[A fair question, he guesses. Not that Dedue can tell, necessarily, that Grant is asking because he knows Dimitri.]

[Oh, well, that sounds like a pretty good reason. Though, with only a stranger's word to go by, Grant isn't sure he should... answer outright where they are, yet? Man, this is complicated.]

Oh... huh! Alright, I can talk to him about meeting up with you somewhere... uh, who should I tell him is asking?

[So, the stranger does know Dimitri. Honestly, Dedue isn't so sure he should be relieved or worried that it's the case -- without being at his side, he can't protect Dimitri from knives in the back.]

[woofdad]

[And then, as he's standing up, Gear still in hand, he realizes that, hang on, he's heard that name before. Grant's expression brightens immediately.] Oh, you're Dedue! Oh, man, he's going to be thrilled, he's talked about you.

[Should he be surprised? Probably not; as far as they're concerned, Dimitri and Dedue are inseparable. But it's still jarring to hear that from a third party he hasn't even met before.]

What? Oh, no, you don't have to repay me for anything. I'm just glad you guys can meet back up.

--Oh, right, I'm Grant, by the way. I'm... traveling with Dimitri and some others.

[He'll just... leave it at that for now.]

Grant. It is good to meet you.

Good to meet you, too. And you really don't have to... [But Grant gets the impression this isn't something Dedue is going to give up that easily, so...

His face lights up again as he remembers something.] Actually, if you really want to do something - once we've met up, would you mind cooking for us all? Dimitri says you're really good, and I can't say I haven't been curious about the food where you're from.

[As if Dimitri isn't bound to want to show off Dedue's cooking, anyway, but listen.]

[Grant is absolutely right about that, but all in all, it does seem a fair trade.]

I would be honored. I will serve a Faerghus specialty. [The ingredients available here can't be all that different, right? At the very least, there's got to be eggs, flour, and sugar. Could a world exist without them?]

How many are there to feed? [He still isn't entirely sure, and it's best to be prepared. Even if he is nowhere near a market.]

Oh boy, uh... we got a few more recently. [He holds up fingers with his free hand as he thinks aloud.] Me, my kid Chip, Dimitri, Claude, Sylavin, Felix... Karako is kind of in and out... Oh, Ashe showed up recently, if I remember correctly you probably know him? Aaand then there's Jinx and Razor... they're sort of in and out, too.

So that would be... seven if the wandering kids are out, ten if they're all there, plus you. Oh, and Jane, the lady who's let us stay in her house for now.

...There have gotten to be a lot of us, wow. Sorry, I might've just signed you up for a lot of cooking.

[Dedue nods, chin in hands, finding it perfectly reasonable.]

It is quite alright. I have cooked for many more at Garreg Mach. And I trust there is a market nearby Jane's home? [Looking up in thought, he taps his chin once.] What sort of flavors do you and the children prefer? I'm already familiar with my allies' tastes.

[woofdad]

Oh, yeah! We're in apparently the biggest city around, so there are plenty of stores - and if Dimitri's reaction is anything to go by, they might be bigger than you're used to, actually.

And flavors, uuh...  Chip likes spicy stuff a lot, and Karako and Jinx seem to really like sweets? I'll eat most things, myself.

[dedueordie]

[A larger produce and meat market than he's yet seen? That is a surprisingly alluring concept to Dedue, if only because it sounds so... domestic.]

Perfect. I am already forming the menu in my mind. I look forward to visiting your market.

[Grant calls back a few minutes later, looking significantly more troubled than he had before and talking very quickly and anxiously.]

Hey, so, uh-- apparently, while everyone was busy keeping Dimitri from rushing out to meet you despite not knowing how to ride a flying animal, Chip did exactly that! So, if-- if you're approached by an eleven-year-old kid in a yellow coat, that'd be my kid, please make sure they don't break any bones on the way back, I am so sorry about all this--

[No, Dedue is not suddenly nervous at the idea of a child hanging off of him. Sure, the kid didn't seem intimidated over the 'Gear, but in person...

Ah, there's nothing else for it. He shakes his head firmly.]

There is no need to worry. I will look after them until we meet.

[woofdad]

Okay, great-- thank you. Sorry again, I know this is... a lot to be happening right after getting here.

It is fine. I must thank you again, for keeping His Highness safe. It wouldn't do if he was hurt trying to reach me.

Oh-- I can't take much credit for that. Claude and Felix were the ones who caught him, I just backed them up on it being a bad idea for him to rush out.

[Wild, now that he thinks about it, that the two smallest men here ended up being the ones to get Dimitri pinned.]

[dedueordie]

[Good. Now Dedue knows who the culprits are. Thank you, Grant, for supplying this... most interesting information.]

[There's a bit of silence on Dedue's end, before his eyes wander from the 'Gear.]

I am going to look for your child now.

[Hmm. Grant wonders a bit if he might've just accidentally thrown Claude and Felix under the bus a little? But he's pretty sure tackling Dimitri was better than the alternative, even if it wasn't ideal...
