IC HOLIDAY GIFT EXCHANGE MEME

We know this time of year is a time of giving to others, and we also know how fun it is to give gifts to each other in-game! So, to keep from cluttering up inboxes, feel free to drop in a comment with what your character is giving their friends for the holidays!
uber_marionettist: All the love you've taken (You have forsaken)

Shit let's be Satan... I mean Santa.

Carly Nagisa is receiving her commissioned caravan... or rather, she receives an email telling her that it's ready to go. On a different continent.

However, she also receives

1x Makeup Bag
1x Lens Case

Which, lest she misconstrue the gesture, are accompanied by a note that reads

Don't get caught.

There are also a trio of small, strange costumes, clearly intended for her Mimikyu: Eevee, Meowth, and Riolu. True to form, he's flawlessly replicated the jagged mouth and floppy character that normally distinguish a Mimikyu's disguise.

It's not clear whether this is related to the other gifts or not.

As for the caravan... if she actually goes to check it out, she'll discover that it does contain her choice of amenities and is within the size and weight limitations of a Gogoat's pulling power, but some of the decisions that she left to Dirk's discretion have indeed been decided on by Dirk Strider. The whole thing has a colour scheme of white, green, and purple. Which isn't as tastefully chosen as it could be. Or perhaps it's just been chosen by someone with very different taste. Whichever. Hopefully she wanted cushions of plush, felted lime green fabric on the seating.

At least it's comfy.

Jane Crocker's doorstop is occupied by a heavy dollhouse.

Four stories high with multiple bedrooms, it also comes with a very large kitchen, a small homey dining room, another more impressive dining room for entertaining, an office, a living room, bathrooms... it's an extremely simplified version of a house Dirk remembers but she does not.

The attention to detail would be impressive from someone less notoriously obsessive than Dirk. Doors have functioning hinges, opening the miniature oven reveals a miniature cake in miniature pans, the tiny cabinets have tiny (and yet distinctly spoon shaped) handles. A fireplace that he fireproofed in case she wants to use some wood scraps to start a tiny fire, which is the kind of slightly insane logic and overpreparation that only Dirk is prone to.

Even the mirrors hung on the walls are made of actual mirrored glass, and the portrait over the fireplace is hand drawn, a particularly Dirkian rendition of Jane's doll's face (more on that in a moment). If she spends enough time poking around, she might find that this portrait actually comes off, and behind it is a tiny handwritten note and another mirror. This one has a pair of triangular shades painted on it. The note reads

Mirror, mirror, on the wall,
Who's the realest of them all?

It's not entirely clear whether Dirk intends this to mean he's actually the answer to the mirror's riddle or just the magic mirror.

Of course, it comes with dolls, all dressed in clothes. And by some miracle, Dirk successfully resisted the urge to make them anatomically correct. There are four dolls in total: Jane, Dinah, John, and Acorn. However, Dinah and Acorn are not actually tiny Pokedolls. They're basically Pokemon gijinkas. The Manthro Chaps of Pokemon. Dinah is dressed a lot like a magical girl. Acorn is really muscular. There are abs drawn on him. So that's kind of weird. Or very normal. I guess.

He's also taken pains to make Jane's doll look like this Jane and not the one from his timeline. If you want to read into that.

All of the dolls are jointed--their arms move at the shoulder and elbow, and bend at the waist, although when they do, their knees also bend. They can be "locked" like this to keep them sitting. This also means they can't bend over without being on their hands and knees... but how often is she going to need that?

John Egbert's gift comes in a bag, inside which is a note, two copies of the TM Rain Dance, and something wrapped in an orange towel, which turns out to be a Damp Rock. The note clarifies some of it: bluntly put, he saw John battle at the Aether headquarters, and he left a lot of room for improvement. Dirk goes on to detail what a Damp Rock does (extends the length of Rain Dance), what Rain Dance does (makes it rain), and why that's good for John specifically (weakening fire attacks for his Gogoat's benefit, increasing Hurricane's accuracy for his Dragonite, and so on.) There is an aside mentioning the existence of Zebstrika, just as an example in case John wants to take further advantage of the rain and use Thunder.

