[...You know what? Sure. Why not. The dead little girl is here. It's not even the weirdest thing he's dealt with today.]

Couldn't rest in peace, huh?

[There is a man in a brown jacket standing and inspecting a nearby set of 'runes' carved into the face of a rock. A few feet away, a Growlithe sits at attention. It catches sight of Garrett and begins to yap, though the only indication that the man acknowledges this is a slight turn of his head.]

I do not think there are enough Ghost Pokémon to haunt everything in these ruins. But there does seem to be a significant presence of them in this area.

[From his even, low monotone, it's difficult to tell whether the man has taken Garrett's words literally or if he's trying to be funny.

The Growlithe stops yapping, choosing now to run forward and sniff Garrett's boots.]

Do you find them to be unsettling?

[He's referring to the Ghosts, obviously.]

I thought I did... But then I woke up here, instead.

[And it's certainly better than the Cradle. Although that bar is... low.]

[Something hits her, then, and she hops down from the wall with only a little bit of wobbling. She can be forgiven for a bit of clumsiness, because - ]

And look! I'm warm again!

Why would you want to give away a free dog?

I'll take it off your hands if you don't want it~ 😘

But you're right; this place is SUPER weird!!! I can't drive so I guess I can't complain but it's Super lame that there aren't at least more trains or taxis around here!

And uuum... maybe the horse would be fastest? I haven't seen a horse here yet but if I'm able to have a ghost for a pet I'm sure you gotta be able to tame a horse here!

[Mika herself was very fascinated with the ruins. She mostly investigated her school or other areas of her town, but actual ruins? Ruins that were totally haunted and full of mysteries? Well she couldn't not go!

It was odd, however, to do this alone. Even with Pokemon it doesn't quite feel the same when she doesn't have anyone to banter with to ease the tension, so when she sees that she's not alone she immediately zeroes in on Garrett.]

Gee, you make it sound like a bad thing! Even back home I haven't heard half as many supernatural rumors as I have here! And trust me; I've done a ton of digging around.

[Despite her cheery demeanor, she looks a little bit nervous about this place. She's practically holding her (very confused) Espurr like a shield when she hears the sound coming from the Pokegear.]

A. Action - New Bark Town

Wait, wait--!

[But no, the door closes behind her and locks her out. No matter how much she knocks or pounds or yells or pleads, the woman--her mother--won't open the door again.]

Mother...why...?

[The 18-year-old sighs and shoulders the backpack Mother gave her, starting her journey by wandering aimlessly around town. It's a cute town--her hometown, apparently! She feels like she probably should remember a place where everyone has little creatures following them about, but then she probably should remember a lot of things that she doesn't, so she'll just add it to the pile!

But soon an idea occurs to her, and she suddenly understands--this "Pokemon journey" she's meant to be on must be a quest to recover her missing memories! She slaps her forehead with a palm.]

Of course! Why didn't I think of this sooner? Ha, silly Morgan, missing the answer right in front of my face. How exciting, a quest for my past!

[As if in answer, her stomach growls.]

But first, a quest for lunch.

[She sits down on a nearby bench and rifles through the bag Mother gave her, pulling out a shiny red ~~Applin~~ apple. Mmm. She brings it up to her mouth, ready to take a bite...when it wriggles out of her hand and jumps down into her lap, skittering off to the other end of the bench!]

Gah! A haunted apple! Did you see that??

[This she says to whoever happens to be passing by (or standing around watching this debacle) at the time. Maybe it's you!]

[The Applin sitting on the young woman's shoulder bobs in assent. Smiling broadly, she turns toward the camera.]

Hello, everyone! Whoever everyone is! I, Morgan...um...just Morgan, am an apprentice seeking a master Pokemon breeder to show me the ropes and teach me everything they know! I was studying to be a great tactician to follow in my father's footsteps, but apparently breeding Pokemon is what I'm doing now, so I'd better get to it!

Now, I can't take on just anyone as my mentor, obviously. So those who apply for the job must pass my tests. What are they, you ask? Well, I'll make them up as I--UM, I mean, that's a secret only for the ears of those who heed my call!

[She glances at the Applin on her shoulder and it gives her a sort of...thumbs up, but with its tail. She nods in agreement--that was a great save!]

Don't all respond at once, all you master breeders out there. --actually, it would be pretty great if you did all respond at once, or at least one after the other. Otherwise I'll just be waiting around in bored anticipation all day! You don't want that, do you? Neither do I.

Oh, and--Father, if you're out there and you see this, I'm here! Come find me!

C. Action - Route 29

[Morgan spots someone on the road and hurries over to them with a bright smile on her face.]

