[Honestly, it kind of did work. Crab research was very distracting. But... he probably would have reacted much the same, either way. Calling the little guy out just would have been a dick move!

He shrugs, still smiling, as John lifts Preacher up.] It's no problem. Finding ways to keep himself entertained, huh?

...Crabominable. Interesting. [There is no hiding the amusement in his voice. These animals sure are named like That, huh.]

[John shrugs, still smiling.] I know, right? Some of them have really complicated names, or names that seem pretty normal, and some of them are like that.

Anyway, yeah, Preacher is a prankster, aren't you, dude?

[The Quagsire sort of extends his body mass upwards somewhat, stretching up tall before he squorshes back down again, smiling blankly. John lifts up one of Preacher's hands so he can give him a high five before letting it go again.]

He is actually the reason I'm here...there are a lot of local Quagsire here and they seem to have a weird secret thing they share? Or maybe they're just pals. But it seemed like a good idea to take him here for a playdate.

[There's a pause, as John thinks about what he just said.]

I actually don't know if it's a play date, they mostly just seem to stand in the water and yell at each other but I think he enjoys it? We are taking a beach break.