And that's it. No additional commentary about... anything, which honestly might be a gift in itself.
cyan_maid: (VR Jane and Dinah)

[personal profile] cyan_maid 2019-12-19 09:59 pm (UTC)(link)
Just because Jane is weary from the month's events does not mean she is going to skimp on Christmastime! Quite the opposite, really.

John will find a few things from her wrapped under the house's Christmas tree:

- The Complete Compendium of Ghost Pokemon, Vol 7 - there's rumors of an updated Volume 8 coming out soon (perhaps when Gen 8's Pokemon officially come to VR?), and for that, inside this book, there is a receipt for a preorder of the next volume and a promised home delivery. He...he still likes the Ghost Busting, right? So, he can learn about the PokeGhosts?

- A bunch of warm winter gear! A coat (admittedly from a thrift store, then dry cleaned and made sure there's no rips or anything, because the actual price of this particular coat is Too Much), scarf, hat, gloves, and some good heckin socks. If there's one thing folks from Washington know how to do, it's prepare for the cold.

- A Movie Night Gift Set. But not one of the ones you can just buy at the store, oh no. Jane handpicked the whole thing. There's a set of popping corn with toppings that you can just up and make, an assortment of confirmed peanut-free candies, and three DVDS: the Pokemon World's equivalent of Contact, The Rock, and Kazaam. She loves you, John!

Penny, similarly, will find some things under the tree as well:

- A lifesize plush Togedemaru! For some reason, a lot of other Steel types were sold out already...so hopefully she likes this one.

- Similarly to John, Penny is also getting winter gear! A coat (again, thrifted and dry cleaned and mended accordingly), scarf, hat, gloves, and socks! You all need to be kept warm and safe.

- A floating charm necklace, with a little brochure showing all the different charms you can put in it, and an order form! There's a note: Pick any 5 charms you like and put this in the mail, and they'll be delivered to you in three days! :B Penny has her pick of whatever tiny things she would like. <3

Of course, Jane is also sending out parcels to friends.

Lust will receive a pair of house slippers, a unique necklace also found while thrifting (and polished up and made nice, of course), and two dozen raspberry linzer cookies in a fancy tin.

Carly will receive a wool cap, a vintage Moon Ball brooch (again, thrifted and shined up and everything), and two dozen spiral sugar cookies in a tin depicting a little girl meeting a Swanna and her two Duckletts.

Dirk.

Yes, Dirk, there is a Santa Claus you too get presents.

In Dirk's parcel, there is a coat, thrifted and dry cleaned and mended like all the others, depicting prancing equine Pokemon. There's a wool hat and a knitted scarf and heavy duty gloves and socks just for him. She knows he's not going to be able to survive the cold without, you know, some kind of gear. She isn't heartless. And, in a tupperware container, there are two dozen chocolate orange slice cookies. Almost like cracking open a chocolate orange.

For those Jane is friendly with, you are guaranteed a pretty vintage tin of assorted holiday cookies - seems she had a lot of fun at the thrift store this year.
cethflayn: (about this size)

[personal profile] cethflayn 2019-12-20 01:18 am (UTC)(link)
What is a Christmas? What do you do? Flayn does not know these things!

But, I mean, once she does learn, she really only has one person for whom she feels she ought to give a gift, besides her Pokemon.

Steven. She knows it is not easy to pet a Grimer simply from observation. So, she has endeavored to learn about the safest thing one could use to do so, and she has bought you these gloves.

And a festive vestment! She does not know what Eevees or Eeveelutions are, but they look so cheerful and happy!

(She's trying so hard. How do you Christmas. Where's Seteth St. Cichol with his sack of toys.)

Krieg
Krieg is getting a set of twelve small bottles. Each bottle’s label is done up in bright reds and yellows and blacks, adorned with skulls and demons and named things like ‘Firearrhea of the Damned’ and ‘Organ Cauteriser’ and ‘The Sphincter Shrinker’.

It’s a hot Sauce set. But this is not your granny’s hot sauce. Not unless your granny has a history as a circus fire-eater, that is. This is the best and hottest of hot sauces the pokemon world has to offer. This is the sort of hot sauce that takes no prisoners and leaves no survivors.

Armin hopes Krieg will enjoy it. He also hopes Krieg will keep it far, far away from him.

