[Lysithea is certainly straightforward, seeming not at all bothered by his presence. Not that many in this land have seemed to be thus far, but Lysithea is from Fodlan and should know better. Nonetheless, he piles a plate up for her and offers it over, as promised.]

I arrived a short time ago. Though perhaps it would be best if you went on ahead of me.

Really? Perhaps it was not too long before my own arrival. I had tried to see if I could find anyone else before setting out, but ultimately I hadn't had much luck.

[ Now that... was an unexpected suggestion. Lysithea frowns in confusion. ]

Why would it be 'best'? Would it not be safer to go together?

I left immediately. Perhaps that is why I did not see you.

[Dedue nods in understanding; it's best not to venture alone into the wilderness, after all, but he personally would walk across the entire earth were Dimitri on the other side.]

I doubt Felix and Sylvain will be happy to see me here. You would do well not to associate yourself with me in their minds.

[personal profile] deathknightdestroyer 2021-01-18 09:31 pm (UTC)(link)
And why would their opinion of me dictate what I do? I enjoy speaking with them but if they're willing to be so arbitrary in the lines they draw in the sand, then that is their problem.

[Somehow, the vehemence of Lysithea's reaction leaves little concern left over the matter.]

I see. I supposed a word of warning was appropriate. I apologize.

[personal profile] deathknightdestroyer 2021-01-18 09:55 pm (UTC)(link)
There's nothing to apologize for. However much I don't understand, you were trying to help in your own way. But I would rather you not try to make decisions for me.

[ And with nothing more than a mildly offended huff, Lysithea calms down. ]

I am glad to see you in good health. This realm is interesting- according to the others I've been able to contact, our magic and the Crests don't work here. What companion were you gifted with?

[Dedue may be huge and intimidating, but Lysithea is easily the scarier one here. He will need to watch himself, lest he get jabbed again.

... He likes her already.]

Oh? I was not aware of that... [It could be a good or bad thing, depending on the person, and how liable they are to get into trouble...

But fretting right now will do no good, so he leans over and encourages a little green sprout to teeter over.]

Come here, little one. [He looks back up to Lysithea as the creature twirls around on one stubby foot.] I believe it is called Budew. What of yours?
deathknightdestroyer: (if a guy calls you "princess" in a)

[personal profile] deathknightdestroyer 2021-01-18 10:54 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh... how wonderful!

[ She watches the little creature in awe. It's so unlike anything from back home. At his question, Lysithea opens her backpack, and lets her milcery float out- it had wanted to ride in the bag, and given how light it was, Lysithea saw no reason to object. ]

It's called a Milcery. It's said that they bring good fortune to sweets shops should they visit one, and it is able to cast it's own form of magic.

Those devices we received- the "Gears"?- can provide information on the creatures of this world.

[personal profile] dedueordie 2021-01-18 11:05 pm (UTC)(link)
[So, there is magic here, only not in humans. Dedue isn't missing much, not like his companions must, but he must admit it is peculiar.]

Do you intend to test that? [It's a funny thing to bring up, otherwise.]

I had only looked over it quickly. I was more concerned about navigation. I will look more closely soon.

[For its part, Budew doesn't seem to mind; Dedue is plenty kind to it, and it has a new friend to play with! It bounches a couple of inches off the ground, trying and failing to reach as high as Milcery.]
deathknightdestroyer: (Default)

[personal profile] deathknightdestroyer 2021-01-18 11:17 pm (UTC)(link)
Perhaps I do.

[ Still, she's smiling about it- it's not a teasing comment but a genuine question, after all. As they talk, Lysithea gently ushers her milcery down closer, so it can properly play with Budew. Milcery, for her part, is chirping cheerfully, waving it's flappy little arms in glee! A new friend is always nice, but one she didn't have to fight to say hi to as well? Wonderful! ]

I understand. Especially with Claude and Dimitri so far away... But I've found an aspect referred to as a PokéDex which has proven helpful. It's the function I just mentioned- though it works best with the Pokémon we already care for, it can also share some information about the ones we encounter in the wild to assist with strategy. Each one has an elemental affinity, you see, and with that affinity comes their own unique strengths and weaknesses.

