Well, I've certainly been gathering all the intel there is to gather. And there's honestly almost enough stuff to learn around here to keep me satisfied. But the truth is, there's a lot that just seems to be out of reach. No one knows how we get here, for instance - not even people who've been here for years. If there's a way to figure out how certain things work here, I haven't been able to find them yet. But I've only been here a couple months.

A couple months? How could that be, when I just saw you yesterday?

That's one of the weird things about this place - it plays with time. It pulls people here somehow, but it doesn't care from when it pulls them. Dimitri, Sylvain, Felix, and I all remember more or less the same things, but all from different points in time. Things that have already happened for me haven't happened for them yet, for example.

Also, apparently when we get pulled here, no time passes at home, so no one misses us while we're gone. Whenever we get sent back, it'll be like we never even left. I don't know how it works, but some people here have returned home and then come back here, and they say that's what it's like.

So you can see it's quite the tangled little mystery here.

Guess there's nothing for it but to just make the best with what we've got. For now, anyway.

Ah, I've genuinely missed that practical approach of yours. You know, I don't think I've had anyone around to pull me back down to earth properly when I've started getting lost in my own head? Or at least no one reasonable. Felix is...sort of grounded. Definitely focuses on the practicalities. But he's not open-minded like you, so the effect really isn't the same.

So, what do you think of the little creatures of this world? I like them a lot, personally. But their all being so intelligent and living in harmony with people means that there's no real hunting permitted here, so I wonder if you'll consider it worth the tradeoff.

He was a great sparring partner, back at the Academy. I wonder how much everyone's changed since then.

[She shrugs, somewhat helpless.] They're all just animals to me, so far. Really strange animals. But then again, I guess animals from Fodlan would seem strange to people from here, so maybe it's just something you get used to.

And anyway, I'm fond of this little guy right here [She tilts her screen to show her Meowth, currently catloafing next to her in the grass.], so I guess it could be a lot worse. I'll just have to learn to rely on Captain instead of lances.

He'll love that. He's mostly been pouring his love of training into pokémon instead of weapons. Although he and the others have been making wooden weapon replicas to spar with. I've checked with what amounts to the law in this land, though, and I'm not allowed to have anything even close to a real bow except on formal archery ranges...that's gonna go for you too, obviously. People aren't expected or even allowed to carry weapons around here. Fighting is either done hand-to-hand, or through pokémon.

Anyway, you'll find out they're really different from animals back home the more you interact with them. They understand human speech, for instance, even if they don't talk back. I had mounts back home, you know that, but these guys - when you can communicate with them, and they're actively looking out for you, they feel more like full partners than any horse or wyvern back home could.

[He laughs at the sight of the Meowth.] Aww, he's a cute little guy! Felix will like him - I swear that guy's on a quest to collect every cat-shaped pokémon he can find.

They grow on you quickly, that's for sure. I just woke up here this morning and he's already earned himself a name. Sounds like there's room for some kind of competition, so I'm sure my skills won't grow too dull, and I can pick up some new ones while I'm at it.

Shame about the bows, though. Be those archery clubs cost a hefty sum to join.

Maybe, maybe not. I haven't checked them out yet, so I can't speak for any kind of entry fee.

That said, it's not too hard to make money here. Not that I really had to worry about that sort of thing back home, but I don't have the advantage of any noble coffers to dip into here, so I've been taking odd jobs.