Shiro
Shiro is getting a leather album. Which… is nice? The real gift isn’t revealed though until Shiro actually opens the album. It turns out to be a photo album. The first few pages are filled with fairly standard scenes — Shiro and his pokemon, the house on the beach, the paladins, Matt— but if he gets further in, the pictures get diverse, featuring just about all the people Shiro has met and befriended here. There are even some pictures of people who have sadly left already.

Unfortunately, Armin hasn’t been able to collect pictures of all the people Shiro knew, but he’s tried to find photos of as many people as he could, even if it is just a quick little snapshot. (Jean’s got a whole two pages of pictures; Armin had plenty of those) It’s also pretty clear that there is no way Armin could’ve taken all these pictures himself, so he must have been quietly reaching out to the people Shiro knows for any pictures. The final few pages of the album are empty (though one is helpfully marked ‘Wedding’), presumably for Shiro to fill up himself.

Rose
A book called ’Culture in Colour’. It turns out to be a photo book full of gorgeous photos from across the pokemon world featuring various local cultures, their ways of dress, festivals and unique was of interacting with pokemon. There is some text and explanation, though it’s mostly very short (perhaps to be used as a jumping point towards further research). What the book really shines in is those gorgeous photos of all the various people and cultures on this little poke-earth.

Maya
A set of Stephen Kingler books, featuring many of the classics. Along with it is a lovely set of bookmarks. Can’t read without a bookmark! In addition to that there is a nice travel-sized first aid kit, stocked with everything someone could need to treat an injury on the road. There is also a note tucked into it with ‘First Krieg Aid’ on it.

Newt
Newt will be getting a set of Luxury balls, to house those pokemon that choose to stay with him more permanently in the best circumstances possible. There are also two soothe bells to help calm the more anxious pokemon he might take in. Finally there is a hefty book titled ‘Treating Common Pokemon Ailments’. Want to know how to help a Bulbasaur with a droopy leaf? Or a Feebas with a scale problem? Or a Quillava whose fire doesn’t burn so brightly anymore? This book is there to help.

Jack
Jack is getting… a tool belt? Is this a subtle hint he should do more dadly home improvement? Ah, no! Not unless tool belts regularly come with a set of thongs, a spatula and a meat fork. It’s a grill belt! Just sling it on for all your grilling needs. Along with the belt, there is also a shirt with ‘Grill Sergeant’ on it.

Jean
Jean is getting a box full of everything an aspiring trainer might desire. There is a Magnet, as well as an Evolite, several Rare Candies (3) and a TM (Shadow Ball). In addition to this, Armin added a Stephen Kingler book. Hey, Jean liked them before, he might like them again.

Sasha
Sasha is getting a cute sweater with ‘No worries, eat pizza’ on the front. Along with that, there is an easy to follow Pasta cookbook. Armin made sure it isn’t too heavy on the text and has plenty of pictures. He also made sure there is a recipe for pasta salad in it. Maybe seeing the real deal will help her turn away from Shiro’s kitchen sins.

Shadowmaru & Hank
They will both receive a nice tin of Christmas cookies. It isn’t much, but they helped him find his lost pokemon again, they are getting thank you baked goods until the end of time.

Kazuki
For Kazuki, Armin has gotten a sleek new set of headphones. There are small slots in the band to which one can attach sets of pokemon ears for that cute pokemon look (though it is also possible to wear them as is). Armin included a set of Plusle, Eevee, and Oshawott ears, though the booklet that comes with them promises that the possibility of buying every and all sets of pokemon ears one could ever imagine, shiny and regular!

Well, just as long as those pokemon have ears, of course.

real talk, i am bad at remembering everybody in one go, so edits might be forthcoming.

shiro2hero: (oops accidentally charming)

FROM SHIRO: with love!

[personal profile] shiro2hero 2019-12-23 08:07 am (UTC)(link)
Matt: There's the usual, first of all. A labcoat, with thickened material -- good for long winter nights at work. Some specialty coffee. A rice bag shaped like a Furret for applying heat to an aching knee... and an envelope. An envelope with a voucher for Resort Gorgeous, specifically for one of the little couples' cabins the resort offers. "Want to get away?" written in Shiro's loopy handwriting underneath.

