ALSO, AS PROMPTS FOR YOUR CONSIDERATION, and in the spirit of Halloween: August's GHOST TRICK event!

O-Bon festival: The streets are lined with NPC-run stalls for food, games, and the assorted tchotchkes of every summer festival you’ve ever seen in your animes! There’s Goldeen Scoop, heaping cones of Swirlix Candy, Test Your STRENGTH (there are two different machines for people and Pokémon; HM04 not required); basically, if you can think of it, it’s there. There will also be a yukata rental stall if you want to go full hog on the cultural side of things. Ecruteak boasts a small stage where the Kimono Girls give a short performance once every two hours; the festivities in Lavender Town are a little quieter, but they also have Haunter-shaped ice cream treats. When you lick them, they Lick you!

On the last evening of the festival in either location, there will be a large bonfire and traditional bon-odori dance in which everyone is welcome to participate. In Lavender Town only, they also set paper lamps afloat in the water past the cliffs.

Who you gonna call?: Remember “The Ghost of Maiden’s Peak”? Well, some of the local Gastly, Duskull, and Yamask seem to have gotten it into their heads that this kind of tomfoolery is somehow good medicine. If your trainer had someone in their life, someone now dead, that they have unresolved business with, these ghosties may take it upon themselves to play a little dress-up and follow your trainer around in the guise of said dead person until the issue is resolved. It’s their way of saying thank you for all the spiritual appeasement of the festival.

These ghosts won’t speak; Pokémon don’t talk, after all. So yes, your trainer is going to be followed around by some silent echo of their past who will not leave them alone.

Or, of course, write your own!

((ooc: spoilers for the series finale!))

o-bon;

[The festival was beautiful, but it wasn't the Spirit World- that much was obvious. She would have thought that, somehow, she was back home if there weren't a subtle alien vibe that reminded Asami that she was, in fact, a stranger in a strange land. The food, at least, was familiar, as was the festival itself, but it didn't change that this wasn't where Asami was supposed to be. Or that she wasn't supposed to be alone.

Well, technically she wasn't. The little fox had been trailing after her all evening, her attempts to send it on its way done in vain (there was an embarrassing moment when Asami had thought it could be a spirit and had spent almost five minutes trying to engage it in conversation). It didn't seem to want anything from her other than to be nearby, and eventually Asami gave up. She had more important things to worry about anyway.

She had tried finding Korra, stopping just about anyone who was willing to listen to ask, and all had given her the same answer: they hadn't seen Korra. The dawning realization that Asami might truly be alone here was beginning to sink in, and it was not a pleasant feeling.

The young woman sits herself down at a bench with a defeated sigh, some skewered meat she had caved in and purchased from a booth in hand. She was no use to herself hungry, after all. The odd fox looks up at her with large brown eyes- but she doesn't miss how it steals a glance at her food.]

I guess I should be excited that I'm somewhere new. [She scoops up the fox and places it next to her on the bench, offering it a bite.] I just wish Korra was here.

[She watches the animal take a few bites before returning her focus to the crowd. Spotting someone she hopes will be helpful, she reaches out a hand to catch their attention:]

Hey, I'm looking for someone. Do you think you could help me?

[Korra's used to her Arcanine taking off and bolting after whatever fascinating thing has caught his attention - other Pokemon, food, a bit of fluff floating on the breeze...]

[But he doesn't usually do it in crowded, public places. Which is good! He's a big tiger-dog! And when he gets excited, he doesn't always pay attention to where he's going or who he bumps into. Or knocks over. But suddenly, all bets are off, and Korra's leaping to her feet to chase after her runaway starter.]

Iqniq! What's wrong with you....uh, sorry, 'scuse me...

[Ducking and weaving through the crowds, Korra is about ready to start yelling all kinds of outrageous, baseless threats...]

[When she sees a very familiar profile. With Iqniq the Arcanine bounding right towards her, woofing and howling. Suddenly Korra forgets about her starter. Or much of anything else because Asami is standing over there, talking politely with some local. Not that lady that looks like her, but actually Asami. Korra's heart skips a beat and her face breaks into the widest grin she's grinned in months.]

[Within moments, the Arcanine isn't the only one racing towards Asami.]

[Korra is equally inarticulate.]
