Are any pokemon eaten?
[ Inquiring minds. One of many absurdities she's trying to wrap her mind around these days. ]
action
[ She evaluates the ledge that she cannot, for whatever inexplicable reason, scale with her head tipped to the side, lips pressed into a thin line of consideration. A scrape on her calf is slowly beading blood and dripping down the outside of her leg, ostensibly to soak into her sock. That's novel, in a way. She supposes everything here is novel, but when she wasn't expecting to really wake up at all, breathing and moving about freely in any sense is novel.
There's a pathway that winds around to the left, and a pathway a level directly above, separated by a ledge and the loose dirt and stone underneath it. The most direct way out of this area would be back up the ledge, which appears to be impossible to do, meaning the longer way around must be taken.
She turns away, sparing a glance for whoever has come around the bend. If she doesn't know them, she'll venture a question, with her eyes flicking back to the ledge. ]
Have you heard of anyone having trouble climbing back up small ledges after coming down them?
[ If she recognises who it is, on the other hand, her expression goes more carefully blank as she evaluates how quickly she needs to leave the area, her question cut off short. ]
Have you—nevermind.
Network
Outside of that I can only assume it does happen. Where else would the meat we eat come from?

[ At least lizards drop theirs as a survival mechanism; this slowpoke thing is a whole different kind of harvesting. ]
There may be species not compatible with the pokeballs. Or anything other than humans which aren't considered "pokemon."
no subject
True. I haven't heard of any though but they may not be as widely discussed since Pokemon are the main focus of this world.

I hadn't come across anyone else, so I hadn't thought to ask yet. But I had trouble myself. [then, he pointed to her leg.] I have a first aid kit, do you need some help?
no subject
Ah. She'd registered the scrape, even the slow drip, but it's both disappointing to realise she's not fully on whatever game she needs to be here, and disconcerting to realise she's... for lack of a better word, only human. No regenerating limbs for her these days. Hopefully no need for it, either.
She blinks and looks up to Hope again. It's not likely it'll be a cause for infection, but washing it out is wise regardless. ]
... If you don't mind lending it to me, I can take care of this.
no subject
Here.
[He gave her some space, instead studying the ledge.]
I never found my way back up. I ended up just looking for a path around. There is usually one, I've found, so it's not prudent to get back up there aside from saving time. Still, it's frustrating to be unsure as to why this even happens. It's doesn't make any logical sense.

big yell
Bertolt is about to grab the Pokemon's harness when he catches a snippet of their voice, and he freezes. How long has it been since... Two years? Almost, at this rate. Two years, and he hasn't ever thought to prepare himself for this. Reiner returning? Of course, but her--
A hand darts out to catch his Arcanine's harness by the side and the Pokemon in question stops with a curious half-boof, one ear flopping down with a sharp tilt of his head. And then he follows his trainer's gaze, and that long tail of his starts to slowly swish and wag. A friend? Friend?? Come on you big lug, stay in one spot so he can see her with his own eyes.]
Annie.
[...It's not what he ever thought he'd say if he saw her again - truthfully, he had wanted to make some big dumb show of it like he's certain Reiner would, but her name is the only thing that he's able to muster. Bertolt never had been like Reiner in that department, no matter how much he tries.
He has to give her a careful once over--twice, just to reaffirm that it's really the same woman he remembers, his eyes lingering at the sight of blood for a long minute.]
You're hurt.
[That's not his smoothest moment but it's better than saying one word, isn't it?]
laughs, tiny wave!
Suffice to say, his statement has her barely glimpsing down, turning her leg to get a better look at the scrape on her calf, shrugging and dismissing it almost in the same moment. No, she doesn't heal like she used to, but in ways, that's a normalcy she never expected she'd have again. Being what they were, it simply was what it was. ]
Barely scraped. How long has it been?
[ Since her cover had been blown, because she knows the Female Titan would have made waves through the military ranks; how long has he been here, in this strange world, with his over-large, apparently friendly companion; how long has it been? Long enough, based on his reaction, and what did that really mean?
There are always more questions, but it's easiest starting with just the one she's not even sure she wants answers for, but knew she'd always ask anyway. ]
I'm so glad you have no idea
[His brows knit together and he finds himself stumbling a bit when the Arcanine decides it's a good time to take a seat and lean. The only thing saving him from making a spectacle is his grip on the harness which he uses to keep himself steady (and to lean back against the dog in playful retaliation). Come on, don't make him look weird, buddy!]
S-Sorry, uh. It's been awhile. ...Almost two years now, I think. Since I got here. I haven't seen you since the last time the three of us met up, but I heard... things.
[A lot of things, especially after he had been sent back and returned to this world. Things he'd like to honestly forget.]
Are you, uh...
[Are you okay, he wants to ask. He doesn't know what happened exactly, but he also doesn't know what happened to her after everything went down. Logically he knows she has to be safe - Zeke even said so himself, right? She could take care of herself much better than he and Reiner could take care of themselves.
The situation they fell into was proof enough of that.]
I'm laughing, I feel so rusty, and canon has gone so /makes hand motions alksdjf

why is this annie's contribution, how to take advantage of the nice natives now that you're here
she's always been the smarter one of the trio, gotta keep the dumb boys in line
with great power comes great responsibility, right? right??? okay probably not
making any of the warriors have responsibilities totally won't backfire
it's not like they're a bunch of child soldiers with death timers on them
who would be crazy enough to stick a group like that with a job, anyway?
who indeed? /we stare at the camera a la the office

