[GEEZ, Arthur definitely sorta startles and jumps back at the sudden flash of light and Appearance of Thing when the Milcery pops out of her ball! This guy's a lil jumpy, huh? But, seeing that it's just a kind of floating...milk monster, he also calms down pretty quick.]

O-oh. Oh, wow, what the - [Peering at her.] - what the fuck is that? Is it a liquid?

[Meanwhile, his Dedenne chirps right back! Hello, totally normal fellow Pokemon!]

[ With how... nervous the man had seemed, Lysithea's almost surprised to hear him swear- though with her life on the battlefield, it seems a bit mild these days as well. Still, she can only... shrug, really. ]

Her body moves as liquid caught frozen while splashing, but she doesn't feel watery to the touch- unless it's an at-will situation. She's capable of performing physical actions as well... it's just. Very strange.

[ Milcery looks up at her trainer for a moment before looking back at Dedenne. Trainers sure are weird!! ]

[Eh, he's from modern days, it doesn't strike him as anything particularly unusual. Though to be fair, he probably wouldn't have said it if he weren't starting to feel a little more comfortable with Lysithea generally.]

Weird. I figured we'd all get different ones, but I didn't think they'd be, uh. That different. Like, mine's kinda just a normal animal? I kinda thought it was just 'cause I have a pet hamster at home.

[Which - he's gonna miss that little guy if he's stuck here for a while. But it's been maybe an hour so it doesn't really hit him hard right now.]

I read they're supposed to protect us, or something. Dunno how that works.

Of the ones I've observed so far, this one's been the strangest I've seen- and apparently she's the strangest my friends have seen as well, and they've been here for some time now.

How - how do they not even have a hotel in this town? If people are just...showing up here randomly all the time? [and okay maybe it's not the worst thing in the world to walk a little ways, but he's. He's just really tired, okay, he was expecting to just drive home and finally get some sleep and then that very much Didn't Happen, and now this.]

The last I contacted them, they said they were in "Goldenrod City", in the center of the region from what I can tell. And the weather is hardly going to make travel any easier.

[ In fact, she suspects that she'll actually need to go very slowly until the spring comes if she continues on her own. ]

I agree completely! This is ridiculous- especially given the current weather. While I understand the idea of getting new arrivals into setting out on this 'journey', it just seems cruel in the winter! And what if someone doesn't want to?! It's awful! [ Whoops, got a little heated there. Lysithea clears her throat. ] However, I've been told that the local scholar, who lives by the house we came out of, will put people up for the night.

I mean, I don't think anyone would wanna stay here forever. They don't - they don't gotta try that hard to kick us out.

[Like, as unenthused as Arthur is about getting back on the road, New Bark Town has like...maybe two buildings in it that aren't just someone's house? He can't really imagine staying here long-term. Maybe once he gets to one of the bigger cities, he'll park himself and wait to go home, or for someone else to get here or something, but...

The news of somewhere to spend the night perks him up a bit, at least. A good night's sleep before he has to do shit would be fantastic]

[ Lysithea just sighs and shakes her head. ]

Perhaps as we grow accustomed to this place it will make more sense, but it just seems unnecessary right now. And the beginning of anything can impact the rest- a poor start to what's supposed to be a life changing journey doesn't speak well for everything else.

... Oh! It's just occurred to me, I never introduced myself. I'm sorry. I am Lysithea Von Ordelia. As much as I don't like our current situation, it's lovely to meet you.

No, don't be. We were both distracted, and reasonably so. ... I know it's not the best situation, but I hope you're able to enjoy your time here. The people I want to catch up with- they tell me that this place is strange but they're happy.

[ And really, they were both in the same boat. This place didn't need mechanics, and it didn't need battlemages. But maybe in at least one case, it was for the best? ]
