O-Bon festival: The streets are lined with NPC-run stalls for food, games, and the assorted tchotchkes of every summer festival you’ve ever seen in your animes! There’s Goldeen Scoop, heaping cones of Swirlix Candy, Test Your STRENGTH (there are two different machines for people and Pokémon; HM04 not required); basically, if you can think of it, it’s there. There will also be a yukata rental stall if you want to go full hog on the cultural side of things. Ecruteak boasts a small stage where the Kimono Girls give a short performance once every two hours; the festivities in Lavender Town are a little quieter, but they also have Haunter-shaped ice cream treats. When you lick them, they Lick you!

On the last evening of the festival in either location, there will be a large bonfire and traditional bon-odori dance in which everyone is welcome to participate. In Lavender Town only, they also set paper lamps afloat in the water past the cliffs.

Who you gonna call?: Remember “The Ghost of Maiden’s Peak”? Well, some of the local Gastly, Duskull, and Yamask seem to have gotten it into their heads that this kind of tomfoolery is somehow good medicine. If your trainer had someone in their life, someone now dead, that they have unresolved business with, these ghosties may take it upon themselves to play a little dress-up and follow your trainer around in the guise of said dead person until the issue is resolved. It’s their way of saying thank you for all the spiritual appeasement of the festival.

These ghosts won’t speak; Pokémon don’t talk, after all. So yes, your trainer is going to be followed around by some silent echo of their past who will not leave them alone.

Hello.

[Moses gives a small wave in return before shushing his Mareep, gesturing for her to come back his way. She bounds over, but keeps her attention on Asriel's Floette. Moses can tell that the boy is unsure, so he stays seated by the tree.]

Sorry to bother you, but...is this where you live?

[The Floette follows, giving Moses a bright smile before floating back down to the Mareep to introduce herself. Seeing his Pokemon so at east puts him more at ease, though he still looks a little tense as he approaches.]

Um, I'm been staying here with my Dad 'n Frisk for a while now, so...I guess I do. Why?

[princeofegypt]

Well, I'm not from here, you see. I've been trying to find my way back to something more...familiar.

[He sighs the last word as his hand flexes next to his side, then his gaze turns up toward the tree he's seated beneath. Maybe he should just craft himself another staff. It of course won't be like his own, but at least he won't have to struggle walking for such long distances anymore.

He's so tired, Asriel.]

Oh. [Asriel looks down, toeing the dirt a little.] I'm not from here either. Everything's really different. But, I'm glad it is, because I wouldn't get to see and do everything if I was home.

[No surface. No family. No body with arms and legs.]

...Are you okay, mister?

[There have been quite a few people Moses has met who have been saying similar things. This isn't their home, but they've made do.

He smiles gently, leaning back against the tree trunk again.]

I'm alright. Just a little tired from traveling.

D'you wanna go to the Pokemon Center? The nurses there are real nice, they'll let you spend the night for as long as you need to.

Well...

[He was planning on just continuing to walk once he'd rested for an hour or so, but his Mareep doesn't seem to like that idea. Not because she wouldn't go with him, but because she doesn't want him to walk until he actually collapses. Maybe if he spent the night at an inn...or Center, he supposes, he'll be able to talk to more people and get more information.]

I guess it wouldn't hurt to spend one night.

Yeah, it won't hurt. It'll help a lot.

[He knows what you mean, he just. Wants to make sure you feel safe, mister robe man.]

[Aw...you're a good kid, Asriel.]

Moses. It's nice to meet you.

[His Mareep bleats in greeting not soon after as Moses moves to stand up from the grass, his robes falling down around his ankles when he does.]

[The Floette chirps back happily. New friends, yay!]

Well then, Asriel. I will let you lead the way. You seem to know this area better than I.

[He nods, smiling.]

Yeah, we've been stayin' here a while! It's really nice.

[princeofegypt]

It seems...pretty big.

[Not as big as the very palace he'd once lived in, but hey.]

Are you here with your family?

[better2do]

[He nods.] Sorta. Just my Dad 'n Frisk. But, my Mom wouldn't wanna be around my Dad if she were here...she's kinda mad at him.

[Ahahahah. "Kinda". That's a very gentle way of putting it.]

[Oh dear...he's not going to ask.]

It's good you aren't alone here, then. I haven't been able to find anyone I know.

They might be here. You can put messages on the special Poke'gear you get when you start, and people respond to them - someone you know might see it! That's how Frisk found me.

[Poke'gear...he feels his Mareep nudge at the bag hanging from his shoulder, enough to prompt him to reach in and pull out his own 'Gear that he still hasn't been able to figure out yet.]

Is this what you mean?

Yeah, that's it. You should've gotten a book that tells you how it works, too. That's how I figured mine out.

[Moses nods, knowing that book is in his bag somewhere.]

I haven't really taken much time to look it over. I've been traveling since I got here.

[better2do]

Really? When did you get here?

It's been...about a month now, I would say.
