Oh, heck, it's fine, he's not used to kids looking at him all impressed like that.]
Well, miqo'te usually have more feline ears and tails - the latter of which is rather disorienting when you must suddenly go without. And there are usually markings on my face? Right here. [And he taps either side of the bridge of his nose, near his eyes.] I'm not exactly versed in regaining lost appendages, sadly, so I've decided to make due, but it is shockingly difficult.
[Seriously, how do others stand it?]
no subject
[Anyway.]
...you're a catboy?!
[CHIP NO THAT'S RACIST]
Do you have powers and stuff? Do you fight crime? Are your tattoos a spell?
1/2
that sure is a term]
Ah-
[G'raha coughs, tries not to look too put-out. This is a kid, and one that clearly has never heard of miqo'te before, they wouldn't know.]
Well, my - no, I...my skill in magic has nothing to do with that! Most peoples can learn the art of spellcraft where I am from. [Save for Garleans and those who just didn't have a knack for it - but even the latter could do some aetherical manipulation. After all, Aetherytes are fairly common.]
2/2
You could say, though, that I help to safeguard the realm. Why, but recently I have been extended membership into the Scions of the Seventh Dawn - true and great heroes who work tirelessly to preserve the future of our star.

[Congratulations on your first fan, G'raha Tia! They are very dumb and will bite someone to defend your honor.]
How d'you do your rituals, though? You gotta have something, that's how it works! [Chip is very well aware that magic does, in fact, work differently on other worlds, but those worlds are doing it WRONG and STUPID and their way makes way more sense.] My dad knows a priest guy that has a tattoos all over for his magic!!

Normally, one would cast with one's own aether and through a focus, such as a tome or a staff. It can wear you out fairly easily, though - especially if you're not used to it.
[See: this dumbass overextending himself and forgetting he's not constantly drawing on a solar powered tower and trying to do The Big Spells and then asking hey why am I so wiped out]
no subject
[Is he a DRAGON catboy??? (Also G'raha please WoL is going to suplex you into self care if you keep that up--)]
And everybody can do it?
no subject
[Does. Should he. Get into like...aether and stuff? That's fairly heavy to just drop on a kid who isn't familiar with the concept at all.]
Most everybody can do a little bit of magic. Though I have noticed I lack the ability here...
no subject
[HUFF HUFF]
But humans have to like...you gotta make circles and get stuff to be symbols for everything about the magic. Just thinking it real is like, dragon stuff, and angels and demons and fae!
[Chip frowns a little, glaring down at the ground and grabbing onto their sleeves. They're not making any sense, and they know it.] ...Dad could say it better...
why did dw not tell me I got a response asdfghjkl
I had noticed my abilities were lacking when I arrived here...can no one in this world truly wield magic at all?
JDHHGVGH I WAS WONDERING...
I'M SITTING HERE LIKE...DIDN'T I GET A TAG FROM CHIP? WHERE IS IT?
Oh, psychic, esper, okay, that tripped him up for a second. So many new terms for things, so many new concepts...]
So fauna like these are normal? That...is honestly the least confusing thing about this world so far.
[Eorzea had plenty of voidsent with powers, and creatures that just Existed with powers, and - well, Pokemon remind him more of the beast tribes than mere beasts, so it's been a very strange experience so far.]
Though I do find it intriguing that the norm is to have them fight each other, rather than defend oneself...[Hold on, he's having a think right now.] But considering how ubiquitous they seem in society, and how their roles seem to fluxuate, would a human defending oneself not be seen as that? And then there are the battles for sport...
[He's just. This is all very new to him, he's still learning.]

[Gotta get those LEVELS!!]
no subject
[Wh. Huh?]
So this is...a sort of game? I'm...perhaps you ought to start at the beginning, I feel like I'm missing something.
no subject
[They pull out their Gear and start fiddling with it, still talking while they do. They've gotten really good at explaining this!]
It's like...uh, like a little play that happens on the 'Pad, except you get to tell it how it goes! The Paliens game at home was my favorite, and they made a cartoon about it, too!
[Now they hand over the Gear to G'raha, which has the start screen for Amuk Us with colorful little Grimer buddies drifting around.]
But it's not a game here, it's for real! But a lot of how it works is the same.
no subject
He looks a little lost when he's holding Chip's 'gear, not really sure how Amuk Us factors into all of this, but it sure is colorful.]
Interesting...and these games are available to everyone?
[The Litten has come over to look at the vidyas. Their stare is unreadable.]
no subject
Yeah! Some of them you gotta pay for to play them, but there's a lot of free ones, too.
[--oh, catte. Chip looks down at the Litten, then crouches to hold out their hand to let it sniff. Will they be allowed to pet...?]
no subject
Who exactly do you pay in order to play them...? There isn't any place to put your coin in this device.
[Honey it's not a machine at the Gold Saucer it doesn't work like that!!
Litten sniffs the hand. Blinks. Does a lil blep. Pets are not objected to, it seems.]
no subject
The Pad keeps track of the money with your account. It's like, um... [Chip frowns for a moment while they think.] The bank keeps track of everybody's money, and the Pad can ask them how much you have and give it to the people that made the game. I think? I don't know all of how it works...
no subject
Is it not easier to hold onto one's own money?
[Like sure he knows what banks are there's probably banks in Eorzea but also...adventurers just probably keep all their cash in their pockets to plunk down in bags at the bars they go to at the end of a long journey or somesuch. Still, he shrugs - if that's how this place works, then he'll have to learn its ways.]
Hm...well, even so, I suppose I shall have to make use of these free games and experience them on my own time. [Here is your 'gear back, Chip!] Thank you for showing them to me.
no subject
[They take the Gear back with a happy grin, shoving it back into their pocket.] No problem! I like helping, so...!
no subject
no subject
I-I will! I promise! I'm gonna help the most! [Chip, it's not a competition--]
