"Hey! What'd I say?" Jean shot Gaston an annoyed glance as he tapped the screen a little too hard for his liking. And he wasn't even tapping it the right away. You had to touch the words in the little squares to make the stuff come up. Usually. The lexicon of technology wasn't always consistent. "I had to hit the bricks when the one at the last center stopped working..."

Domino gave a knicker of agreement. That man looked like he would give a Mudsdale a hard time. As for himself, he wasn't sure he would ever get big enough for Jean to ride him, but he would like to if he could. Jean was tall, but he was lean and light, so it probably wouldn't be too hard.

"I'm fixing it!"

Obviously. Gaston leans further over Jean's shoulder, getting completely and massively into his space, and taps at the screen again. "This is how it works on the little one they give you! It should work the same way on the big one."

Sadly, 17th century France wasn't great for technology either, and despite getting some lessons from more modern people, Gaston is still no pro. The computer groans a little when he taps it again, and the screen starts flickering. "You see? It's doing something!"

Steed is glad Domino understands, and whickers softly. She thinks Domino shouldn't have problems once he evolves. His trainer looks light and easier to carry. Hopefully they'll both evolve to be big enough to be the noble steeds they were meant to be!

"I don't think it's good when it starts making noises like that," Jean replied as he crossed his arms over his chest and backed off. If this guy ended up breaking the machine, he didn't want to be a part of it. There might already be wanted signs of him posted up in Violet Town... "Or when it flashes either. I just wanted to see if you can really put Pokemon in there for safekeeping, like everyone's been saying."

"Oh, that? I know how to do that."

Why didn't you just say so, Jean? Gaston pulls a Pokeball from his belt, and looks over his shoulder. "Steed! In your ball!"

His tone brooks no argument, and Steed slinks over, meekly allowing herself to be put in her ball. Then Gaston leans over the keyboard, punching the G and then the A keys with one finger, which prompts his name to come up. Then he... just kind of shoves the ball at the computer screen. "See? It's not difficult at all!"

Gaston had practiced this a lot with Team Rocket, to make sure he'd know how to make a stolen Pokemon disappear quickly.

Domino huffed quietly as Steed was basically told to go and get without her say in the matter. He didn't like the look of that trainer at all. Not a shred of respect for Pokemon. Jean was definitely confused when he first got here, but he was never unkind or bossy. He trotted over to his trainer and gently bumped his head against his hand with silent affection. Jean ran his hand over his nose with an automatic motion.

Still, this was a learning moment for Jean. He stepped forward and regarded the screen, then mimed what Gaston did. At least he figured out the part where he was supposed to put in his own name. Then he pulled out one of own Pokeballs, with Penny the Pidgeot inside, and held it near the screen.

Ding. Penny showed up in the PC just like Steed did.

"So that's it," he remarked. That was just as deceptively easy as everything in this world was. "Thanks. Couldn't figure that one out."

Steed is exactly that to Gaston: a steed. He has no interest in bonding with her, or making friends. She's a means to an end, and until she gets big enough to ride, he's not particularly interested in her.

Gaston preens like Jean experiments with the computer, clearly expecting a compliment for his excellent work. He's also half-hoping Jean will accidentally put that Pokeball into Gaston's computer--that would be a really easy capture for Team Rocket!--but he's not heartbroken when he doesn't. There'll be time to steal later.

"I told you I knew how to do it." Is he flexing? Damn straight Gaston is flexing, and admiring his own bicep. "You should stick with me, I can help you through this land."

Gaston is extremely lacking in henchmen at the moment, and Jean looks like he has potential. He's taller than LeFou, but Gaston knows he can toss him around if he gets unruly in exactly the same way.

no one makes invalid markups quite like gaston

If only Jean were aware of the memetic meaning of flexing, it would make this exchange a whole lot funnier.

"I dunno I'm on the market for a traveling companion at the moment," Jean replied, and craned his neck back as Gaston invaded his personal space. He wasn't that familiar with the smell of cologne yet, but he could tell that he was bathing in something that made his eyes water when he caught wind of it. "I've kind of got plans to face the Gym Leader here. Trying to get into this Trainer thing"
