[Revelry in the... Afternoon?]

Tokoyami slouched a little further on the bench. He reaches up to rub his beak again, and again accidentally smacked himself on the too soft nose he now had. He was never jealous of his classmates for their human faces. Now he was even less so. So many things could just smack them in the face and hurt.

"Spritzz...?"

The pink... bird was trying to peek under his hood again. He had hopped up onto Tokoyami's lap, feathers fluffing up to make himself look even bigger and more noticeable.

And pink. So. Pink.

"... It's as if someone created my worst nightmare and formed it into a physical form. A mirror world of my own face."

Tokoyami plants his hands on either side of the Spritzee's ... body? It's entire body was a head. It was a cotton puff of salmon despair.

"....Did you steal my face?"

The Spritzee trills at him, little wings flipping forward to flutter against Tokoyami's face. The boy sneezed in response, releasing the pink bird(?) to flutter away. Nothing could be resolved by sitting around lamenting the loss of any gothic reputation due to a pink companion.

He brushes his hood back, hair fluffing up much like his feathers had.

"I need--"

"Spritz!" The cottonball landed on Tokoyami's head to begin grooming the boy's hair.

"..We need to start looking..."


[Network]

[ The video clicks onto a hooded figure, shadows cast across his face. His fingers are laced together, resting on the table. ]

I am unsure how I came to be in this carnival of madness. Strange creatures haunt the streets and follow people like demo--

[ A Sprtizee rolls slowly across the table, little wings flapping and fluttering to help it along. ]

...You. .... You aren't.. ... stop that.

[ Tokoyami leans forward, clasping both hands around the Spritzee. ]

You're ruining the scene!

[There is a lot going on in this video but there is one thing Shoto knows for sure--

He knows that voice. He absolutely knows that voice.

He's going a very...neutral expression on his face as he appears on the video, Polar the Alola-pix seated on the cafe table he's seated at with his head tilted while Castor the Kanto-pix just looks bored with the entire thing on the other side of Shoto.]

...Tokoyami?

[ Somehow the Spritzee rotated around in Tokoyami's hands, now hanging upside down but looking at the screen again to make a happy Spritz! at the appearance of the boy and his two Pokemon. ]

Todoroki! A familiar face among strangers, thank goodness!

[ He puts the pink fluff down to reach up but hesitates before taking his hood off entirely yet. ]

I apologize, my appearance may shock you...

[ Then the hood was pushed back. Yes. It was truly horrific. ]

I am glad whatever brought us here has not warped your features beyond recognition as well.

You're the first familiar face I've seen since I got here a few months ago.

[There's a note of relief to Shoto's voice now that he knows, for sure, this is in fact one of his classmates and even the tension in his shoulders seems to ease a bit.]

Why would it--

[Shoto's words die as he blinks and stares for a moment.

He's definitely not horrified by any means. Just shocked.]

I..hadn't considered that this place would make you look completely human...

A few months...? That's strange, I only just saw you this morning...

[ This was very concerning. Was there perhaps a space-time type Quirk in action? Or an elaborate illusion? But he couldn't sense Dark Shadow either, unless... ]

...Dark Shadow?

[ The Spritzee turns, knowing it was being acknowledged even if it hadn't been given a name. What a mistake that seemed to be from the look on it's trainer's face. ]

This place is a true nightmare become reality... Dark Shadow, what happened to you... Todoroki, have you been able to access your Quirk at all?

[....This place was going to be hell for Tokoyami.]

I haven't, no.

[He wasn't going to mention that odd weekend. It was a one time occurrence and right now he just needed to focus on trying to explain things to his classmate.

His Vulpix duo exchanged looks then peered at the screen again, Polar let out a soft "Pix!" at the other young man. It'll be okay human!]

Any beings that are brought here lose abilities they had in their original worlds. We're..all just normal humans here.

[ That was awful news. How were they to get home if they had no access to abilities that could enable them to deal with whatever brought them here? And what of Dark Shadow? Look what this world had done to him...

Pink... ]

So, my appearance has been robbed from me and Dark Shadow has become a mockery of himself. And you...

[ It was coming together finally. Okay. And Todoroki said worlds, so this was bigger than Tokoyami had originally imagined. ]

If you've been here for as long as you say then it must be something very powerful keeping us here. And time must move differently as well. I wonder...

The pink bird was nestling down against Tokoyami's chest with a happy chittering noise, little spritzspritz noises escaping.[ ]

There are people here that have been in this world for years.

[It's a terrifying thought but it's the truth, Shoto knows that much.]

Whatever is going on here, whatever brought us here..I don't think it has to do with anyone's quirk. I think this is something much bigger than anything we've ever dealt with before.

[Shoto frowns, glancing down as Polar and Castor both look at him and let out soft chirps.]

Others have told me that while we're here time stands still back home. So even though you just saw me, I've been here for six months, living in this world and trying to adapt to life here.

Years...

[ The implications that carried alone. When--If they returned even... Would they be that much older than their classmates? Would they need to explain what happened even though they would most likely be as in the dark as they were now? ]

I see. Then it is something we must be prepared for.

[ If Todoroki could adapt, surely so could Tokoyami. He attempted a smile but... Well. He never had a human mouth before and it was more of a bare teethed grimace. ]

You have been provided with animal companions as well I see. Are they physical manifestations of your quirk as well? Or is this just what happened to Dark Shadow?

[ Nope. He still didn't get the Pokemon thing but he did know he hadn't seen other Spritzees. ]

[Shoto nodded.]

It is, yes. This place is easy enough to settle into and there are plenty of people here to help us if we get into a tight spot for any reason.

[Despite the awkwardness of the attempted smile, Shoto returned it with a faint one of his own. He appreciated the effort.]

They do mirror my quirk, at least these two do. I have others that aren't similar to my quirk at all that I encountered while I was traveling and caught or invited to travel with me.

[As if on cue an Ivysaur poked it's head up over the edge of the cafe table, letting out a happy noise as it waved one of it's vines. Shoto's expression immediately softened and he reached over to pet the Pokemon's head.]

This one, for example, is a grass type. He's been very helpful against some of the gyms I've battled.
