Yuuri Shibuya || Kyou Kara Maou
The music playing in the background had Yuuri looking all over his body, in every pocket three times, and everywhere around him to find the source.
"Huh?" he sounded in confusion when he couldn't find a source. Rubbing at the back of his head, the Maou grinned sheepishly at himself. "Aaah maybe I hit my head on the way here..."
The Absol at his side nudged at the young king.
Oh! That's right.
"Hey do you have a name?" Yuuri asked with a bright smile. The absol gave a soft cry and simply stared at the teen.
"Hmm" Hand on his chin, Yuuri's eyes narrowed as he appeared to intently regard the pokemon as if this was the most important thing to do right now. Eyes bright, he clicked his fingers and declared. "Aki! Yes that's a good name because you're fur so bright and white."
With that decided, Yuuri placed his hand on the top of the absol's head and smiled kindly. "It's nice to meet you, Aki."
The moment was interrupted by the sound of footsteps nearby. Yuuri turned to see someone walking nearby.
"Yo-hoooo!" Yuuri called out for attention. Waving his hand high in the sky, the young king dashed towards the first person he saw. "Can you tell me where I am?"
Viridian Forest
His eyes were wide as he stared at the forest with amazement. "Ooowoooaaah!" he sounded in wonder as the canopy of trees folded overhead of him.
This forest was amazing! Wo would have thought there would be somewhere like this here?
There was a squeak before a tap against his shoulder followed. Blinking in surprise, Yuuri glanced back over his shoulder about to ask if someone needed his help.
The young Maou's eyes blinked... Then blinked again before they went as wide as saucers.
"Eeeeehhhh!?!" His arms failed out wide as he tried to run away backwards but he tripped over his own feet and landed on his backside. Scrambling along the forest floor, panic set it as he tried to get away.
"A giant b...b....b...bug!?" Yuuri screeched out as the bug in question looked at him in confusion. "Please don't lay your eggs in my brain!"
Viridian Forest
They were skimming the trees of Viridian Forest, and keeping a keen eye out for Beedrill, when she heard what sounded like human yelling something about eggs and brains? She frowned and called for Nimbus to circle back.
When Nimbus landed, she was surprised to find a boy around her age trying to get away from...a Weedle?
"Are you okay? I heard you scream..." she asked, slowly approaching the boy on the ground while glancing back at the Weedle. It didn't look like it was attacking him. "It didn't sting you, right? I've read that can hurt..."
no subject
The weedle tilted its head in curiosity. Yuuri in return covered his face with his arms as if that would protect him from egg implantation.
Then a voice came to his rescue. That sweet voice of someone saving him. Lowering one arm, the demon king glanced over to his saviour with relief.
"It's coming to get me!" His voice was panicked, but the girl who'd come to his rescue didn't seem all that bothered about this giant bug.
"Eh? Sting me?" Wouldn't the egg implantation be worse then being stung? Oooh he didn't want to be a host to a swarm of bug babies. He already had a daughter to love and cherish. What would happen to her!? This was not how your daddy wanted to be taken down, Greta!
no subject
Hermione rolled her eyes, turning back to the panicked boy.
"Hey, don't worry, my Altaria has got it covered," she replied, kneeling down next to him to try and calm him down.
"Maybe it was just trying to make friends, or maybe you annoyed it somehow?"
no subject
It was only after that giant bird flew up and over him did Yuuri actually notice it was there. His eyes widened but this time in awe as he watched it go. "Woooah," he sounded and just like that all thoughts of the bug were gone from his mind.
Despite traveling between two worlds he was still wrangling his mind around being in a new one again. He'd sort of been paying attention, but not really, when he'd been rushed or the door, and he was still trying to wrap his head around everything.
"I felt a tapping on my shoulder," Yuuri admitted after a moment but that sounded weak even to him. Now that he thought about it, maybe he did overreacted a little...? Feeling sheepish, the young Maou rubbed at the back of his head. "Aah sorry about that. I guess it's not going to lay its eggs in me then?"
