It's fine time travel exists in this universe and he already accidentally ghostbusted the ghosts from A Christmas Carol so he'll just buy anything at this point.]

Wow you're from the future? How did you guys figure out galactic travel? It's not exactly my area of expertise but I didn't know it would be possible to travel across the galaxy without it taking multiple lifetimes.

I'm a detective, not a rocket scientist. Still takes, like, weeks to travel from Mars to the Outer Rim, since there are a lot of layovers. Never really paid attention during physics class, to be honest.

[Or...any of his classes. Seemingly dissatisfied with her perch, Small Fry takes the opportunity to crawl down, clinging to Juno's jacket as she settles in his lap. He starts absentmindedly scratching the fur behind her ears.]

I'm sure one of the professors here have a theory or...whatever.

It's exciting for people who don't live there, sure. [But isn't that the case with most places?] Hell of a skyline. Makes for some picturesque postcards. But pictures only show you the outside of things. Inside...things can get pretty messy.

[Aw, jeez, you've started him on his Detective Monologue (tm). Better call it quits while you're ahead, Ray.]

Well, you meet a lot of people as a detective. Most of 'em wanna kill you, but yeah, I'd say it's pretty exciting.

You know, being a detective sounds a lot like ghostbusting! You get to see new things but most of them want you dead.

[He says, as if he's idly describing a mundane job requirement.]

Of course there's no mystery to hunting down ghosts usually, at least not to the level you're used to, I imagine.

Ghostbusting? [Juno raises an eyebrow. The Bunnelby looks up at the word "ghost", a curious expression on her face.] Oh, no, don't get me involved with that weird occult stuff.

[And...pocket monsters with strange and unknowable powers are not weird, apparently.]

Besides, everyone knows that ghosts don't exist. [A pause.] I mean, they exist here, but like--nevermind, you get what I'm saying, right?

[He's... extremely doubtful about that but he's never been on Mars so he wouldn't know.]

Besides we're not hokey psychics! We have worked tirelessly to research the ghosts that plague the streets and how to effectively deal with them.

[Well... he and Egon have at least.

Last time I checked, no. We've got our fair share of hokey urban legends and supposed cursed ancient Martian artifacts, but none of them have proved to be true. I busted one of those myths, myself, after a mask supposedly sent a death threat against me.

[He rolls his eye. To him, this is basically on par with those weirdos that try to search for El Dorado or the Floating City of Jupiter’s Eye. But he can't say that he's not a little intrigued by what this dude has to say, if just for the fact that it's amusing to watch him talk. So he'll humor him for a little bit. and he's kind of cute but that's besides the fact]

But let's say a layperson like me wanted to know how the ghost...busting happens. How would you explain?

Oh it would be a lot easier to explain if I had my equipment on me, but I'll try my best.

Without getting to complicated, we use proton pack to hold ghosts in place using proton acceleration using their negative energy! Then we trap them in put them in a containment unit, where they're safely contained unless the power goes out.

That...sounds fake, but I don't know enough about physics to dispute it. Or ghosts.

[At this point, Small Fry has fallen asleep in Juno's lap. Well. Looks like he's not getting up from this spot until she wakes up. Juno frowns, shifting slightly and scratching the back of his neck.]

So, uh...following this train of thought, it's basically like what Poké Balls do here? Except of catching Pokémon, it catches ghosts.

[He awkwardly moves to grab one of the Pokeball without moving Jackie. She stirs slightly but then falls back asleep.]

You know I was thinking about that! Once I get to a hotel, I think I'm going to try to reverse engineer one of these things to find out how they work
