ALSO, AS PROMPTS FOR YOUR CONSIDERATION, and in the spirit of Halloween: August's GHOST TRICK event!
O-Bon festival: The streets are lined with NPC-run stalls for food, games, and the assorted tchotchkes of every summer festival you’ve ever seen in your animes! There’s Goldeen Scoop, heaping cones of Swirlix Candy, Test Your STRENGTH (there are two different machines for people and Pokémon; HM04 not required); basically, if you can think of it, it’s there. There will also be a yukata rental stall if you want to go full hog on the cultural side of things. Ecruteak boasts a small stage where the Kimono Girls give a short performance once every two hours; the festivities in Lavender Town are a little quieter, but they also have Haunter-shaped ice cream treats. When you lick them, they Lick you!
On the last evening of the festival in either location, there will be a large bonfire and traditional bon-odori dance in which everyone is welcome to participate. In Lavender Town only, they also set paper lamps afloat in the water past the cliffs.
Who you gonna call?: Remember “The Ghost of Maiden’s Peak”? Well, some of the local Gastly, Duskull, and Yamask seem to have gotten it into their heads that this kind of tomfoolery is somehow good medicine. If your trainer had someone in their life, someone now dead, that they have unresolved business with, these ghosties may take it upon themselves to play a little dress-up and follow your trainer around in the guise of said dead person until the issue is resolved. It’s their way of saying thank you for all the spiritual appeasement of the festival.
These ghosts won’t speak; Pokémon don’t talk, after all. So yes, your trainer is going to be followed around by some silent echo of their past who will not leave them alone.
Or, of course, write your own!

And then she hears the clapping.
Thida turns, an Inkay floating quietly beside her, as the stranger says his piece. She tilts her head as well, frowning, confused.]
No. 'S my best.
[The way she says that so matter-of-factly is almost asking to be challenged.]
no subject
...Yes. Yes, he should.]
Really now? Your absolute best?
[That's absolutely a challenging tone. It's no fun if she's easygoing about it, but maybe if he can rile her up a little...]
Well. I guess some people enjoy mediocrity, so hey, good for you.

'M not strong...
[She turns around to face him again, looking the man dead in the eye, and grins as she tosses the candy over her shoulder.
DING
Holy crap it hit the bell.]
'M an aimer.
[Top that, mister.]
no subject
Now that gets an eyebrow raise, as Felix watches the candy fall after hitting the bell. For a second he looks at it, before looking back at the girl. Isn't that something?]
Not... bad.
[His tone isn't begrudging, but actually impressed. A very controlled level of impressed, actually.
He reaches down to the ground, picking up a pebble, tossing it up a few times... before tossing it over at her, so she can catch it. A small test of her reflexes, maybe a slight challenge. It's hard to say.]
Especially for a squirt like you.
no subject
Thanks! [And, because now she's curious, she'll lightly toss the pebble back to him.] Practiced!
no subject
And what do you usually practice with?
[And tossing it back. At a different angle this time, 'cause why not.]
Because I'm going to take a wild guess and say you don't usually practice by throwing stuff at carnival games. Or hey, maybe you do, what do I know. Everyone needs a hobby.
no subject
Ink.
[Mostly with guns and large brushes, but ink all the same. She tosses the pebble back a little higher, also at a different angle.]
'S a sport.
no subject
He'd throw it back, but... he pauses at that, tilting his head.]
...Ink.
[He thinks about that for a second.]
...Okay, no, you're gonna have to tell me exactly what the hell that means, because I'm coming up blank here. What kind of a sport uses ink?
no subject
[Thida that explains nothing.]
'S a sport for Inklings. We make ink. So...cover turf with ink, 'n whoever covers most, wins.
