[Keith runs a hand through his bangs and lets out a long exhale.]

Okay. The last thing I remember is crashing the Black Lion after that. So that works out.

Lance and Shiro don't know anything from just before the fight with Zarkon. I told you... before. About that fight, Shiro disappeared. The Shiro and Lance here haven't gone through that yet.

[ That's a lot to miss out on. Quietly: ] Then they won't know who I am.

[ But then her mind backtracks a bit. The hesitation in his voice. Shiro "disappearing." Things start to fall into place and she pets her Growlithe a little to calm her nerves. ]

It must be so hard for you not to tell them. I'm sorry.

[ The implication is, of course, that she'll keep all of that to herself if he asks her to. ]

It's fine. [But his expression says how tired he feels.]

I asked Shiro if he wanted to know, he only wanted to know if our friends and family were okay. Left it at that.

Wanted to let you know about them.

[His own starter, his Torracat, starts climbing up his shoulder causing him to lean. She's Big.]

[ It's not fine, she thinks, but she doesn't pry. Keith is dealing with enough already. ]

I understand. I won't tell them anything unless they ask.

[ She smiles a little when she sees his Torracat. ]

Oh, is that your friend?

[ Her Growlithe perks up and noses a little at the 'gear as if to say 'oh, hello, friend!' ]

[He unconsciously rubs along the line of his scar and sighs at Torracat.]

Yeah, that's her. Been with me since I got here. She's a Torracat.

[But it's not Space Wolf, dang it.]

[ Cosmo isn't here either. Romelle feels her heart sink a bit, both because she quite likes the Cosmic Wolf and because Keith must be missing him terribly.

She tries and (mostly) succeeds at not letting it show. ]

A Torracat. [ She says it as if committing it to memory. ] Mine is called a Growlithe but you... probably know that already.

[ Her Growlithe perks up and wags his tail at being mentioned. ]

[He smiles, giving his pokemon some head scritches she's so clearly attention grabbing for.]

I didn't. I haven't seen one of those before.

The database says that Growlithe is a loyal and brave companion. And he has been! [ Growlithe 'barks' gratefully. ]

It also says that he can smell feelings.

['Smell' feelings. He smiles, giving a little hmph at that.]

Yeah, some pokemon are cool like that.

[ Romelle can't help but be curious to learn more. Sure, she's still not sold on the whole 'adventure' thing, but at least it doesn't seem to be the potentially deadly kind. So far.

She shakes her head. ]

No, I left. Something about the town felt... strange. I'm on Route 29 right now.

It felt weird to me too. There's another town further up, Cherrygrove. I can come get you from there and bring you to everyone else. [He'd been worried about his pokemon not being big enough to carry him, but it's since evolved. It'll be fine.]

[ Romelle assumes he means right now, so she gestures for the Growlithe to get off of her lap while she gathers up her bag. Even though there's no world-ending crises nor any immediate danger, she'd prefer to be with the others as soon as she could. ]

On my way!

[ Never mind that it's going to take at least a few hours of walking to get to Cherrygrove, but she's nothing if not determined. ]

I'll be there in a few vargas. [Yeah he could just say 'hours' but Romelle might find varga an easier measure. He grabs his Talonflame and starts the flight over.] I definitely want to meet your Growlithe.

[ Romelle would understand it, as she's gotten used to telling time on Earth, but it's nice to hear familiar words in an unfamiliar place.

Romelle grins and tilts her 'gear down to show her Growlithe, who is dutifully trotting along next to her. He gives Keith a doggy smile, tongue lolling out of his mouth a bit.

She brings the camera back to herself. ]

I think he's excited to meet you too!