[Budew is apparently mystified by how wiggly Milcery is. It's losing its little mind, crying happily and dancing back and forth on its little leggies.]

Similar to magic, then. [He eyes Budew as it twirls. He would hate to make the mistake of getting into a battle the small creature had no hope of winning; and that is assuming he'd have the heart to send the little flower bud in rather than defend himself.] If it is that important, I will learn. Thank you for telling me.

[ Watching the creatures play, Lysithea can't help but grin. This place was truly wonderful in it's own way. Milcery is delighted at Budew's dancing, twirling around to watch from all sides before spinning about herself. ]

Yes, in it's own way.

[ But Goddess above, she wishes she could cast for herself again. ]

You're welcome. I'm sure the others will have more advice for us once we reunite with them... have you been able to contact anyone?

[It does seem quite peaceful, from what Dedue has seen. And, truth be told, he is in no hurry to get back to Fodlan, if Dimitri is already here.]

Undoubtedly. They appeared quite settled in already when I spoke with them.

Have you met with any others from the Alliance? [And maybe his face grows a little darker.] Or heard tell of the Empire?
deathknightdestroyer: (Default)

[personal profile] deathknightdestroyer 2021-01-19 12:55 am (UTC)(link)
I've caught sight of Leonie, but she went her separate way so she could gather resources.

Thankfully, I've not seen anyone from the Empire, though Claude believes that even among them it is only Edelgard or Hubert we should truly worry about. As they are more aggressive, he believes the won't be reasoned with while the others can be persuaded. I'm not sure I agree, but I trust Claude with my life, and he clearly cares for Dimitri. I know he would sooner let himself get hurt than risk those he cares for, despite what he may claim.
dedueordie: (expressions)

[personal profile] dedueordie 2021-01-19 04:47 am (UTC)(link)
[That doesn't entirely comfort Dedue; he would trust Dimitri's judgment, for one, but on the whole, he's wary at best. Anyone could be a spy conspiring to hurt the King.]

"Clearly?" Why do you say that?
deathknightdestroyer: (Default)

[personal profile] deathknightdestroyer 2021-01-19 05:06 am (UTC)(link)
When I spoke to Claude last, he told me about Dimitri's healing process and advised me on how to not accidentally undo the progress he has made, and of the faith that Claude has in him.

[ There's certainly more to what Claude said, but she's not about to go gossiping. ]

Claude is many things, but he does not throw that sort of sentiment around blindly.

[On second thought... maybe Dedue won't ever be able to wrap his head around this. If it's genuine, at least.]

I see.

[... He's sort of stuck in his head now, and doesn't know what else to say presently. So... he's just going to eat.]
deathknightdestroyer: (if a guy calls you "princess" in a)

[personal profile] deathknightdestroyer 2021-01-24 11:49 pm (UTC)(link)
It's a bit strange, but I think that it will do them both some good.

[ Still, if it's food time, it's food time- and what a delight! ]

It's just like back at the monastery when you were on kitchen duty, before everything happened- no, even better! You've only improved over time.
dedueordie: (and i love him)

[personal profile] dedueordie 2021-01-29 08:26 pm (UTC)(link)
I hope you are right. [There's no reason for Lysithea to have less trust in Claude than Dedue has in Dimitri, but compared between the two, Dimitri is far more... open. His true feelings are easier to parse. But if they truly are helping one another, then he shouldn't complain.]

I am... glad you enjoy it. It is the result of any other talent -- hard work and perseverance.
deathknightdestroyer: (if a guy calls you "princess" in a)

[personal profile] deathknightdestroyer 2021-01-31 08:43 am (UTC)(link)
And it's truly paying off!

[ If anyone can understand the value of hard work, it's definitely her. ]

A good work ethic is something to admire, I think.
