O-Bon festival: The streets are lined with NPC-run stalls for food, games, and the assorted tchotchkes of every summer festival you’ve ever seen in your animes! There’s Goldeen Scoop, heaping cones of Swirlix Candy, Test Your STRENGTH (there are two different machines for people and Pokémon; HM04 not required); basically, if you can think of it, it’s there. There will also be a yukata rental stall if you want to go full hog on the cultural side of things. Ecruteak boasts a small stage where the Kimono Girls give a short performance once every two hours; the festivities in Lavender Town are a little quieter, but they also have Haunter-shaped ice cream treats. When you lick them, they Lick you!

On the last evening of the festival in either location, there will be a large bonfire and traditional bon-odori dance in which everyone is welcome to participate. In Lavender Town only, they also set paper lamps afloat in the water past the cliffs.

Who you gonna call?: Remember “The Ghost of Maiden’s Peak”? Well, some of the local Gastly, Duskull, and Yamask seem to have gotten it into their heads that this kind of tomfoolery is somehow good medicine. If your trainer had someone in their life, someone now dead, that they have unresolved business with, these ghosties may take it upon themselves to play a little dress-up and follow your trainer around in the guise of said dead person until the issue is resolved. It’s their way of saying thank you for all the spiritual appeasement of the festival.

These ghosts won’t speak; Pokémon don’t talk, after all. So yes, your trainer is going to be followed around by some silent echo of their past who will not leave them alone.

He moves to stand up, wishing now more than ever he had his staff at least to walk with. He's starting to get too old for this.]

I know. There are not many things any of us can do entirely on our own. But...powerful things have occurred that I never thought were possible. If those could come to pass, surely this much can as well.

...I have seen many impossible things as well. And they say that we can return home. But it happens in its own time, regardless of anything we may do.

They do say that when we return, it will be as if we never left. Time will not flow without us.

[Moses' brow creases a bit at Asgore's words, his gaze turning toward the hill they're standing on.]

Those who have been here longest. I arrived only a few months past, but some have spent years here.

[That's...oh no.]

That is what they tell me. But it seems very uncommon...and as I said, they say it will be as if no time has passed when we return.

[His tone, however, betrays how much he...really doesn't.]

I'm sorry, all of this has just been very...confusing. And overwhelming. It is not that I don't believe you, it is just...hard to believe.

No, no, I understand completely. I felt much the same when I first came, and I am used to a world with magic in it.

[He's not sure if you are, but it seems like humans in general aren't used to it.]

There are people where I am from who have forms of magic they claim to use, but it is all trickery. I would be lying if I said I hadn't seen things I couldn't explain, though.

My people all have our own magic, native to us as our bodies. But I can no longer use mine here...it's this form, I imagine. Some of us here were not originally humans, so this world changes us to suit it.

Form...so you've taken on a new form, too..

Was it hard to grow accustomed to, then?

[He chuckles a little, though it's not a very amused sound.]

Many others have it much worse. My body was...similarly shaped, and I am much more familiar with humans than many of my people.

[He considers his hand thoughtfully.]

I see. I am glad, at least, that you have your family here with you. ...I have not been able to find my own.

It's alright. Wherever they are, I'm sure they're doing okay. They handled themselves for a long time before I ever started being there for them.

For now, I just have to figure out what my purpose here is supposed to be.