Now that would be a relief. Greta! Papa can still make it home!
no subject
"No, I'm 100% confident that it won't lay eggs in you. Pokemon eggs are quite large - I should know. Sounds like it was just trying to make friends."
The Weedle was certainly making friends with Nimbus, climbing up on to his fluffy wing.
She straightened, holding a hand out to the boy to help him up.
"Why are you out here on your own? Don't you have a pokemon?" she chided.
no subject
"Thank you!" He said then took the hand to stand back up. The mention of the bug wanting to make friends had Yuuri peering around curiously at the two animals. "Do animals do that a lot here?"
Now that he thought about it... The animals in Shin Makoku were pretty friendly as well. T-zou, the bear bees and pochi, they'd all been quite friendly to him.
The scolding tone though had the young Maou pausing in his track. He was used to being told off by Gunter, Gwendal, Conrad, Wolfram, Anni--... Pretty much everyone if he were to be honest with himself. Rubbing the back of his head, he glanced sheepishly at the girl.
"Aah well the forest looked really interesting to see so I took a walk out here to take a look," Yuuri said before he rubbed his chin in thought at the mention of 'pokemon'. He looked as clueless as he sounded as he asked, "What's a pokemon?"
no subject
She gestured towards her Altaria and the Weedle and put on her teaching voice.
"They call animals Pokemon here. There are many different kinds, but they all have...well, abilities, for want of a better word. People here keep them as pets, train them, breed them or battle them - humanely, I might add," she hurriedly explained further, in case, as she did when first arriving, he got the wrong idea.
It was pretty obvious by his reaction to everything that he was new here, so she took pity on him.
"I'm Hermione Granger. You know, you really shouldn't go into the forest without your pokemon out of its pokeball. I assume you received one from a strange lady when you first arrived? If not, I can loan you one?"
no subject
"Huh?" He questioned before a flash of shock ran over his face. "Battle them?!" Yuuri did hear the humanely part but the thought of making animals flight seemed so wrong in his mind. That thought was written all over his face as he looked at the weedle and altaria. "Who would want to make them fight?"
The introduction brought the young Maou's attention back to the girl. "Thank you, Hermione," Yuuri said with a thankful smile. "I'm Yuuri, Shibuya Yuuri," he offered in return before the mention of a ball and the strange lady reminded him of Aki.
"Oh you mean this?" Yuuri pulled the red and white ball out and held it in the palm of his hand as he showed Hermione.
no subject
"Nice to meet you Yuuri. And yes, that's a pokeball - it should have your first pokemon inside, if you haven't opened it already."
It really seemed like Yuuri had just stumbled out of the house, and then just...wandered into the forest with no idea what was going on. She'd be surprised if he even checked his PokeGear. It was probably best to bring him up to speed. Surprisingly, apart from running into the Weedle, he didn't seem to be bothered by just randomly appearing here.
"Okay, I think I need to explain what happened to you, as best as I can. So, someone or something has been bringing people, like you and me, to this pokemon world from their own world. It's been happening for a very long time, a number of years most definitely. No one knows who or why and the locals don't really even seem interested in finding out. Everyone brought here "wakes up" in that mom lady's house, is given a pokemon and a backpack by her, and shoved out the door. Following so far?"
no subject
Although he missed Conrad and the others and wished they could be here with him too in this strange new world.
Hermione's explanation was met with the appropriate head nod as he hmm'ed in thoughtful agreement at the right time. The only reason he kept track of most of what she said was because he'd been through sometime similar a few times. He did idly wonder if the time in this world was slower or faster than that of Earth of Shin Makoku?
"Okay so is there a big boss or something we've got to fight here?" Yuuri asked earnestly. There always seemed to be a problem that needed to be solved each time Shinou had pulled him to Shin Makoku. It had to be the same thing here right? Then something Hermione said clicked in Yuuri's mind. "Waitaminute! Years?! This has been happening for years and no one knows why?"