Keith: First and foremost, a joke. Sort of. Because this is Shiro and he thinks he's hilarious here. It's a set of these. But buried in that box is a pair of riding gloves, helmet, and jacket. All designed in red and black. The kind used by trainers who prefer to use flying pokemon. "You still owe me a few more races," reads the note. Tucked into one of the gloves is a setting for a stone of some kind, shaped like a pair of dogtags. "For your Mega-stone".

Lance: Congratulations Lance! You are the proud owner of a small, blue egg! Let it hatch and you'll have yourself a nice, round friend. But that's not all. There's a pair of dinner coupons for a local place on the Island, tucked into a basket of self care supplies. Don't worry, they don't smell like Forest Magic.

Pidge: This year, Pidge receives a ticket to the science museum in Pewter City. And a handwritten one for "One Free Round Trip Flight Via Skarmory". Additionally, tucked into the box is an egg. It's warm, but very, very light. And when it hatches... she will have her own spooky friend. There's a pack of peanut butter cookies shaped like Rowlets, too.

Allura: In a box marked FRAGILE, Allura will find a crystal. One that glows a soft blue when held. Once it starts glowing, the interior design is revealed. It's wrapped carefully in a soft, gauzy blue scarf for her hair, with tasseled ends -- ends which hold a set of faux gym badges. "For your future victories", says the note.

Romelle: ... it's a big box. With this. Just. That. Tucked inside. Wrapped up in the big, cozy garment, however, is a little blue egg. Walk around enough with that, Romelle and you'll have a brand new friend.

James: A care package. A warm sweater, scarf. Pokemon treats. As well as an assortment of potions, revives, and trail food. Some of those little instant hand warmers too -- the kind you open and shake up for quick heat. "Take care of yourself out there. You're more than capable, but if you ever need to fall back, there's a place for you," reads the note.

Heather: Sorry, Heather. You get a bag. Opening it reveals it's got an apology note from Shiro, as well as a sweater rolled up at the bottom. It's a nice warm one, with the words "I SURVIVED CERULEAN CAVE" stitched into it.

Krieg: A heavy duty scarf. It's designed to look like a Blaziken. However, stitched into the opposite side from the design is the phrase, "LET ME PUNCH GOD". Tucked into the scarf is a bottle of "Flaming Hot Scotch: from the makers of Kill A Kangaskhan Rum!"

Armin: First of all, Armin is getting a sweater. It's a nice warm one, with the words "I SURVIVED CERULEAN CAVE" stitched into it. Second of all, the sweater is gently folded around a set of maps -- not just any maps. They're old, nautical maps of the seas around Jhoto. They may be outdated, and not super useful for navigation, but they have those crazy monsters doodled in the far corners.

Kazuki: Fingerless gloves! They're supposedly good for anyone playing an instrument -- letting your fingers move while keeping them from freezing in the process. They come with a packet of "PikaBrew" throat tea. Good for cold weather and keeping your lungs healthy!

Yuuko: A pair of tickets to see the Kimono Girls' latest performance -- you know, once Ecruteak is up and running again. It boasts a dramatic reenactment of the Daylight Savings Battle, with dinner coupons at a local restaurant.

Newt: A book on space. Since this is Pokemon World, it's pretty fanciful and speculative, but it's mostly big beautiful photos. The kind of thing a kid would get a kick out of, more than all the science jargon. Newt also gets a pack of cookies.

Sasha: A pair of leather gloves. They look like they'd be good for holding onto a Pokemon's saddle or harness while riding. Additionally, there's a nice little case, for holding Badges. And a note -- "For all your future wins".

Maya: A sweater, scarf, mittens combo. They're blue, because of course they are. The letter with them reads: "In case cold bothers you more than it does Krieg."

Lust: A set of pokeball themed bath bombs. As well as some fancy hair treatments (he probably asked Lance to help), and a note of gratitude for being such a good friend.

Ford: ... a plastic sand shovel. It's pink. However!! After a day or so, another package arrives, and this one is, apparently, the real gift. It's a nice warm turtleneck, with the words "I SURVIVED CERULEAN CAVE" stitched into it across the chest.

Annie: Just... this. It's food, don't fight him.