Oh hey, there you are! I've been looking everywhere for you. Come on, let's have lunch!

[She has, of course, been doing no such thing, as this person is a total stranger.]

[Morgan is a cheerful amnesiac of 18 years old with a lot of energy and an out-of-the-box style of thinking. She loves playing pranks, studying, eating, testing her strategic skills, and trying anything and everything to get her memories back! Feel free to start up anything you like, I'm game.]

Uh... Not the drums or the bass, no... [He... Would not have done well on the drums. Maybe been decent on the bass.] I did help our vocalist tune his guitar until he learned how to do it on his own, though.

They're cats too? I thought they were just foxes.

You should try giving it a shot sometime! I think you'd be surprised how well your skills with a guitar translates to other instruments. Sure, you're not going to sound great, but just having a sense for rhythm and melody can still take you pretty far.

I can pilot any vehicle that I am given.

[This is all that he has to say on the matter, apparently.]

I have seen several creatures that vaguely resemble Earth horses and other ungulates. However, many of them seem far too small to support someone of my size and weight.

[Like, have you seen the Ponytas...no way is he going to be able to ride them.]

In all honestly, I'm not sure they'd let me.

[This is also to say, they'd probably look at him funny and wonder if he's sick if he suggested a team building exercise like that. Or any team building exercise at all.]

Are they really protective of their instruments?

Of course we all are. We're all either in high school or college and working part time to pay for everything, from instrument maintenance to studio fees. Replacing ours would be huge dent on our finances.

[It's tough out there, man.]

But really, they probably just wouldn't know what to make me of me suddenly coming out asking for that.

Ah, so you're a pro! I've never done any personal recording or producing myself, but I get it. Trying to make a living off a band ain't easy.

[Kazuki laughs.]

Ok, I think I get it.

We... Well, we're not exactly making money off of our work... yet, but yeah...

[Damn, he was not expecting all that. Way to fluster him, Kazuki!]

The advice I'd want to give would be to try and join a recording orchestra-- you know, the kinds of places that record stuff for tv or video games or whatever-- for some extra cash, but I don't know what the demand for guitars is like out there.

They are foxes. They're just...like cats.

[Are they, Felix? Or did you just assign them to the 'cat' box in your mind so you could justify having a small army of Eevees?]

New Bark Town

[Leonardo hastily apologizes to the woman, the one whose home he seems to have accidentally invaded with his arrival, as he leaves. He doesn't know if the apology would do the trick, perhaps he'll have to try again later, but anyone claiming to be his mother-- well, there may be many reasons for that, none he'd like to puzzle over for now. Perhaps he reminds her...?

But all the same, he is here now, wherever here happens to be. The clothes he's wearing are... new, very new. A strange fabric, very stretchy. Not as warm as wool or fine as silk, somehow thinner than that. He wonders what it is made from, how much labor it took, whether he could take apart the seams and remake it-- ah, but perhaps at a later date and time.

In the mean time, he finds a bit of charcoal-- strange, it has some sort of rubber on the end that erases mistakes, and there is, thankfully, some parchment-- no, not parchment, some other material, much thinner, in this pack of his, so perhaps he can get some sketching done. There is this bird, very similar to a pigeon if larger, that has been fluttering around him since he arrived. And as always, when given the chance, he finds himself drawn to its wings.

What else can he do but draw them? Perhaps one day he too shall fly.]

Pardon me, but... is it true, what this guide claims? There are so many species of these pokemon? Have all of them been seen by human eyes? Or are some only idly dreamed about?

[ On the other side of the screen sits a young woman with a calm but encouraging smile. Heck yeah, learning!! ]

To my understanding, there's over 800 pokémon known by the native people, including some living legends- though with the technology of today, even they have been caught on video or photography at least once. It sounds quite daunting, but also exciting!

[ Well, Momo and her vulpix had been on a walk. And then this young woman had approached them as if they were friends? --She wasn't in danger and quietly asking for help, was she? Momo scans the area quickly but... no, it was just the two of them. ]

Um- I'm sorry, but have you perhaps mistaken me for someone else?

[Yay, learning!]

Pictures can only tell you so much, even the very good ones. To see such things in person, that's a very different sort of experience. Much rarer, but also much more valuable. To me, at least.

I agree. There's a difference between seeing a picture of a clear night sky and actually being there yourself. I can only imagine what it's like to see some of the legendary pokémon in person.

And the ordinary ones, they mustn't be overlooked. There's so much they can teach us, if we make the attempt to learn. There are... there must be mechanisms, for how the birds fly and the fish swim. Even these strange ones!

They probably can't hire high schoolers either...

Oh. That makes sense, I guess.
