Well! If nothing else, Kimmuriel and I have been able to secure a few more of these magical creatures—as well as securing a sizable bounty for an overlarge bird, with the help of a little girl who once was a kenku. If you are in Violet City already, have you by chance visited the Ruins of Alph? It is there that we discovered some of our most useful new creatures.

[A set of animate keys jingles merrily above his shoulder.]

This is Mrim'ol—and though she is small, I am reliably informed that she can keep far larger creatures locked in place, should she choose.

[Yes, he named his Klefki "key" in the drow tongue.]

I've heard of the ruins, but I haven't visited yet. [It had sounded like a distraction, honestly, but if there are useful creatures there... maybe she'll take a look.

For the moment, though, she allows herself to be sidetracked by Jarlaxle's... keys? She leans in a little toward the screen - and therefore the camera - trying to get a closer look.] Is it a creature or an item?

Both! A sort of living magical item, I suppose. She's quite clever. And Kimmuriel has contrived to capture a few psionic creatures himself—he plans to train them to be as formidable as he ever was.

[Which in Jarlaxle's opinion is Quite Formidable Actually.]

What, his mind-magic didn't survive the transformation? [There's just a slight hint of a sharp smile with the question. She's still very sore about the loss of her own clerical powers - and so soon after regaining Lolth's favor, as well! - but maybe she doesn't feel quite as bad if Jarlaxle's odd little minion is similarly struggling.] Pity.

Still, we find our ways around such limitations! It's quite the interesting challenge.

[She can't even accuse him of not taking this seriously, not really - Vierna knows that Jarlaxle has survived being Houseless much, much longer than she has. She values his skill at surviving - thriving - in very bad situations. Not that she'd tell him as much. Not that it improves her mood right now.]

I have. I'm not sure I've been on the road at the best times to find others to battle, though. The bat-monster they gave me in that first town doesn't handle sunlight well.

[And she feels bad about keeping the zubat shut up in her pokeball all day while she's out and about, for some reason. Hence the way the pokemon can be seen chilling under her cloak when she shifts the camera angle a little.]

Ah, my Orbb is much the same. [Hearing his name spoken, the red arachnid creature peeks over Jarlaxle's shoulder. He reaches back to give him a scritch atop his head.] I discovered him nesting in a tree and attempted capture—Kimmuriel recorded the whole thing with his communication device if you wish to see later.