Jean: An anonymous box of cookies, from a specialty bakery. It's sent without a note, without a return address. Huh. What a mystery.

OKAY if I forgot anyone I will... add them later....

Having experience in professional photography alongside her reporter nonsense, Carly rented out a camera and had some snazzy looking posters made up with the shots she took; so everyone gets some kind of result of that!

Jack; because sometimes you gotta do a good for boss:
- Meowth group-shot poster (Basically, Goldmember and her new alolan meowth kitten being cute on Piles of Cash)
- A small bucket of berry-made 'cat' treats

+ 1 note asking what to keep an eye out for in Kanto; hint hint place those requests bossman.

Dirk; somehow, this is her best friend:
- Puppet and Dragon poster (Or- sometimes you convince a passing trainer with a hydreigon to do some poses with some weird muppet rejects)
- A set of dry-erase markers that can be refilled, + a small whiteboard slate
- Some earbuds...that she felted the outside of in orange.

Fred; because a few days of scuba dragon hunting and trap building makes people friends:
- Weathered Map effect on an island poster; 'X marks the spot' (A shot from Whirl Islands, with some neat effects caused by the local pokemon and lingering sparks; a bit of sepia tone was added for ~map effect~)
- A Really Big Throw Blanket. It's pretty warm, but the goal was that he could fit all his pokemon in a group snooze.

Jane; sometimes, you gotta acknowledge an awkward orange hat connection in a more positive manner:
- Flying sunset pokemon poster (A shot from up on her Golurk, watching passing bird pokemon as the sun goes down)
- A braided charm bracelet, which little beads representing pokemon can get attached to. It comes with a note that says she doesn't know all of Jane's pokemon, so she just sent a bunch of coloured beads.

John; the same honestly:
- Ruins of Alph ghosts and letters poster (Which is to say, she just took a neat shot inside the ruins)
- A glasses cleaning set.
thedifferencebetween: (this is my sad face)

From Handsome Jack

[personal profile] thedifferencebetween 2019-12-24 03:35 pm (UTC)(link)

All his fellow Rockets will receive a poster. Of Handsome Jack himself. He's making finger guns at the camera and winking, flanked on either side by his muscular Houndoom and his rather feral looking Mightyena. On the bottom, in bright yellow and black outlined block letters it reads: 'YOU'RE DOING PRETTY OKAY!'. It's framed in a black metal frame.

Carly will also be getting a generic box of holiday candy and a small stuffed Bulbasaur wearing a Santa hat.

sleepallthewayhome: (Newt and her mom)

From Newt!

Shiro: First of all, Shiro is getting an escape rope because everyone is this year. The second part of the gift is a collection of pictures she drew of planets shaped like pokemon. There’s little notes in the corner saying things like ‘but only nice monsters live here’ because you know, just in case. And lastly there’s some candy and pokemon treats.

Hank: 1 Escape rope. You’re all getting one. Also a collection of hot chocolates she found in a store. And a mystery novel a nice lady at the book store helped her pick out. Also pokemon treats.

Krieg: Continues with the 1 escape rope. Krieg also gets some pictures Newt drew of fire pokemon and also one of Krieg. She tried very hard and also he is on fire in the picture. She also added some pokemon treats and some cookies she bought.

Armin: 1 Escape rope. Also a card with a picture inside. The picture was drawn with love by an Eevee. There is a photo of said Eeevee in a little Santa hat. Phobos says Happy Holidays!

Jane: 1 Escape rope and some treats for her pokemon with a little note saying she hopes they’re doing alright.

Krieg: This world need more guns. That not being an option she’s bought him some healing items for his pokemon and some cookies for him. Also some alcohol. At the very least that is still a thing here.

There’s also a map with places circled and a list of things/activities with a note saying.
“Pick a thing. Next year we’re going on an adventure.”

Armin: A thick notebook for him to use in his water pokemon project. She’s also put in a book of names and their meanings. There’s a note inside stating she got a copy for herself too.

Shiro: A collection of cookies and some gloves.

