ALSO, AS PROMPTS FOR YOUR CONSIDERATION, and in the spirit of Halloween: August's GHOST TRICK event!

O-Bon festival: The streets are lined with NPC-run stalls for food, games, and the assorted tchotchkes of every summer festival you’ve ever seen in your animes! There’s Goldeen Scoop, heaping cones of Swirlix Candy, Test Your STRENGTH (there are two different machines for people and Pokémon; HM04 not required); basically, if you can think of it, it’s there. There will also be a yukata rental stall if you want to go full hog on the cultural side of things. Ecruteak boasts a small stage where the Kimono Girls give a short performance once every two hours; the festivities in Lavender Town are a little quieter, but they also have Haunter-shaped ice cream treats. When you lick them, they Lick you!

On the last evening of the festival in either location, there will be a large bonfire and traditional bon-odori dance in which everyone is welcome to participate. In Lavender Town only, they also set paper lamps afloat in the water past the cliffs.

Who you gonna call?: Remember “The Ghost of Maiden’s Peak”? Well, some of the local Gastly, Duskull, and Yamask seem to have gotten it into their heads that this kind of tomfoolery is somehow good medicine. If your trainer had someone in their life, someone now dead, that they have unresolved business with, these ghosties may take it upon themselves to play a little dress-up and follow your trainer around in the guise of said dead person until the issue is resolved. It’s their way of saying thank you for all the spiritual appeasement of the festival.

These ghosts won’t speak; Pokémon don’t talk, after all. So yes, your trainer is going to be followed around by some silent echo of their past who will not leave them alone.

Or, of course, write your own!

[action!]

[The first thing that catches Anders' eye is the cloak; he hasn't seen much like it since arriving. His wonder changes to concern, however, when he realizes the stranger is being chased by a Pokemon large enough to do considerable damage to a person, though its actions hardly seem predatory.

Nonetheless, he and his Pokemon follow the pair in a hurry, and he places himself calmly just between the two before any contact can be made. The Skitty on his shoulder seems unaffected, sensing no hostility from the Golett, while an Espurr at his feet stares in curiosity at the peculiar human.]

What's going on here? Are you all right?

Upon seeing him get between them, the clothed figure's eyes widened. "No no no! Do not!" They didn't want him to get hurt!

But the Golett just looks between them. It points to an item in the person's hand; a pokeball. It's pokeball. Upon not being hurt, the newcomer relaxed a little. But they were still very confused.

"It is not a Guardian? Or...is it not attacking because I am not Rythulian?" They looked down at themselves, concerned, and then to Anders. "What are we?"
purramedic: http://saa-pandaleon.tumblr.com/faq (kinda suspicious)

[personal profile] purramedic 2016-10-21 08:07 pm (UTC)(link)
[He raises no hand to either of them, though places one on his hip as he addresses the stranger. Anders has never heard of a Rythulian, but he does know of similar instances of other species being brought here. This person must be new, and awfully scared.]

You are a human now, regardless of the form you had in your home world. As for this creature...

[As he pulls out his Gear to scan the creature, the one on his shoulder yawns. More of this nonsense.]

It says here it was created by an ancient civilization in order to protect it. So I suppose it is a guardian of sorts, though judging by the look of things, it has no reason to attack you.

An ancient civilization in order to protect it. Those were the wrong words to say as they drew back again, still fearful. But they looked down at themselves.

"Human...I have never been born like this. Or so far from the Mountain." They looked up and around. There was so much green. They had mostly known yellow, pink and golden sands, the dark blue of a forgotten world and the white...the blinding white. They looked back up at their companion.

"Are you sure that it will not hurt us? Guardians are not friendly to Rythulians, or to any that carry life." The Golett remained docile, simply watching.

[He isn't sure what he said to frighten them, but he certainly feels bad about it. Still, he gives the Golett a scrutinizing look just to confirm that it isn't going to try anything.]

I'm fairly certain. That ball you're holding -- you can use it to recall the Golett. If I'm not mistaken, it is loyal to you. Everyone receives a friendly creature upon their arrival here. Pinsy here was mine. [He gives a nod to the Skitty, who barely bats an ear at being addressed.]
wayward_wanderer: (Hm)

[personal profile] wayward_wanderer 2016-10-22 11:04 am (UTC)(link)
The ball. They had dropped it when looking at the things they had received from the...'Mom'. How could such a big creature have come from it?

