[Oh, wonderful. The first familiar face he finds, and it's him. Diluc doesn't respond right way. He lifts his foot in an attempt to coax the bird off. Instead, it chirps and flutters up to his shoulder.

Barbatos, help him.]

Never one to take anything serious, are you?

[frostgnawed]

[There's a chuckle out of him thanks to the bird's further antics, and yet another at Diluc's chiding. Kaeya takes half a bow as if in humility, but there's a flourish that gives away his sarcasm. Not that Diluc wouldn't recognize it anyway.]

Forgive me for not taking a citizen's concerns so seriously. Would you like your cavalry captain to dispose of that dangerous pest for you, Master Ragnvindr?

[dilusional]

[Unsurprisingly, Kaeya's attempt at seriousness only sours Diluc's mood further. And though Diluc hates it, his hand does inch upward, as if he might protect the creature.

It's his to gripe about, not Kaeya's to bother, after all.]

I was, in fact, more concerned about being so far outside of Teyvat that no one has even heard of it. But by all means, focus on the bird.

[frostgnawed]

[He shrugs, possibly even more careless than Diluc finds him to be.]

Come, now, where's your sense of adventure? Despite what you may think, Teyvat will still be there without you to hold it up.

[Catch Kaeya's little fox opening one eye to peek oh-so-subtly at the bird on Diluc's shoulder.]

[dilusional]

I suppose this must be a relief for you. No need to pretend to look useful for the Order here.

[Diluc's eyes flicker toward the fox. They narrow at the creature, and remain that way when they find their way back to Kaeya.]

Mind your beast, Kaeya.

[frostgnawed]

And it must be your worst nightmare, having no real use.

[As biting as the words may be, Kaeya says them in that infuriatingly casual tone. Not taking it seriously, or purposefully trying to rile up Diluc?]

Oh, this sweet little thing? She wouldn't hurt a crystalfly.

[In her defense, Vulpix simply yawns and looks away. The Fletchling is hardly worth her effort.]

[That's enough to press Diluc's lips into a thin line. Behind them, his teeth grit, and his jaw clenches.]

I trust that about as much as I trust you, Ser Alberich.

[frostgnawed]

[Naturally, Kaeya knows Diluc well enough to see the strain in his jaw. Unfortunately, he doesn't think getting into a fistfight within hours upon arrival will promote a useful image for him here, so for now, he leaves it at that, and gives another cheerful laugh.]

I suppose it's true I've hardly given you any reason to trust me. But spare my innocent little fox your wrath; she's done nothing to you.

[dilusional]

[Diluc doesn't say anything at first. Kaeya has a point; the fox hasn't done anything. But nevertheless, he puts a hand up to the bird on his shoulder and pats its head. As long as the fox is around, he'll need to keep an eye on it.]

If she's anything like you, then it's only a matter of time.

[frostgnawed]

[As it stands, the Vulpix decides to try her luck, stretching and walking casually over to Diluc. Just let her rub along his nice, black pants and get white fur on them. It's fine!

Kaeya watches on with that saccharine smile.]

Look at that! She likes you, Diluc. How can you be so cruel to that precious face?

[dilusional]

[The creature is cute. The fur is not. And since he's potentially worlds away from his butler, his service staff, and his wardrobe, he's more than a little miffed by it.

... But it's not her fault, at least.]

And how am I being cruel in this moment, anyway?

[He bends down, petting her a few times even as he tries to gently nudge her away from his pants. He pauses to grimace, though, as the bird hops from his shoulder into the mess of his hair.]

[frostgnawed]

[Okay, smart guy, she may have rubbed on you, but she never gave you permission to touch her. She leaps back and blows a puff of Powder Snow directly into Diluc's face with a cry! It may or may not also hit the bird in his hair. Her control is good enough that it isn't even as harmful as a blast of Kaeya's cryo, but the mere sight of it has him laughing gleefully anyway.]

Oh, isn't she delightful? Takes after her parent!

[dilusional]

[It isn't as bad as it could have been -- there isn't a painful elemental reaction as a result of the attack. But Diluc has never been a fan of the cold. He reels back -- unseating the already distressed bird. He wipes at his face frantically, while the Fletchling flaps around his head with distressed cries.

When both are finally settled enough to see straight, they both seem to be seething. Funny how they look alike.]

Hilarious. [And with nothing else good to say, he starts to stalk off in the opposite direction.]
