Sento Kiryu | Kamen Rider Build

[Lavender Town]
Sento is leafing through an old travel pamphlet looking remarkably unimpressed. "Ghosts. Really, it's all probably just mass hysteria brought on by the current mass hysteria of...whatever is currently up with that music." He's not talking to anyone in particular save for the increasingly-nervous looking Scorbunny trotting along by his side. Somehow, he's managed to avoid Ghost-type Pokemon up until now. Somehow. ("There's a reasonable explanation," he said, "just because they call them ghost-type Pokemon doesn't mean they're actually ghosts," he said...)

And that...is something materializing behind him. A Gastly, not that he'd know the proper nomenclature. He's still engrossed in the brochure. His Scorbunny, however, has noticed it, and it has started reacting appropriately--by jumping up and down and making a lot of panicked noises while waving its arms around in an attempt to attract the attention of its very focused Trainer. "Not you too, Tank," Sento says with a sigh. "It's clearly just a ploy to tourists worked up enough to spend a great deal of money--" He's cut off as his Scorbunny jumps up there in a panic and kicks him in the head, forcing him to turn in the direction of the Gastly--

--which has vanished with a laugh, because of course it has. "What was that for?!" He's getting chattered at by the poor Scorbunny, and as soon as he turns back around, of course the Gastly comes back. Tank the Scorbunny runs a paw down his face. This is going to be one of those days, isn't it?

[Network, also in Lavender Town because why not]
I appear to have found myself in a situation and require assistance.

[Because text, as everyone knows, is better for saving what little remains of one's dignity.]

I was running a bit of an experiment, you see, and I was unaware my Magnemite would react to that Berry in that manner, and I'm not sure I can survive a fall from this height.

[Details? Who needs details?]

I would imagine the authorities are likely going to find me sooner rather than later given the disruption to the radio tower, but if anyone could provide the necessary assistance now, I'm sure things won't blow up into such a big fuss.

[There is a very long pause.]

And if you find a Scorbunny that appears to be laughing its head off, that one's mine, if you could herd him this way, I would appreciate it. He hasn't been very helpful.

"Oh, no, the music here is shown to be far more likely to induce anxiety-like symptoms in humans rather than Pokemon."

The female voice isn't actually looking at him, instead focused intently on a Pokegear while the Impidimp on her head stares evenly at Sento.

"But ghosts are very real, they're considered their own unique type of Pokemon, in the same pseudo-elemental vein as Fairy and Psychic."
carbonatedscientist: (smirk)

[personal profile] carbonatedscientist 2020-06-03 03:37 am (UTC)(link)
Sento sighs and yet again holds himself back on going on and on about how the creatures here clearly do not obey the laws of physics because he's just met this person and maybe not going off on that tear is a good idea. For now. "I am aware of that, yes, but that's just a name, it's not like they're really ghosts, and my companion here seems to be a bit jumpy despite the music clearly being meant to spook human tourists."

Tank now has his little arms crossed and is grumbling what probably passes for Scorbunny profanity under his breath, though he does take a moment to wave at the Impidimp.

[personal profile] firstonesexpert 2020-06-03 03:46 am (UTC)(link)
The Impidimp waves back with a very familiar air of exhausted patience.

"Why don't you believe they're real?" Now she looks at him, maroon eyes staring with an all-too-intense curiosity. "This place clearly doesn't obey the standard laws of physics as we might know them within our home universes, so there's nothing to suggest that ghosts don't have a tangible presence here, if they don't on ours."
carbonatedscientist: (sassy)

[personal profile] carbonatedscientist 2020-06-04 03:07 am (UTC)(link)
You get Tank, Impidimp. Tank knows that air quite well and gives the other Pokemon a shrug and a shake of his head.

Sento sighs the sigh of a man whose home universe doesn't obey any other universe's normal laws of physics but sees nothing wrong with it anyway. "Things here just haven't been sufficiently analyzed, that's all, but to think there's an entire subclass of Pokemon with abilities that stem from being dead strikes me as absurd. The abilities may mimic what one might interpret as being a ghost, but I'm sure there's a reasonable explanation for it."

