[ If you happen to be on Route 29, you'll probably see a little girl with pink hair sitting under a tree just off the side of the road. Her bag is on the ground, and while all the typical starter item stuff is still safely tucked away inside, there are a TON of other (seemingly useless) items around her. How useless? Well, let's take inventory:
• A few rocks - ranging from tiny pebbles, to large fist-sized ones
• Clumps of grass
• All sorts of wildflowers - at least one of each kind that grows around here
• A few bug shells
• Some strips of cloth
• An empty plastic bottle
Yep, useless. And yet, she's contemplating all of this junk with a serious look on her face, seriously contemplating how to keep it all and fit it into her bag!
... Look, some habits die hard, okay? ]
II. A Fight?! (Not Really...)
[ Escha might be ready to try her hand in battling!! Too bad her starter - a hoppip, very much is not. And while first-time jitters are to be expected, this... isn't that. This is something a little more difficult to overcome, honestly. Hoppip is not only nervously bouncing in place, but she's completely unprepared to take on this sentret in front of front of her.
Because... Hoppip does not learn an offensive move until level 10.
So despite Escha's encouragement, and heart-felt inspirational cheering, Hoppip just isn't going to manage right now. Literally. And so she bounces behind her trainer and stays there. Escha frowns, turning and lowering herself to her knees so she can check on her. ]
Hey, whoa! Don't worry! Are you okay? You're not hurt, are you?
[ The wild sentret is... ... admittedly confused. For a little bit. But fortunately, it gets distracted by something else and wanders off. leaving Escha to fuss over her poor little not-at-all-battle-ready Hoppip. ]
III ► Wildcard!
(( Challenge her to a battle! (That you will totally win.) Show her the ropes!! Comment on pink hair and cheeriness!! Make a new friend!! The sky's the limit - come at me with any scenario you'd like! ♥ ))
I
The little mustelid squats down, close enough that she can tap her claws against one of the random objects, her head tilted curiously.]
Miiien?
[Hello Stranger, what do you have there?]
no subject
[ Well, she seems... friendly? And the scarf means she probably belongs to someone. So at least there's no need for alarm! She relaxes. ]
Um, hi there! Sorry about the mess, it's just some things I found, I thought they might be useful later -- I don't know how, exactly, but... [ She smiles sheepishly. ] I guess I'm just used to taking everything with me...
[ ( Escha, the Mienfoo likely doesn't... care... about your rambling... Oh well.)
She points to the smooth, shiny rock that Mienfoo seems interested in. ]
Oh! Do you like that one? Like, in particular?
no subject
She thrills softly at the question. Yes! She does like the rock. Rocks are good things, in her opinion. They are sturdy and steadfast, which are good qualities. And also, when you are strong enough, you can punch them while you train and become stronger.]
Foo!
[With one quick motion, the Mienfoo rocks back up onto her feet, not giving Escha any time to say anything before suddenly she darts off. It isn't too long before she comes running back though, carrying another rock in her paws. This one isn't as shiny as the one Escha has, but it is a bit bigger and a very lovely (or, in Mika the Mienfoo's eyes, at least) dark grey.
Bounding to a halt in front of Escha, she holds out the rock with a chirp. Here you go, she is Helping!]

-- Oh. Hunh...
[ A tiny hoppip quietly and cautiously shuffles out from behind Escha, her nervous (but still curious!) gaze trained on the direction in which Mika darted off. Escha reaches out a hand to pat her on the head, but then comes Mika's triumphant return!! Both Escha and the hoppip jump - the hoppip more than Escha, for sure - but Escha's surprise quickly turns to delight when she sees the rock! Meanwhile, hoppip has darted right back behind her trainer. ]
Oh my gosh!! [ She takes the rook, looking it over with a smile. ] It's great! Thank you so much!

Mien?
no subject
Hey, it's okay! It's just a new friend! You can say hi, right?
[ Hoppip looks up at Escha, over at the Mienfoo, then back and forth again... Then ever so cautiously, she scoots forward. Just a little. ]
... Piiip?
no subject
but this one... her pokemon definitely seems like it's a scaredy cat, and while she's not in any danger, he feels the need to step in when while she's fussing over her hoppip. ]
Everything okay here?
[ he's got three dog pokemon in tow with him - a Midnight Lycanroc with a little leather jacket on, a smaller Rockruff with a pink collar next to him, and a large Arcanine with a floppy tongue. ]
no subject
The sudden gruff voice catches her attention, and she looks up from her hoppip (who is now burying her face in Escha's sleeve) to see three dogs with an older gentleman. Of course, anyone with good good dogs is automatically trustworthy, but also, he asked if things were okay! So clearly everything is perfectly fine here. (Escha logic is flawless.) ]
Oh, um, well... it should be! I think. [ She frowns, concerned, glancing back down to the hoppip. ] I guess it's just not time for this one to be battling yet.
[ Which, given that hoppip is her starter and she has no other pokemon, poses a whole slew of other problems... ]
no subject
May I?
[ he asks, holding up a hand. if she gives the go ahead, he'll hold out the hand for the hoppip to inspect. just treating all pokemon like weird dogs has worked out so far. ]
I don't know too much about this type, but I'd agree with you. Seems strange that they'd give you one that wasn't up to a little fighting though.
[ he gives a gentle shrug. ]
I know plenty of guys who'd be willing to give you a second one that can fight, if it comes down to that.
i literally thought i tagged this back i'm so sorry fdjkls
From what I hear, yes, it does seem strange... can't things get a little dangerous on the road?
[ Though a part of her thinks that anything out here probably doesn't hold a candle to some of the more terrible monsters back home, but ehh, she can decide that one for herself eventually~ ]
Oh! Well, if someone were just going to give me one, I'd want to do something for them too! Not that... I can do much right now, I'm still new to all of this... but still! You know?
