I saw something in the PokeDex about Slowpoke Tails being used for cooking. I guess they grow back if you cut them off.

Outside of that I can only assume it does happen. Where else would the meat we eat come from?

How practical. I wonder how long it takes them to grow a new one, and how much it hurts.

[ At least lizards drop theirs as a survival mechanism; this slowpoke thing is a whole different kind of harvesting. ]

There may be species not compatible with the pokeballs. Or anything other than humans which aren't considered "pokemon."

Considering how odd Pokemon are, probably not that long. As for how much it hurts..I can't imagine losing a limb is pleasant for anyone even if that someone is a magical creature.

True. I haven't heard of any though but they may not be as widely discussed since Pokemon are the main focus of this world.

[ She snorts quietly at that. If she was feeling inclined to dark humour, and she was, she could say she agreed. Though "magic" is hardly a word in her personal vocabulary. ]

No, it wouldn't be.

That's the general theme of things. It seems like we're meant to integrate into part of the pokemon mania, though from what else I can tell, it appears to be part survival motivated on some level, part to the mutual advantage of both sides in others. How keeping creatures in balls factors in is something else.

I guess. I can't say I'm a big fan of just going along with things without having all the information about it. It's strange enough being in this world to begin with but not knowing everything about the world is unsettling.

The feeling of just accepting things because that's how they are is not one I've ever been fond of though.

Pokemon seem to like being kept, at least that's what it seems like in regards to the ones we start with. It's strange.
lyingheart: (sigh | in these days of no regrets)

[personal profile] lyingheart 2018-09-12 05:32 pm (UTC)(link)
So you know everything there is to know about your own world?

Then be different enough not to just accept. Or brave enough, or remarkable enough. It's not something for a person like me.

I don't understand their behavior, but I haven't worked with many animals outside of horses. It's more surprising to me the ones living wild adapt so quickly to... domestication.
rimeblaze: (Default)

[personal profile] rimeblaze 2018-09-12 05:38 pm (UTC)(link)
No, but I was born into my own world and grew up with a better understanding of it than I do of a world I woke up in at random one day. And what I don't know I can find answers for; finding answers here isn't as easy as you would expect.

I never said I was going to accept it. I was just stating how I felt about it. I'll remember to keep that to myself next time.

They're either sentient enough to understand that a symbiotic relationship with people is valuable to them given how they evolve. Or it's just years of domestication taking it's toll on even the wild populations.
lyingheart: anonsanta, let me know who to credit! (take in | a tide will turn for no one)

[personal profile] lyingheart 2018-09-12 08:09 pm (UTC)(link)
How easily were you expecting to find answers? It seems like there's the possibility to ask, or read, or listen more easily than one might expect, over these things. So it must be even faster where you're from?

Do as you like. I told you how I felt, you said how you felt. Seems equal enough, for those kinds of exchanges.

These evolutions... they seem permanent, and to happen in different ways. It has to happen in the wild, too, doesn't it? I suppose having a source of food and a place to rest under someone's care is appealing enough across different species.

There are people that have been here for years. Displaced from their own worlds and settled here for years. And yet there isn't a lot of information on the how or why we're here. There's no more explanation as to why there's only two specific job routes to take. Everything is strangely scripted, right down to "Mom" greeting us. There's nothing natural about this place.

They do. I haven't heard anything about Pokemon being able to de-evolve. There are some cases of Pokemon needing increased affection to evolve which could be a product of human interference over the years but it's hard to say for sure unless someone's studied whether or not affection between Pokemon can trigger it as well.
lyingheart: (ask | we let it pass us by)

[personal profile] lyingheart 2018-09-12 08:43 pm (UTC)(link)
So you wonder who wrote the script, and to what purpose. There's always a reason, no matter how stupid that reason is to anyone else.

[ No argument about it being "natural." She just knows there are ways and ways to manipulate everything, from memories to bodies to populations, so more evidence of the same leaves her wondering what is hidden behind it all, and why bring anyone here? Let alone people like her. ]

What does that even mean, "increased affection?" Grooming? Feeding? Exercise?
rimeblaze: (☽10)

[personal profile] rimeblaze 2018-09-12 08:48 pm (UTC)(link)
Exactly. What's their point; their purpose in doing this. Why bring all of us here from different worlds.

