You see, we also got these little devices [that he doesn't like much] that bring you back from the dead. They're floatin' AIs that sorta parasite onto you. Pick somebody and bring 'em back from the dead intact. You die again? They bring you back. They just build you back up exactly as you were when you died. But your memories get crammed back into your head.
You also got transmat devices, and those kinda work the same way. Transferin' and rebuildin' people from the atoms up.
So I figure you're memories define how you use your body, no matter what cells ya got in it. Livin' people shed 'em and replace 'em so they're whole new folks within four years. It ain't that different, just a shorter cycle.
[All of this in a thick southern drawl. Excuse him, ma'am. He's got a lot of big thoughts on the whole teleportation system situation.]
The teleport system I built shifts the whole shebang, though, usin' a portal. Cells and all. You get punted over to the other side intact, into a parallel pocket dimension, one lined up exactly next to each other. There's this other place, too. You can drag a fella into a particular dimension, and they come out all servile and obedient, forget who their real enemies are. Same cells, but mixed with new energy. Same matter, but now that person is all differ'nt because the fundamental way they were thinkin's all shifted around now. They ain't the same.
Anyway I figure the whole Pokecenter deal's more like what them floatin' AIs do than the whole teleportation mess.