But at the mention of the skitty, they gasped! Their eyed widened in awe and fascination as they moved a little closer. "A Pinsy...! Are there more of them? Of human?" Three beings together! They had heard rumours of travelers forming groups of three but more was unheard of from their home. But...so was grass. And buildings. And no Mountain.

"What is your call?" She asked them both that. Rythulian was the name of their kind, but they knew each other by their gylphs and call - serving as their name, to humans.
purramedic: (silly smile)

[personal profile] purramedic 2016-10-22 11:38 am (UTC)(link)
[He gives a quiet laugh, not at their expense, of course, as he scratches under the cat's chin. The creature herself deigns to actually look up at the stranger.]

Ah... Her name is Pinsy. She is a "Skitty." I haven't seen another one myself, but they're out there, and so are many more humans.

I'm called Anders. And yourself?
wayward_wanderer: (Hm)

(the vid is from very early in the game!)

[personal profile] wayward_wanderer 2016-10-22 03:20 pm (UTC)(link)
"Anders...I am-" They pressed their hands to their chest, breathing in deeply and revealing a white gylph on the fabric beneath the poncho-like garment they wore. They crouched for a moment before standing up straight, giving a loud call, almost like a bird.

They smiled and looked a little closer at Pinsy. "There are more...many, many more? Is it because there is grass and birds, that there are so many?"
purramedic: (disgustening)

[personal profile] purramedic 2016-10-22 07:13 pm (UTC)(link)
[Pinsy bats enthusiastically at the fluttering fabric in spite of not nearly being able to reach it, though she retreats and lashes her tail at the display of their call. Anders himself is rather taken aback, too.]

I... am afraid I don't know how to pronounce that. [He feels like a bit of an asshole. Just a little bit.]

I think they just live here... The birds are Pokemon, too. But I'm sure some of them eat the grass, and perhaps each other.

Are there not many animals where you came from?
wayward_wanderer: (Hm)

[personal profile] wayward_wanderer 2016-10-22 07:32 pm (UTC)(link)
"Oh. I do not know how to say it in this language." They admitted, feeling sheepish. But at the mention of there being so many animals, and the question of their home, they smiled a little sadly.

"No. There were once. But before my time, they vanished...my home is a desert, with no birds, or grass, or Pokemon, or Human. Only few Rythulian, the Guardians and Cloth Creatures. Everything else is gone."

They slowly reached up, towards Pinsy. May they pet you, Pinsy Skitty?

I may be the exception, of course... Please forgive me for being rude.

[It sounds like a dreary place. This person may be one of those who's better off here than at home, something Anders still can't fathom.

The Skitty tilts her head in suspicion, then decides on turning her head away with disregard. You may touch her, Human Not-Human.]

I'm sure it will take some time getting used to this place, but you can. Many have. And don't forget you have a friend of your own to help you along.
wayward_wanderer: (Hm)

[personal profile] wayward_wanderer 2016-10-22 08:28 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, but the desert was beautiful. Sad and desolite, but full of wonder and history, secrets and the possibility of a friend. They very gently touched the Skitty, as if she might tear under their fingertips.

"You're so soft..." they murmured, turning to Anders with a smile. "Yes! I always welcome companions! You may call me...hm." They didn't actually know what 'human names' were like, or might to be like. "I only know Rythulian names and gylphs."
purramedic: (kinda sweet)

[personal profile] purramedic 2016-10-23 03:35 am (UTC)(link)
[Pinsy may give a small mewl, if only because the Rythulian feels very out of place and she feels a bit sorry for them.

Meanwhile, Anders gives a somewhat guilty smile; it wasn't quite what he meant by that, but he doesn't disagree.]

I would be happy to call you friend. Though, perhaps you could think on a name for your Pokemon? It may make you feel better about their company.
wayward_wanderer: boo (Spooky)

[personal profile] wayward_wanderer 2016-10-23 11:10 am (UTC)(link)
"Friend. I like that name." They paused at the mention of their Pokemon, looking at the Golett again. They very, very slowly approached them.

"They are just like the Guardians but smaller. Not as long." When the Golett reached out to offer a hand to their trainer, the Rythulian drew back again.

Many of these creatures seem similar to some in our respective worlds... But to my knowledge, it isn't likely for them to turn on their trainer.

[The Espurr at his feet waddles over to the strange Pokemon to "say hello," so to speak, and give a little wave. Maybe if the Rythulian sees Golett having a positive interaction, they'll be more comfortable with it! He's helping!]
