They're-- marine animals. Well, water-type and ice-type, which is how this world classifies them. Endangered, I think, at least in this part of the world. My friend Armin works with a breeding program for them, trying to build the species back up. Which is why I said he'd probably be happy to take them?

You're-- in the world of Pokemon. Which is what the lapras is and probably what those other creatures are. They're cute but powerful animals that enjoy ritual combat. Basically.

'Cause last I checked, other than, like seals and shit they didn't really function on land. And even then seals aren't exactly... useful... on land. [Which is why lapras is confusing the ever loving hell out of him.]

... Ritual combat. You know what, everything else has been stupid and makes no sense up to this point that I probably should stop questioning it. Because last time I did that shit I ended up in a hell of a predicament.

I hitched a lift to Goldenrod the first chance I got, so I never really visited Cherrygrove or Violet or any of those other towns between New Bark and here, but you can't really rely on there being anyone to hitchhike with. I got lucky.
