How do you explain gears to someone who doesn't know about them?

"They're the little things that make clocks work. Um. Metal circles with teeth?"

It still doesn't sound familiar, but that might just be her memory; a place like the Holy City may very well have had mechanical clocks and Cassandra just didn't know. "Oh."

"I guess they might not have clocks where you come from," Akane says. "Are you from the past? I mean-- from before there's stuff like... electricity. Running water."

"The... past, yes." At least, she thinks this might be the future. Or a future? There don't seem to be any yoma or Awakened Beings here, but it could just be that they're in a different place altogether. She wishes she could still sense yoma energy; that would be helpful right now, if only to confirm that there isn't anyone with yoma energy here to read.

"Right," Akane says. "A lot of this stuff seems pretty futuristic to me and we had those things. It must be even more unbelievable to you."

Cassandra just nods. All of this is unbelievable to her.

"Anyway," Akane says awkwardly. "Do you have any questions about the Ruins?"

Cassandra's not even sure where to begin. "A lot?"

Cassandra is quiet for a long moment. Then she sighs. "I'm...not good at this sort of thing."
