Your guess is as good as mine. From the name, I'm assuming most of this area is known for nature...

[ He fumbles with the device he's been given, same as the child's, he notes. ]

Seems there's a national park in this region as well, so perhaps my assumption is correct.

I did, yes. At least I'm not the only one to experience being rushed out the door by a stranger claiming to be my mother...

[ it's then he notices the girl's attention seems to be focused more on his fluffy partner. ]

Ah yes, this is Million. She seems unusually wary of me, are all creatures in this place so flighty?

[ will he realize at some point that the doggo is scared because he's a walking apocalypse? stay tuned to find out! ]

I imagine the changes must take people affected quite by surprise, yes. Though I'm sure if you ask around enough, you'll be able to find others in a similar situation who might be able to help you adjust.

[ as lucilius speaks, naoto's gathering all his things from the floor and standing up so that he's not as messy as he looks. making a good impression is important!! ]

[ a blink, then a smile. ] Nice meeting ya, Lucilius. I'm Naoto. I'm guessing you were in another world before waking up here to a 'mom' who kicked you out?

[ naoto did you have to be hyper-specific...? ]

[ talk about unlucky. right as he's preparing to respond to the chat message, he inattentively runs headfirst into its sender, nearly dropping his device. ]

Oh. My apolog--

[ really? of all the familiar faces to run into here, it had to be the spare...

his tone immediately sours. ]

Did you fail to uphold your promise so badly, you would rather play with colorful animals?

[ he's sneering like a tomcat, but reduced to being a human he's not exactly threatening. ]

What would poor Lucifer think, hm?

Ah, so that's what they're called! [ he looks so relieved to finally know. he picks a slowpoke up, grinning at its lopsided smile. ] Think I might just take one, if they'll let me!

[ when mentioned that they were famous, naoto blinks. ] Are they? I'm still really new to everything here.

If you try to catch one, you've gotta do it on the sly, or go a little further out in the forest. The locals really love them. They'll notice if one's missing.

Did you just get here? It's been awhile since I've run into a newcomer.

[ there was little to malice in those words, but still... don't call him out.... he knows...... ]

[ That man named his Espurr 'Breakfast' and looked about as vacant as a Motel 8 from the early 80s that hadn't changed since. A professor. That guy. Is she sure they're talking about the same guy? Well. He was nice enough to her, at least, that she doesn't really dwell on it.

The Snom gives a delighted cooing noise as he's pet, eyes closed and nuzzling up into those fingers. ] He is! Right? I wasn't expecting it either but I guess he is a worm-bug-thing. It makes sense.

Just, y'know, mind the ice spikes. Those things are also a lot sharper than they look.

It's not-- !!!

[ that voice, that pompous demeanor... sandalphon immediately backed up, hands on his own pokéballs just in case lucilius tried something. he would much prefer his sword and angel wings, but making do is what he does best. his next words came out more like a snarl. ]

Don't you dare talk about Lucifer like that! What are you doing here?!

They will? ... I guess I can see why, given how happy these guys look. [ he grins-- he likes their dopey looking faces. ]

I did! This place's a lot more peaceful than I thought-- and I love it, actually!

I could ask the same of you. You and your sentimentality, I doubt you're actually here willingly.

[ he throws his hands up, not particularity in the mood to fight despite his open hostility. ]

I'm not here to fight you, calm down. Not that I could, anyway. I'm unarmed, this strange dog fears me, and I seem to have been turned to a mortal. Whether or not you want to help me get my bearings is up to you, but I'll take even you over the countless children that seem to have arrived the same day I did.

Well, yes, but not so much another world as trapped in the void between dimensions... it was well deserved, but still.

They're really relaxing to hang out with. I come to feed the ones out here in the well once a week. They're kind of like kami, so it's probably good for the town that they're taken care of.

That's great! Azalea's so out in the boonies, it's rare for people to settle down here.

[ naoto lights up for a moment, but then his brows furrow, as he looks at lucilius carefully. ] Wait a sec, you came from the Boundary? Huh... I don't see the crest on you. Nor do I sense the Azure anywhere on ya...

[ he doesn't immediately respond, mostly because he doesn't know if lucilius is lying. he could be, hiding his wings until the final moment and end it all. he grits his teeth before loosening up just a bit. he still has his hand on a pokéball as he fishes out his pokedex, just in case. ]

That strange dog you're speaking of is an Absol. [ he puts it away without telling him. ]

I could help you, but what do I gain from it? For all I know, you're waiting for the serpent to find you and drag this peaceful world down into hell with you. Anything to watch the world burn, right?

T-the what, now?! You're asking far too many questions!

[ he's really, really trying not to raise his voice, so it comes out as more of an indignant squeak than anything. ]

When I say that, I mean I was trapped in a vast expanse of nothingness, a rift in space.

... it was because I attempted to destroy my world.

*that response just gets a laugh out of Sion; his best friend says stuff like that to him all the time!*

I don't know about people who were once human, changed, and then human again, but there's quite a few who were never human in the first place, actually.

But the Boundary is exactly that-- a vast expanse of nothingness! How the hell did you make it out without any crest to prove it!?

[ he regrets asking that, thanks to lucilius dropping that bombshell on him. ] Huh?! Destroy your world...? ... You're not Izanami, are you...?

I'll be frank with you, Sandalphon.

Why would I aim for destruction when my reason for it all is finally gone? When the rage that kept me alive for all those thousands of years is pointless?

[ he laughs weakly, sitting down there in the open. really, why did it have to be Sandalphon of all people? why? ]

Why am I finally free, only to be lost and confused? Is this the Omnipotent's punishment for me?

[ he just sits there as Million nuzzles him softly with a whimper. ]

Is... is this how you felt?

The burden of living without purpose stings, does it not?

[ his words are callous, almost freezing. he doesn't care anymore. he can be just as vicious as he wants, and sandalphon only wants lucilius to understand before he even tries to harm him. ]

Those are the vile emotions that festered within me for millennia. The torment of accepting that you'll never be anything but a pawn for those above you.

There may be an elder Astral by that name, but no. As I said, I am Lucilius, head Astral researcher and the creator of primal beasts.

[ this is going over Naoto's head, he's sure. but he doesn't care particularly. this child's being kind to him, so may as well assuage his fear. ]

... those are terms I've never heard before, but I'll believe you, just this once.

[ after all, he's not asking about his own crest on full display, or about the boundary as a whole. ]

Anyways, we're in this new world together, and... uh, I've seem to have lost my abilities. That's nice. It's hard to ignore not seeing numbers anymore...

[ his fault. intended or not, he was the one who caused that. and now it's being thrown back in his face.

he can't even cry. he just meekly defends himself from the blow he's sure he'll receive. ]

I know it's far too late for any forgiveness, but... that was all my fault. I said something you were never meant to hear, and it caused all that.

I know you won't forgive me, so if you're going to strike me while I'm down, then make it count.

I'm sorry... for everything.