[It reeked of something a villain would do back home if one had the power to do it. Was All for One behind this? Was this his doing? Or was something else going on?

Shoto was doing his best to roll with things but he couldn't help but be wary of it all.]

Yes. And friendship. The stronger your bond the more likely they are to evolve I guess.
lyingheart: (discuss | and i just can't help)

[personal profile] lyingheart 2018-09-12 09:37 pm (UTC)(link)
And if the purpose is "because we can," or, "as a side effect to what else we're doing?" How would you respond to something like that?

[ She's genuinely curious, she finds, to know what his thoughts would be between apathetic causes or unconcerned ones. If the focus was not them, but something else, and they were the side effect.

Then she reads about friendship being an affection raiser. Right. Riiiight.
]

Is there a list of those type of creatures somewhere easy to find?

[ Time to Avoid Them All, really. ]
rimeblaze: (Default)

[personal profile] rimeblaze 2018-09-12 09:47 pm (UTC)(link)
Then I'd figure out how to reverse what they've done. Just because they have the ability to bring us here doesn't mean they should without our permission. If it's a side effect to something else that was done...I'd do what I can to help solve the problem that caused said side effect. If I can.

For now, I'll just focus on surviving.

[Because who knew what was in store for them here.]

The Pokedex might be the best source for that but I think most of the information fills in when you encounter the Pokemon in the wild.

Worse case scenario you can ask on the network.
lyingheart: anonsanta, let me know who to credit! (accept | and the eyes close)

[personal profile] lyingheart 2018-09-12 10:15 pm (UTC)(link)
Good plan.

[ The focus on surviving, but she leaves it non-explicit as she sees no point in clarifying. The rest were answers, and his answers, not hers. What opinion would she really have to share?

So this, all this, is really a network, only not relying on people to be intermediaries, in a fashion.
]

Does encountering involve anything more than catching sight of them in the wild, that you know of?

I'll keep in mind asking questions on this network, as you say.
[ A pause before she continues typing, to add: ] Thank you.

[ Politeness. It can be worth the effort. ]
rimeblaze: (☽04)

[personal profile] rimeblaze 2018-09-12 10:25 pm (UTC)(link)
From what I've experienced, you have to catch them to fill the entry in. Both the Pokemon I own have completed entries. The ones I've encountered don't.

Unless there's some trick to it I haven't figured out yet, which is possible.

You're welcome. And good luck.

[Allies are always important, especially if this does turn out to be some sort of villain plot.]
lyingheart: anonsanta, let me know who to credit! (ask | the only thing that i ask)

[personal profile] lyingheart 2018-09-12 10:37 pm (UTC)(link)
Not an expedient process when it comes to information. I'd found the same so far, and guessed that might be the case.

[ "Gotta catch them all." Just how limited was the life-form variation here... ]

If I learn otherwise, I'll attempt to let you know.

[ If she remembers the ID number identifying the person she's writing to, at least. Allies are always important, though trust? She's just glad she doesn't have to invest in such at the time.

Sometimes life is a zero-sum game and you're just trying to survive.
]

What's your name?
rimeblaze: (☽05)

[personal profile] rimeblaze 2018-09-12 10:40 pm (UTC)(link)
Not in the least, especially when you consider the sheer number of Pokemon.

[Shoto is not looking forward to having catch a whole bunch of these creatures just to learn more.]

Likewise.

[With allies comes sharing information and he's willing to do that unless this person gives him a reason not to.]

Shoto Todoroki. Yours?
lyingheart: (calm | deals the cards as a meditation)

[personal profile] lyingheart 2018-09-12 11:05 pm (UTC)(link)
[ Can they just pool resources. Divide and conquer. Anything other than hunt down animals on their own to capture them for information provided by an electronic device? For that matter, where the hell is that information coming from?

What kind of analysis happens inside pokeballs... or with this dex?
]

Annie Leonhart.

Until then, Shoto Todoroki.