Sasha: A box of baked goods she bought as well as a card.

foolishwren: it's a game and i'm winning (being gay isn't a choice)

From Heather Mason

[personal profile] foolishwren 2019-12-25 10:18 am (UTC)(link)
WELL THIS MONTH THESE PAST FEW MONTHS THIS WHOLE DAMN YEAR SURE DID HAPPEN.

Heather's seen a lot of people come and go (at this point far more the latter than the former), so she doesn't really... know much of the current crop too closely. But that's not going to stop her from spoiling the shit out of the ones she does. And even some she doesn't! Because if this most recent tire fire taught her anything, it's that at any moment a giant monster could show up and eat all the light in the world and then everything's fucked!

Live fast, kick ass, and give presents.

Firstly, each member of the Aurora League is getting something, because even if she still doesn't know all of them too well, they kind of did save the world together.

Envy, of course, always gets a small boatload. First, he gets a framed print of some pretty Murkrow art. Then, a subscription to a chocolate "snackbox" service (with the stipulation that he shares them with her). And of course you can never have too many cool shirts that she can steal whenever she wants, so he'll also be getting a gray one with a cunning Meowth and the words "LOOK CUTE, GET PAID", and a black one with this bitchin' Silphally art on it, in honor of Laelaps' evolution. In fact, Laelaps itself deserves a celebratory treat too, so included with Envy's gifts is a custom-made black leather collar studded with shards of Dusk Stone for the big Dark doggo.

Armin might be a pipsqueak but he was kind of the Aurora League MVP out there. Accordingly, his first gift is a giant collectible mug from the Viridian Venomoths (it's so huge that it's kind of impractical to sip drinks out of, but it makes a pretty good soup-cup) with the words "MVT: Most Valuable Trainer". Inside the mug are an assortment of foil-wrapped truffles. He also gets a sturdy, navy-blue messenger bag with this watery menagerie on the flap. Inside that are some notebooks. Because he seems like the kind of guy who needs a lot of those.

Ford receives a poster print of this with a note saying "HEY GRANDPA CHECK THIS OUT" because Heather has decided after much deliberation that sending Ford children's science materials many grade levels below his five billion PHDs is the current funniest thing to do. But he also gets a mug shaped like a Beheeyem head, a Spiritomb-print tie that glows in the dark, and a box set of the first five seasons of The XY Files.

Riku gets a bomber jacket with a quite badass Charizard silhouette emblazoned on the back, along with some small workout dumbbells. Because he like, is super into training and stuff still, right? He also gets a few photos of the babies she adopted from him some months back-- including one of one of his murdermanders caught in the act of shredding a roll of paper towels.

Cecil gets a fluffy, extremely plush comforter with all the vibrant colors of a Volcarona (the fluff is even different lengths to correspond to which parts of the Volcarona are colored that way!), a small fruitbasket, and... this mousepad. She doesn't even know if he uses a computer. But it's cute and good for the wrists. Everyone can use wrist support while scrolling!

Sion gets a blackberry pie-- not home-made (she doesn't want to kill him), but from a nice bakery in Goldenrod. The top is decorated with honeyed blackberries in the classic 'eye' shape that's typically shorthand for the Psychic-type. There's also a card included with an Alakazam and the words "ARE YOU PSYCHIC? BECAUSE..." on the front. On the inside, whatever was there originally was crossed out and replaced with "... you totally guessed that thing's type was Psychic!"

Ryner receives a box of lemon biscuits shaped like Joltiks, as well as a small framed photograph. The quality of the photo is terrible, but it seems like somehow Heather's 'Gear managed to capture a shot of Ryner's Ditto partway into transforming into her own Manectric. And, of course, said Manectric's reaction. There aren't really any real-life equivalents to this scenario, but it's got this energy going on. Look, she doesn't know. She saw the photo, she laughed, and she got it printed. The frame is actually really nice.

______________

AS FOR THE REST OF HER FRIENDS...

Lust gets a large, decorative paper lantern shaped and colored like a shiny Lampent, a jogging hoodie with Aggretstufful on the back (because you know they've been binging this show) above the words "DON'T TALK TO ME BEFORE NOON". She's also getting a package of these adorable (and delicious) fudgey Spoink cake-pops.