Beside him, the Scorbunny makes a sort of "blah, blah, blah" gesture.
firstonesexpert: (SCIENCE)

[personal profile] firstonesexpert 2020-06-04 07:57 am (UTC)(link)
"There's an entire subclass that revolves around extrasensory perception, in the forms of telepathy, future vision and telekinesis!" she says gleefully. "And multiples that have successfully integrated technological capabilities and fully organic forms to be able to store intense electrical charges safely inside of themselves! With training they can even be used to output exact wattages and charges! Why wouldn't there be a species that can exist with the same capabilities that focus on non-tangible powers and fear-based phenomena?"
carbonatedscientist: (sassy)

[personal profile] carbonatedscientist 2020-06-07 03:36 am (UTC)(link)
"It's purely a matter of semantics; the word 'Ghost' and all of this travel literature"--he's waving around some brochures that are absolutely playing up a spooky tour angle--"suggests that something dead would effectively be creating an entire subspecies, which is patently absurd."

My God.

You wouldn't be talking about the Goldenrod Radio Tower, would you? Because I work there. Maybe I could smooth things out for you.
carbonatedscientist: (hmmmmm)

[personal profile] carbonatedscientist 2020-06-03 03:46 am (UTC)(link)
Ah, that's a shame. I'm actually at the one in Lavender Town!

Or on it, anyway.

Stuck to the outside some distance up. So is the Magnemite.
fingersandteeth: (unsure)

[personal profile] fingersandteeth 2020-06-03 06:12 am (UTC)(link)
Um. I'll see if my bosses can contact the other Tower?
carbonatedscientist: (scientifically excited)

[personal profile] carbonatedscientist 2020-06-04 03:05 am (UTC)(link)
I had been hoping to avoid too much of a fuss; really, someone with a larger flying Pokemon should be able to get us down without attracting the authorities.

Though I am honestly surprised we haven't disrupted the broadcast. Perhaps they've reinforced this tower against any mischief from electric-type Pokemon.

[Or physicists who got in over their heads.]
fingersandteeth: (Default)

[personal profile] fingersandteeth 2020-06-04 03:15 am (UTC)(link)
Honestly, I wouldn't be surprised.

[It's funny. If he and Jack hadn't hit it off so well, that might have been him at Lavender Tower. He'd been thinking a little about whether or not he might want to request to work in a town surrounded by ghosts--but he hadn't wanted to have to take a magnet train whenever he wanted to get laid and that was enough to shelve that idea.]

If you can't get down any other way, though, just let me know. I've got a good relationship with my bosses. I'm sure they can talk to the other Tower administrators in a way that won't get you arrested.
carbonatedscientist: (Wary)

[personal profile] carbonatedscientist 2020-06-06 08:50 pm (UTC)(link)
Thank you, I'll keep that in mind.

Has anyone in your area noticed any sort of disruption coming from Lavender Town's tower?

And did anyone send a Fearow? There is a Fearow over here now. I do not think it looks especially happy with us, though I would imagine some annoyance with the rescue would be to be expected.
fingersandteeth: (Default)

[personal profile] fingersandteeth 2020-06-06 09:09 pm (UTC)(link)
None of them have said anything yet.

And-- I don't think anyone's sent a Fearow from here. That I know of. It would take some hours to fly to Lavender at any rate.
carbonatedscientist: (Did I leave the oven on)

[personal profile] carbonatedscientist 2020-06-07 01:19 am (UTC)(link)
That explains it, I believe it may be a wild Fearow.

It is rather irritated.

It may be worth calling someone over here, actually; I do not think my Magnemite can keep me and it safely anchored to the tower while fighting the Fearow off.

Town

[personal profile] worthallthis 2020-06-03 03:45 am (UTC)(link)
The Soldier considers the pair with the oh-so-worldly knowledge of someone who's been here a few weeks rather than a few days. He considers the situation a moment, feeling kind of bad for the poor Scorbunny. At least he pays attention to his Absol and Starly... and sometimes Fuzzlebutt, the slightly-demonic Skitty. Sometimes.

The Absol looks up at him, and he nods, and she pounces the Ghastly while it's distracted by mocking Sento and Tank, tossing a Future Sight at it and a swipe to follow up. Take that, you trickster!
carbonatedscientist: (did you just)

[personal profile] carbonatedscientist 2020-06-04 02:12 am (UTC)(link)
Sento, for his part, still has no idea that other Pokemon is even there, and he reflexively grabs his Scorbunny and rolls away from the attack with the practiced air of someone who has had to do such things far too often in his life. "Did we accidentally make eye contact? Is this one of those 'our eyes met and now we have to fight' things?" There's an exasperated sigh. "Are you going to go on about shorts being comfy and easy to wear?"

