He's had so many downs since coming back, he's gonna fucking enjoy some chick taking interest in his magical pets. With a smirk, Dandy finally hops off, now that it's clear he can't ride Lulu around anyway. At least he has Ass Rat to travel by foot, but man, he was really hoping for that sweet, sweet Goldenrod grub soon...

But that's neither here nor there.]

I call her Honolulu Hot Wings~ [She doesn't recoil when Dandy pats her on the back, so clearly they're best friends.] Or Lulu for short, whatever sounds better to you. Just one of many on Team Dandy.

[Of course, he can only go so long before he spots the oricorio, and his smarmy little cool trainer act falls flat when he finds himself genuinely curious about the strange purple bird.]

Huh...that's weird, I don't think I've seen a purple one of those before...

Well, it's very nice to meet you, miss Honolulu Hot Wings.

[Maya even gives the bird her usual prayer-handsed bow, before she turns her attention to Dandy and her oricorio again.]

Oh, yeah! They told me Iris is a ghost type.

[She leans down to gently pet Iris's head feathers, trying to reassure her, even as Iris tries to hide her beak further behind her wing.]

[Lulu can't stop herself from holding her wings to her beak as she gives a little giggle. What a nice girl!]

Ghost, huh? Mine sure isn't any kind of ghost...

[Just to make sure, Dandy grabs one of the pokeballs on his belt and pops it open, revealing his......oh, it's Ass Rat.

The large, fluffy skuntank looks completely baffled, blinking a few times when she sees they're still in New Bark. Weren't...weren't they supposed to be flying?]

Ah, right. PC...

[Dandy doesn't even have his oricorio on him.]

Whoa! But you're really cute, too!

[Maya's squatting in front of Ass Rat in an instant, obviously not upset to see something that isn't Oricorio.]

Look how fluffy you are! I didn't realize so many pokemon were this big...

[Ass Rat's confusion only multiplies when the strange new girl starts paying attention to her, her eyes wide in fear. All that fluffy fur bristles on the spot as she gives a very long, very distressed yowl. Cute??? She thinks she's???? Cute??? WHY? They just met, there has to be a mistake-]

They're not supposed to be...

[Dandy remembers when they used to be small.

He had a lot more money back then.]

[Maya's smile widens at Ass Rat's miyazaki puffing, unable to stifle a giggle. Iris, on the other hand, has moved to hiding among Lulu's legs, having apparently decided that Lulu is now her bird senpai.]

That just makes them even more impressive!

[And then, looking straight at Dandy, she adds—]

You must be a surprisingly good trainer! How unexpected.

['surprisingly'...?]

[At that one of Dandy's pokeballs opens completely on its own, revealing Martini, Dandy's completely normal-sized deino. From the moment she materializes, she's laughing her ass off.

Dandy is, of course, less than thrilled.]

Just a whole bunch of comedians comin' together today, huh?

[While Dandy pouts, Lulu is more than happy to play the part of bird senpai, if that means balancing Iris on both her feet and walking around like she's a sentient pair of stilts for her. Stilts you...stand on the bottom of, anyway. She squawks with each step, she really isn't...a normal toucannon.]

Well, I'd offer you a lift, but it looks like we're grounded. You're new, yeah? Word of advise, don't ever leave or they'll take your shit away.

[Iris, content with this setup, chirps opposite every one of Lulu's squawks. She isn't going to argue with a nice toucannon, nor is she going to entertain this Loud Man Maya seems to have the patience to talk to.

Maya, to her credit, is able to withstand Martini's laughter without devolving into laughter herself.]

Gotta start out the hard way, huh?

[before she realizes the strangeness of it—]

Wait, you left and came back?

[The laughter dies down to a snicker, but it doesn't ease Dandy's frustration at all.]

Apparently? Hell if I noticed it, though. It's like taking a nap and waking up to some kinda reset button on your whole poke-life. Martini got weaker too somehow, I don't even wanna know how that works.

Maybe she just got LAZY!!

[He turns around to shout at his little gremlin dragon, who instantly shuts up. She really can't laugh at that, she does need to work to regain her levels, it's become kind of a sore point now that she's surrounded by her much stronger siblings. Such is life.]

[Okay, Maya has to snort a little at that, though she hides it behind her hand similarly to that oricorio of hers... Martini is so cute!]

Guess you can't skip anything if you start over...

[just another thing that seems like a video game... And thus, not out of place for Maya.]

At least you get to see your old friends again, though! That's pretty reassuring.