Shiro gets a shovel. Attached to the shovel is a note that reads "IF YOU LOVE DIGLETTS SO MUCH WHY DON'T YOU GO DIG A HOLE AND LIVE WITH THEM". But a couple of days later another package will arrive with a box of peanut-butter chocolates, a cute Girafarig sweater, and an absolutely massive framed print of this. It's the size of a big-screen TV.

Newt gets some nice pens, a small sketchbook, and an EXTREMELY squishy Swinub plush. Heather may not have talked to her much lately, but she sure does remember the kid's traumatic backstory and all these ALIEN INVASIONS can't have been fun. The attached note reads "Heard you were a hero to the kids of Ecruteak earlier this month! This guy won't be able to fight like your Pokemon do, but he makes a great pillow! Get some rest, you earned it!"

Dirk gets a chunky boardbook called "Bobby's First Battle", an educational tale depicting a Youngster's first outing with his own Pokemon, intended to teach kids the basics of on-the-road battle etiquette. It specifically emphasizes being careful not to challenge trainers who are too far above your level.

To start things off, Egon's getting a sweater- however, not a holiday-specific one. Instead, it's something a bit more subdued and nonseasonal- so it's sensible to wear year-round (...at least during actual sweater weather. Egon, that is not an invitation to experiment with extended summertime sweater wear). It's made from a soft, comfortable yarn in a medley of many earthy tones, knitted into an elaborate pattern depicting a multitude of different fossils that have been unearthed and identified in the Pokéverse.

Ray will awaken to find a very sizeable Snorlax beanbag chair beside his bed. If he decides to break it in the second he sees it, he'll find it has a belly big enough for a grown adult to comfortably sit in, with stuffing springy enough that you won't find yourself becoming immediately submerged within it and then dejectedly having to phone your local pokémon rangers to dispatch a special rescue team to pull you out from the fluffy clutches of your cozy prison.

Peter is gifted a lengthy western novel, "Tauros Tucker's Terror on the Train Tracks". A rugged cowboy is pictured on the paperback cover, his silhouette looming high in the sky behind an imposing steam locomotive travelling straight ahead, as though it's about to run the reader right over. The tagline on the front reads "Tucker's taking a one-way ticket to trouble", and the plot synopsis on the back promises men of mystery, thrilling train-centric fight scenes, and elaborate overly-metaphoric prose.

(all of the above additionally get to treat themselves to a fresh batch of brownies- cut in 4x4 squares so they each get an equal share)

Meanwhile, John receives a handmade Ghostbusters-themed holiday card prominently featuring a green paper cut-out of what's supposed to be Slimer with glued-on googly eyes on the cover, alongside rough approximations of the ghostbusters and Janine. All four of the present ghostbusters' signatures are inside, along with a small bag of peppermint candies taped on the blank page beside it.

Finally, Jack and Lance both get (3) gingerbread cookies each to return The Favor of the hot cocoa. They're all cut out in bird shapes, with one being frosted blue, another frosted red, and the last frosted yellow.

whymustifeel: not to spread my gay agenda but this song gives me shaggy @ fred vibes (01)

From Fred Jones

[personal profile] whymustifeel 2019-12-28 11:19 pm (UTC)(link)
So... Fred's bad at giving gifts. This is not a surprise. He's only ever had about four friends, and one of them is a dog. And it's not like Mayor Jones was ever much of a gift-giver.

The point is, he has no idea how close he has to be with someone before it's normal to give them a gift, and he doesn't want to leave anyone out. The end result of this is that literally every single person who's ever positively interacted with Fred in any way will be receiving:
x5 snare traps
x5 net traps
x1 scarf of varying design. The ONLY reason this isn't an ascot is because it's in the middle of winter and he begrudgingly decided a scarf would be warmer. (which does not stop him from wearing an ascot in December...) Design can be whatever design or color player decides, but bear in mind he's not the most fashionable of people. It's probably not gonna be anything fancy. If you would rather not have to bother deciding, just assume it's orange, white, or blue.

Additionally, Carly will be receiving the above as well as one mini-catapult made of hand carved wood- far better quality than the shoddy design Fred whipped up back in the Whirl Islands. It comes with x5 Ultra Balls; clearly, it's able to fling Pokeballs at a distant wild Pokemon without having to get too close and losing the element of surprise. Especially useful when trying to catch stronger Pokemon that might attack a person, like a Dragon-type!