Tank wriggles his way out of Sento's arms and bounds forward to help with that Gastly, thank you very much. He just shoots an Ember at the Gastly, because he's still young and that's about the only move he's got that'll scratch a Ghost-type.
worthallthis: (told you so)

[personal profile] worthallthis 2020-06-04 03:46 am (UTC)(link)
Does it look like the Winter Soldier is wearing shorts, to you? He's got combat pants with lots of pockets, heavy boots, and a jacket over his tactical vest, and he looks... not comfortable. He does look ready to fight, but he's clearly not being aggressive. The look he gives Sento, in fact, is unimpressed, and he points firmly at the gastly the two pokemon are now chasing around between them.

Apparently he's not going to say anything (yet, anyway), or fight.
carbonatedscientist: (talking)

[personal profile] carbonatedscientist 2020-06-07 01:09 am (UTC)(link)
Look, Sento has had some thoroughly bizarre exchanges with other Trainers who were native to this world not long ago, and so for the time being all future encounters must be sarcastically measured against that utterly ridiculous yardstick, in Sento's mind. But Sento follows that point. "Ah. Well. I suppose that explains a lot." He takes the appearance of the gaseous creature in stride. "Tank, don't just drive it away, try to knock it out so I can catch it--I want to study it if possible."
worthallthis: (lookback-sarge)

[personal profile] worthallthis 2020-06-07 04:51 am (UTC)(link)
Between the Absol and the Scorbunny, it's not a difficult fight. The Soldier steps back and lets Sento take the catch, if that's what he wants. He and Entrapta have no need for tricksy ghost type that they can't even safely touch.

"Should listen to your pokemon," Soldier suggests once it's done. "They're as smart as any person." Well, most of them.

Cassandra isn't quite sure how to respond to all of this, given how skeptical the man seems about ghosts in general (Cassandra isn't quite sure what she thinks of ghosts in general either, but Ghost Pokemon are real enough, and the people who live here certainly know better than she does about things). Still, she feels she has to say something in defense of the man's Pokemon. "There's another Pokemon that keeps appearing and disappearing. I think it thinks it's funny that you're not noticing it and your Pokemon is."

Beside her, two of Cassandra's Pokemon have also been watching the goings-on. The Type: Null (which is oddly sparkly) seems wary, while the Skitty only seems to have a passing interest in the proceedings; then again, she is only a (S)kitten, if an oddly unnerving one.
carbonatedscientist: (what's that up there)

[personal profile] carbonatedscientist 2020-06-04 03:32 am (UTC)(link)
The Gastly absolutely thinks it's funny, and it appears again only to vanish once more Sento whips around to look at it. "...really." Sento still seems rather exasperated with everything. "We're sure it's that and not mass hallucinations brought on by this infernal music?"

The Scorbunny starts to chatter something to the other Pokemon, stops upon getting a better read on that Skitty, and directs the chattering to the Type: Null. Bro, please tell him you have an attack that can hit Ghosts, because right now, he sure doesn't, except for Ember, and setting everything on fire doesn't seem like a great idea right now.
fearinahandfulof: (Counterattack)

[personal profile] fearinahandfulof 2020-06-04 03:38 am (UTC)(link)
Blade does in fact have an attack that can hit the Gastly, and obligingly fires an Aerial Ace at it... but not before Misty Malarkey the Skitty whacks it with Foresight.

Cassandra, for her part, suppresses a sigh. This man is probably going to have a difficult time here, she thinks. "Yes," she answers as Blade's attack hits the Gastly straight-on.
carbonatedscientist: (Did I leave the oven on)

[personal profile] carbonatedscientist 2020-06-07 01:09 am (UTC)(link)
Oh, he's had a difficult time here. He whips around at the attacks from the other two Pokemon, which have forced the Gastly into view. "Ah! There it is!" Because of course he knew that was there, shhhhh.

Tank rolls his eyes and cheers the other Pokemon on.
fearinahandfulof: (Watchful)

[personal profile] fearinahandfulof 2020-06-09 01:10 am (UTC)(link)
Cassandra raises an eyebrow at the man's sudden about-face, but otherwise doesn't comment, aside from a sidelong glance at Tank. It's probably pointless to argue with him anyway.

Blade and Misty Malarkey, meanwhile, concentrate on subduing the Gastly. Cassandra wonders if it would be better if she called them off; surely the Gastly wouldn't find its game as fun now that it knows the man knows it's there?