His heart clenched in his chest at the thought of being stuck here and not being able to see Conrad and the others again.

She blinked at his question about a big boss. "Er, well no, not really a big boss. There's Team Rocket, which is, for want of a better term, an organised crime ring that often causes problems. Occasionally there have been some incidents involving...well...an alien species, I guess you could say. Although, technically we're an alien species, so...," she trails off, unsure of how to finish off that train of thought.
"In any case, yes, it's been going for so long and yet there still aren't any answers - and I've been searching. Sometimes you'll just be sent home without warning - that happened to me. But I didn't remember my time here at all until I was brought back here again recently."
She was still extremely disturbed that her mind had been tampered with in such a way. It was her biggest asset and the thought that someone had so carelessly just stripped away months of her life from her memories without her knowing was terrifying.
"Do you know what kind of pokemon you have?" she asked curiously, eyeing his pokeball while changing the topic abruptly to distract him. She didn't want to freak Yuuri out too much on the first day.
no subject
His mind paused in its wondering though when he heard the word alien. "Aliens?!" he gasped. Now that was something he hadn't encountered before! "Little green people type aliens and government conspiracies?? That type of aliens?"
He was imagining a first contact situation and Yuuri's eyes went wide at the thought. Aaah wouldn't they have to put their best foot forward?! Although if they'd been here already then there wouldn't be a need for a first contact situation. Aaah all these new things!
Yuuri peered at Hermione with curious eyes as she talked about being here before and not remembering it. "Huh? So it's not like Shin Makoku." He muttered to himself before his attention was brought to the pokeball in his possession.
Peering down at it, Yuuri grinned sheepishly as he admitted, "I don't really know how to open it?" Maybe he should look for a manual for this world. Maybe that PokeGear have one??
no subject
She just caught some mention of...makoki? Makoka?...and wondered if that's where he was from. It didn't sound like any place on Earth, so that ruled that out.
Somehow she also wasn't surprised when Yuuri announced he had no idea how to open his pokeball. She felt like rubbing her temples. He was as bad as Ron! Didn't anyone ever read any instructions?
"You just point the part with the circle away from you and click the circle. It will open and release your pokemon. Don't worry, they're not uncomfortable inside the pokeball."
She'd made absolutely sure that was the case her first time around. She flushed slightly, remembering her rant over the network about enslaving creatures in these tiny balls, so she felt it was important to reiterate her learnings to Yuuri just in case he felt the same way.
"You know, you really should read the information in your pokegear. It's got lots of useful details in there. It will also give you information about your pokemon or wild pokemon you come across. And you can use it to contact people."
no subject
Thankfully the instructions about how to use the pokeball distracted the young Maou from the alien thoughts as he turned the ball to glance at it.
"So all you have to do is press this button?" Yes Yuuri has listened, but Hermione's explanation was still processing in his mind as he did as he was told and pressed the button... Not yet realising she had also said to point it away from you.
The reaction was instant as the ball began to open. Yuuri let out a yelp of surprise as a red light rushed towards him causing the young Maou to fall backwards onto his backside with an 'omph!'.
A moment later the young king was joined with his absol as it formed in the air above him. With wide eyes and a sound of surprise, the absol fell out of the sky and landed directly in top of Yuuri.

She was too late. She winced as a large Absol landed right on top of Yuuri. The similarities between Yuuri and Ron were really starting to get ridiculous.
The Absol looked just as bewildered at the situation.
"Are you okay? You're lucky it wasn't a Snorlax. Please remember to point the pokeball opening away from you next time," she sighed, holding out a hand to help him up...again...
no subject
"Aahh I didn't know that was going to happen," Yuuri said sheepishly as he rubbed st his aching chest and felt embarrassed. He didn't hesitate in taking the offered hand and pulled himself up. "Thanks," he said gratefully while brushing himself off.
"I'll have to remember for next time to face it away," Yuuri said before looking at his pokemon. "Are you okay, Aki?" he asked his absol and smiled in relief when he got a nod in return.