Though Pokeballs are by no means the only thing one could fling with it. Carly's Joltik, for example, is just the right size to get catapulted at an unsuspecting wild Pokemon or enemy.

Enjoy...?

From Peter Venkman

[personal profile] neverstudied 2019-12-29 01:32 am (UTC)(link)
Venkman is slow to warm up to people and even slower to actually trust people. He also just outright hates Christmas. As a result, despite being here for a full year now, he's mostly restricting gifts to the other Ghostbusters. With one exception.

First, let's get the obvious out of the way-

Winston:
x1 Wide Lens
x1 Scope Lens
x1 Zoom Lens
x1 Hardcover copy of one of Agatha Cradily's best-selling mystery novels.
x1 Collection of books specifically on Mudsdale training. The titles are like "How to Think Like a Mudsdale", "Mudsdale for Dummies", and "There are No Problem Mudsdale, Only Problem Trainers"...

It's possible he's trying to hint at something.

Ray:
x1 Thick Club
x1 Quick Powder
x1 Metal Powder
x1 Box set of horror movies starring Jellicent Price.
x1 Box set of horror B-movies ranging from Murderous Mimes from Outer Space to Attack of the Killer Cherubi.

Venkman is fully aware of where Ray's priorities lie.

Egon:
x1 pack of Pewter Crunchies
x1 pack of Rage Candy Bars
x1 pack of Lava Cookies
x1 pack of Old Gateaux
x1 pack of Shalour Sables
x1 pack of Sweet Hearts
x1 pack of Twinkays
x1 Rocky Helmet

Venkman is fully aware of where Egon's priorities lie.

Ford:
Frankly, Venkman hasn't talked to Ford much; but he figures it's in his best interests to make sure that even if Egon insists on burning bridges between him and Ford, that Venkman and the other Ghostbusters remain on his good side- or at least, his neutral side.

That and Venkman just kinda feels bad about the whole thing.

Ford is receiving two gifts, both on the first night of Hanukkah. The first is a hardcover field guide specifically focused on Dark, Psychic, and Ghost-type Pokemon- identifying their appearances, locations, behaviors, etc, all accompanied with rather beautiful illustrations. The book is an older edition, and a bit outdated compared to the Pokedex, but goes into further details about specifics that the Pokedex never mentions: for example, the different behaviors of Sprout Tower's wild Gastly compared to Gastly from Lavender Town. (The Sprout Tower Gastly are respectful of the monks and tend to be far more disciplined, whereas Gastly raised in Lavender Town tend to be more volatile and emotional.) Accompanying this is a note that says that Venkman hopes Ford doesn't already have this copy.

The other gift is... A rock? A geode, to be specific. It's accompanied by two more notes, one of which is decidedly not written by Venkman, given the childish drawings on the paper. The writer did sign her name in big, shaky, block letters- "SIGOURNEY", Venkman's Beheeyem and Roswell's daughter. The majority of the note is made up of odd patterned dots- possibly meant to call to mind the flashing patterns of a Beheeyem's hand lights. It's completely impossible to decipher for a human, no matter how much Ford may try.

The second note is written by Venkman, and basically explains that Sigourney found out he was sending Ford a gift and pestered him into letting her send something to him and her mother. She picked out the rock herself at a gift shop. Sigourney's note goes into further detail about this, and also goes on a few rambling tangents about her trainer(s), before wishing her mother well.

First of all, everyone who was present of their own will for that whole Cerulean Cave business [NPCs included, except those Aether scientists >:(] gets a basket containing a bottle of very fancy hard liquor and a box of chocolates imported from Kalos. The decorative ribbon for each basket matches a piece of clothing worn by the recipient at the time.

(We sure as hell deserve to treat ourselves, guys.)

With that out of the way, every character who has positively interacted with Cecil more than once gets another basket, containing the following:

- 1 handknit scarf, two colors (matches a known Pokémon from their team), striped
- 1 TM (Fire Blast, Blizzard, Thunder or Earthquake)
- 12 homemade cookies (chocolate chips, no icing)
- 1 free egg voucher (to be used at random, or whenever his next egg-pocalypse happens)
