More importantly is the miqo'te addressing her. Not one she recognises, unfortunately. But a kind one. Seems to be a running thing here.]
How do you know that? Have you ever spoken with the beasts back home?
[Yes, because that's definitely the important part of the conversation here. She'll acknowledge that they're from the same world, at least. There's no denying that.]

From time to time. I talk to my chocobo quite often, though I don't think he understands half of what I say. Dhaval and the rest of my Pokemon follow along quite easily by contrast--at least with my words, they struggle with some concepts.

[Mind, Ysayle is no chocobo whisperer herself, but sometimes it's not language used that gets the point across. Sometimes it's tone.]

Although— [She can't help casting a look over to her lapras.] —I hardly know what this one would want of me. Mayhap merely attention. Are you capable of understanding your own?

Only so far as gestures go; I've picked up a few sort of 'phrases' they use for things they're each attached to, but not much past that. So far as what it wants...attention or companionship is what I'd waver, though what little I've seen isn't much to go off of.
[They grin and shrug in a sort of 'what can you do?' gesture.]
Has it shown any particularly noteworthy quirks or behaviors?
no subject
None that I have noticed. I would not know what behaviours or quirks to be particularly noteworthy. It seems merely interested in being in my space. At all times.
[So. Akin to a child, perhaps, though to be fair it's not as though she's spent a frightful amount of time with children either.]