Y-Ye--uuuurrrrrp--ah. They're the most bullshit a-and pointless game mechanic that has somehow been ingrained into the reality of this world, and nothing anyone can do can scale them. You can stand on rocks, build them up higher than the ledge to scale over it, and you still won't be able to get to the other side. Make a bomb, blow it up, and everything around it will be trashed but some fucking how that ledge won't have a single spec of dirt out of place. They're impossible, improbable, a pain in the ass and there's no point in them existing beyond some form of God or, as is more likely in this dimension, some legendary Pokemon being a total dick.
[ Rick's glare stays fixated on the offending ledge through his entire spiel, and at his side, a Litten patiently licks his paws and waits for the tirade to be over. Not the first time they've had this rant. ]
no subject
Though really, whatever it is, she can agree with the end portion—for all she doesn't particularly believe in some form of any god, she certainly does believe in powerful enough creatures to have reality warping effects. Humanity's fantastic at doing all that just on their own, aren't they? Sparing a glance for the Litten, she blinks and looks to Rick once he's done ranting. ]
The point being you only come down from a ledge, you can't climb up over it.
[ That's ludicrous, and on some level, depressing. What a nuisance. ]
no subject
[ The look his Litten gives him says no, it really wasn't, but as if he's going to listen to any opinion other than his own. The fire cat's staring goes ignored as Rick turns his attention from glaring at the bullshit physics ledge to the ice princess he's come across. ]
I mean, it made sense back in when it was just an annoying video game mechanic. Block off the possible exists for anyone too weak to move on to the next area, while allowing anyone going from a high level area to a lower level to be able to move freely, and by that point having what they need to get to town to town without having to pass through the routes they've already been down in the first place. Solid, simple gameplay that stops dumbass kids from getting in over their heads. But when you take all those away and apply it to a real-life situation, it only exists to piss people off.

And then the mission outside the wall had happened.]
A-Annie-- [There is a hitch in his voice, a nervous tick as his eyes flick over her then flick away and he plasters a smile on his face, a second too late, a shade too tense to be genuine. He was never as good as her at guarding his expression, and two years here have not changed that.] It's been a while. It's good to see you.
[Calm down, he reminds himself, trying to breathe through the way his throat has gone dry and his heart kicks in his chest like that of a startled hare. He might be completely mistaken. She might not be a traitor. They might be another explanation for all of this. That might not have been Marco's gear.
(Though even if it wasn't, why did she have it? Why did she present it and not her own?)
And even if he is right, she has no reason to suspect that he knows. He hadn't even been able to report any of his suspicions to the Commander after the mission. And he had shared them with no one else, uncertain about who he could trust.]
LMAO IM SO SORRY FOR THIS
But the aspects of denial she works with aren't ones of denying realities she sees, let alone those she hears. There is Armin, and he stands there, and he still has his own tells. They both watched people; survival mechanisms for different purposes, perhaps, but where she feels he might have learned to read hers, she feels likewise, she's learned to read enough of his. Or she had, at some point.
What she does not have is the desire to play out this particular game again. She still takes a moment to study him, reaching up to brush a lock of hair behind her ear as an errant breeze tugs it loose from where it was. There's some jest in this, that for once she's meeting him as human as he is, but she tucks that dry, dark humour away someplace she doesn't need to look.
She was always too human, and not human enough. What she knows of the world that she presumes Armin doesn't won't make anything inside or outside make any more sense, because it doesn't. Everyone's sold on their own dogmas. Everyone wants to believe they're right, but there's no one singular "right." There never is.
So she speaks, not knowing she assumes more than he does, that she knows how things play out where he has not seen the end to his own enacted plans: ]
I don't see the point in you lying.
[ Because it is a lie, and she knows it, and she won't make the same mistake twice. Instead she turns to leave, heading the opposite direction than he'd been coming from. ]
NO APOLOGIES. only sweet sweet trauma.
She knows.
He was foolish to discount the possibility that she might be from his future, so to speak. A future, apparently, where his suspicions have been aired and judging by her behaviour, were found to be true.]
Annie, wait.
[He cannot let her just walk away. Even if he now has the answer to one of the questions that have haunted him for two years now, there are so many others left unanswered. How had she come about her titan power? Who was she working with? And just why. Even if there cannot exactly be trust between them, could there at least be a truce? Some sort of beneficial arrangement for both of them?
His time in this world had taught him that everybody who comes here becomes human. Eren hadn't been able to turn into a titan at all, which means that neither can she. And he also knows that nobody arrives in this world with their weapons still on them. So, in some ways, this situation is far less dangerous than it could be.
Not that she needs the ability to turn into a titan or any weapons to overpower and kill him if she wanted to. Few have ever been able to match Annie's hand-to-hand skills, and Armin is well aware he was not among that sparse number. But if those were her intentions, she wouldn't be walking away from him now, would she? If she had wanted to do that, she could've gone along with him just long enough to catch him off guard.
If she wanted to kill him, she had had plenty of opportunities outside of the wall.]
Annie. [He takes a step towards her, a small one, his hands held up and showing his open palms.] I just want to talk. No more lies. Lets both speak the truth for a change.
[He hesitates for a moment, then adds:]
I've never openly talked about what I [suspected] know. [A half-truth; he hasn't been open about it, but he did slip up once in front of Jean.] Nobody here knows. Your secret is still safe.
