] Keith explained... everything else.

Yeah. Yeah, that's the basics. But... you can really do anything you want to, here. Which seems like a lot to take in, especially when you're on a whole new planet and all.

[Huh. Keith already reached out? Maybe his trip home made him more social?]

[ She'll have time to mull that over as she travels along, but it's a relief to know there are no expectations. Even if figuring out what she wants to do will be a bit overwhelming. ]

[ Romelle seems to be thinking carefully. She doesn't think she can get around explaining the Colony, so she may as well figure out how to break it to him without telling him too much. ]

Yes, but I am not from Altea. I'm from a hidden colony of surviving Alteans.

[You'd think she just told him the meaning of life. From the way his face starts to light up.]

[ A smile spreads across his face to mirror the way his expression brightens. The Alteans aren't his people, but he's taking the news as if they were. It's very... Shiro.

(That makes her feel a little better.) ]

That's... that's the best news I've heard from home in a long time.

[Aside from the generic "everyone is fine". Which was also pretty good. Really good. But still.]

I know this is ... definitely rough to suddenly wake up here. But if you know Keith, then you probably know the others.

We're all here. Except Allura and Coran, but everyone else is here.

[ One day, she'll introduce Shiro and the others to the rest of the colonists-- once they're found.

(She pushes that thought aside-- now is the time to revel in the way Shiro reacts to the good news.)

I've gotten used to strange by now, but this is strange even for us.

[ But she smiles slightly. At least she's not alone-- she wouldn't know what to do if she had been dropped here by herself. Panic a lot more, probably. ]

Keith mentioned that too. He also told me that you've been here for two years.

[ Which is still hard for her to wrap her head around. ]

Yeah, I know. You get used to it here, though. It's really not that bad.

[Not by comparison. It's a pretty decent place to be, eleven months out of the year.]

He's right, I have. I'm not sure how it all works, but, while we're here, it's almost like time pauses, back where we come from.

[Hunk keeps calling it "another space taco" and honestly? He's not wrong.]
