It isn't bad at all! It's only a bit... overwhelming.

[ The Swablu is on top of her head now, preening. Its white wings almost blend in with the white of her hair. ]

Oh gosh it's nesting-! Uh- is it being in your hair specifically that's the problem, or just how huggy it's being in general?

It is quite 'huggy,' as you put it. [ She laughs at that a bit and shakes her head, which jostles Swablu enough that it flaps its wings in response. ] I had animal companions back home, but they were mice. They liked to play with my hair sometimes, too. I was telepathically linked to them, so we understood each other quite well. I suppose it's an issue of communication...

[ She seems to become lost in thought for a moment, tapping her chin with her finger. ]

This is all very new to me. I don't want to hurt its feelings, you understand. Perhaps this is part of the adjustment?

You might just need to talk to it a lot, then? Like, still giving it lots of attention, but- giving it little rewards or treats when it does what you want, I guess? That way it'll still know you care about it even when it's not actually playing with you.

[And, like, caring about it back isn't any kind of question, right? Because how could you not.]

Back home, it took me and Lion a while to really understand each other too, but after a while we could really communicate!

[ Well, that makes sense. Isn't the whole point to train these creatures? She should be able to do that fairly easily--she's learned patience with the Paladins, after all.

She gives the bird an affectionate pat (because of course she cares about the little guy), then she blinks in surprise. ]

Yeah! My friends and I found him in a desert this one time, and he followed me home. He's super useful, too! I can ride him if I need to, and he's got this cool pocket dimension thing in his mane where you can store stuff.

[He might be kind of a zombie, it's fine.]
