Once her broadcast is finished, Urianger just kind of sighs before turning to look at her. ]
Mistress Ziva, if thou art most assuredly finished, I would ask for thy focus as our current endeavor requires.
[ It's mostly his endeavor. He's the one who wants to uncover the secrets of the Pokemon world, but look. He's a nerd he needs all the help he can get. ]
Whilst these ruins see an absence of yond "tall grass," the likelihood of encountering such hostile creatures within as without increases with every ilm explored. Such an inevitability shouldst see us prepared to face that which may lurk within these storied walls.
[ Translation: Yeah, there isn't any tall grass to worry about, but pokemon will probably still jump us. ]

Sorry. It's been weeks but I'm still trying to get used to things being so quiet.
[She means overall. It seems odd to go weeks without the world as they know it threatening to burn down around their ears, or being tasked to help stop some war. And more "recently" back home all that business with the First.
She starts past, but pauses beside him, just before the threshold of the entrance, where she turns and leans back against the stone, arms folding casually, eyes scanning their surroundings in complete contradiction with--]
But don't worry so much! I have my Pokemon patrolling the perimeter.

Aye. Given the very nature of our travails on both the source and first, 'tis rare we see so much time afforded us. [ Says the man who has been ass deep in almost non-stop research. OKAY BUD.
Urianger starts to put away his notes but pauses to give her a Very Skeptical look at her words, his eyebrow raised and hand going to his chin in thought. ]
Hmm...Thy Pokemon was able to understand and execute such a request?
[ It's not that he thought them stupid, they were clearly capable of executing battle commands. It's just "patrol the perimeter" is much more complex than asking it to attack.
Still half in thought, he looks over at his own pokemon. Up until this point, the Unown had been mimicking Urianger by pretending to scrutinize the hieroglyphics on the wall. When it realizes Urianger is no longer focusing on his notes, however, it floats over to Ziva to spin around next to her. ]
To think them so intelligent...Given their place within the structure of this world and her people, I must needs admit I did dismiss that very notion. [ Dude's curious now, what have you done. ] Tell me, didst thou dedicate thy time to teach such commands, or was it already so capable when thou captured it?
[ HE THINKS HE KNOWS THE ANSWER BUT....just to be sure.... ]

But also because upsetting Urianger was... kind of akin to kicking a puppy. Maybe just a bit above that. The man was so understanding and patient, she didn't want to repay that by upsetting him.
She wasn't afraid to tease the twins, or Thancred. She knew better than to try it with Y'shtola for many, many reasons (she was the prized pupil of Master Matoya, she knew black magic, you don't ever, ever, ever piss off your potential healers, she could send a man's confidence up in flames with the ferocity of an inferno, snap his masculinity in two with but a single, calmly spoken word-- just to name a few), and Tataru could give back just as wickedly as she got. Urianger, though- suffice it to say she wasn't willing to push the teasing too far. It felt as if there should be more to it, but she couldn't put a finger on the why of it, other than it felt wrong, somehow.
So, yes, she was quite relieved to see him take the invitation, and happy to talk about her team, besides.]
It seems to vary between creatures. Even within the same species their personalities seem as varied as people.
[She flashed the unown a smile that caused her eyes to crinkle, lifting a hand up to give it an affectionate little nudge, since it didn't really have a head to pat.]
They're damned smart, that's for certain. The younger wild ones needed to be taught, but the older lot seem to understand me just fine without me having to teach them. Some were just stubborn about it.

But he also welcomed the new information. He found himself constantly surprised and intrigued Pokemon and what they could do. He wished he had a way to study the Aether of this new world, assuming such fundamental principles still existed here. (But if not for Aether, then how are Pokemon capable of such feats of magic?) ]
Interesting. Were it not for my current research into the more mysterious aspects of this, the world of Pokemon, I would be most intrigued to learn more. Shouldst thou take heed of other such behavior, however, pray make note that I might later investigate further.
[ The Unknown, Eo, does a happy little spin before floating over to nudge Urianger. ]
Tagging this first so Moss can get her sample done!
His request actually earns a short laugh, not teasing this time, though.]
You know, you may just be the only one of our circle still willing to read my reports. You're also the only one who's never volunteered feedback about them... Should I take your silence as acceptance, or are you simply too kind to point out my literary shortcomings?
no subject
Her questions cause him to chuckle softly and shake his head. ]
Thine reports...provideth a sequence of events true to necessity. Whilst sometimes sparce, 'tis rare I must needs seek thee out to fully grasp that which occurred. Shouldst thou wish to behold true "literary shortcomings," I would endeavor thee to seek out Mistress Lyse upon our return to the Source.

Suffice to say, my lady, thine own reports art acceptable.
[ Barely. But at least they make sense most of the time. ]

Oh gods... I can't remember the last time I laughed that hard!
[She needs a few more breaths to calm down, but then something registers, and the mirth slowly melts from her features, making way for realization.]
... Now hold just a moment... If Lyse is no longer a member of the Scions- does that make ME worst by default?!
[Because that honor SURELY didn't fall to Thancred, Y'shtola, Alphinaud, or even Alisaie. She's read Alisaie's reports, she knows!
She's shooting Urianger a scrutinizing look now, and if she were still in possession of her tail it would be ticking furiously back and forth. Instead the only tell is the squint of her eyes.]
