Unfortunately, the admins don't care. I've seen them make the literal god of thieves go through Mandatory Training.

[The person replying to him looks... honestly, he looks far more like a businessman than a criminal. He's got a tie and is even carrying a briefcase.]

[ He starts folding up his uniform and putting it away. Ludwig looks much different than a criminal himself. Probably. In a blue tailcoat suit, he looked much more like an aristocrat. Not to mention an aristocrat with spiked cuffs. Can't forget those. ]

If nothing else, they give us a stipend and free room and board. We don't have to freeze our butts off trying to camp out on the road in winter. Honestly, I don't know how people don't die of hypothermia if they start out on their pokemon journey in winter.

I can't argue vith you there. They're pretty good perks. And honestly- the lucky ones have Fire types. I hate vinter- I much prefer varmer climates.

[ Being from a kingdom surrounded with lava will do that. ]

Oh, ja. It's... definitely been an adjustment. I'm still getting used to this whole... Human thing.

I'm a Koopa! Ve're like a whole species of like... I suppose bipedal turtles? Not too unlike that Squirtle Pokémon, but of course there's various kinds of Koopa. Ve're quite strong, and some can even breathe fire and do magic, myself included! My father's the King of the Koopa Kingdom, even!

[ His chest puffs up with Koopa pride and his arms are at his sides in a confident pose!!! And then of course he kind of deflates slightly. ]

It's uh... Very veird not having my magic or anything admittedly. And humans aren't entirely nightvision-inclined either.

[... Steven's brain stutters for a moment. Right. Okay. He should... probably let Dirk know about the fire-breathing turtle people at some point.]

Yeah, [he says finally.] I miss mine too. But about twice a year there's something people here call 'weird weekends' where we get our proper bodies and powers back. There's another one due by the end of spring.

Steven. I'm one of the three Betas on our little crew of people from other worlds.

[ Oh. That would make Steven twice his senior in the chain of command... right? One of his new commanders heard him complaining. Well... he seemed nice at least? Maybe Ludwig wasn't gonna get into too much trouble. And don't worry, his face doesn't look overly shocked, but he certainly feels like he goofed a bit. Instead he just maintains a more pleasant expression. ]

I see! [ He takes the hand and gives him a firm shake. ] I'm sure ve'll get along swimmingly.

[fingersandteeth]

[Steven smiles at him in a friendly way. His own is firm, the kind of handshake people would call trustworthy.] I'm sure we will, Ludwig. Do you have any questions about the Team for me? I'm happy to answer whatever I can.

[vonkoopa]

[ Perhaps he was pretty chill after all. Ludwig smiles back and releases his hand, dropping it back to his side. ]

Hm... Not at the moment, but I'll be sure to let you know!
