Meanwhile, a shy Ralts peeked out from around Radley's leg.]

Cool! Lemme just...

[She rummages in the pack strapped to her hip for a moment before pulling out her PokeGear, taking a moment to smile and wave with one finger at the little Ralts.]

I haven't fooled around with all the functions yet, but it can be a phone, right?

[instrumentally]

I believe that you hold the device so that it can scan the pokemon, and then you will receive information about the creature in question.

[ at least she was eager to accept. rock always liked it when he was able to share food, especially some that he's made. it made learning all the more worth it in his eyes. he smiles bashfully as she comments on its appeal, laughing lightly. ]

Yeah, it's not a problem. It's nice to meet you, Kotone. I'm Rock.

[ he notices the tepig by her side, and realizes he might be hungry as well. he fishes out some pokefood for the other, holding some out. ] Ah, and here's some for your pokemon. Can't let anyone go hungry, after all.

Hundreds? Oh boy. [ the growlithe barked, agreeing with his trainer. yep, that's a whole lot. ] I'm sure going to hope that there's a way to keep track of them all...

[ that's what he figured, and he sighs. if he wants a motorbike again, he's going to have to work for it. but something catches his interest. ] Wait, region? There's more than what the map gives me?

[ a beat. ] Then again, I did see the ferry sign. Then that Kanto place is another region to this world?

[The Ralts gives a shy little smile, but keeps hugging Radley's leg.]

Yeah, it sure can! It does video calls.

[She giggles softly and looks down at Terry.]

I'd say that's a sign you two are on the same page! That's got to make for a good partnership.

It does, doesn't it? [It's said with the air of somebody who's never been in any kind of Situation™.] I mean, it seems like everywhere you go someone's looking for a Pokemon battle.

And you know, I think that could work pretty well. At least until I see if some of the busier places have somewhere to get supplies; there's such a wide variety of berries growing here.

Yeah. They don't. But they're animals so...

And I'm not sure. I haven't really tried to make sense of it.

Ah- So you're from the USA? I've actually never been there before. Got any good recommendations to visit? You're also correct, you're not... on our earth. I'm not sure of the name of this world though.

New Orleans is the place to be! Every kind of celebration imaginable! They don't like sleepin' down there; New Orleans is an all-night city!

[But he looks shaken by the confirmation this isn't Earth.]

So ... uh ... when do we get home?

[Or would he want to? He had just died back there; going back probably meant he'd still be dead. Maybe he'd have to make a new life here....]

That simple, hm? Then that at least makes traveling a little more easier. Anything else I should know?

New Orleans, huh? I'll keep that in mind! I've never visited a place that's always partying.

[Marik's smile shifts into an uncertain one.]

I... can't give you an answer on that, I'm afraid. I've heard some people return home after a few months, some have been here for over ten years... No one knows how it works.

[Snakes wavers.]

... Well, I'm probably better off here now anyway.

So ... what goes on in this place? How do people make money?

[ a bark from the growlithe. he thinks so, she thinks so, it all works out! no need for doubt in this household, rock! his trainer just stares at him. ]

... Really? Just going to agree with a stranger?

Yeah, you said it... I might have enough to make it to the next town over if I'm careful, but at this point, I'm just picking a direction and wandering.

[He sighs, taking his hat off for a moment to run a hand through his hair. He shakes his head, smiling sheepishly as he replaces his hat.]

Trey Clover, by the way. And this little one-- [He indicates the Scorbunny.] --is named Marzipan.

[labassisting]

[It may have been a bad joke, but Harper finds themself laughing a bit anyway. Their Fennekin lets out a soft 'tsk' and shakes her head.]

Oh, yeah, I'm Harper. Good to meet you, Kotone. [Another noise from the Fennekin, and--] Oh, yeah, and this is Princess.

[brokenuniverse]

Ohh, so it's pretty advanced! Definitely gonna have to fool around with it more when I get the time.

[She smiles as she looks from the Ralts to the Pokemon who had run off to play.]

All the things I've run into so far are really cute. Are there bigger ones out there?

Nice to meet you, Harper. And you too, Princess.

[Bending over again, she picks up her Tepig and plops him on the table in front of her, apologizing quietly when seeing how disoriented he looks.]

This little guy is Buntarou! At first, I thought "Bunta" because it sounds like "buta" (pig), but then I added "rou" with the kanji for cheerfulness.

[Buntarou gives a happy cry and hops a little circle.]

You can see why.

Yeah. Sometimes it feels like you can't even make eye contact with people without starting one. Battles are kind of fun, but I don't want my little guys to get hurt.

There really are a lot of them, aren't there? Remembering all the names and what each one does has been the hardest thing for me so far, to be honest.

[brokenuniverse]

Good to meet you too, Rock. You don't... mind if I eat this now, do you?

[She gives a bashful grin as her stomach growls again. The bottomless pit demands a sacrifice.]

Oh, thank you! Hey, Tepig, say thanks.

[Her Tepig bounds over to Rock quickly enough to practically run into him, before cheerfully hopping up and down with happy little cries.]

Aha. Sorry, guess he's hungry too.

[crystalmaster]

Yeah, I'm still not sure I've seen everything it can do!

[He chuckles.]

There sure are. Some are so big, they can't go in the house.

[He shows a picture of Onix.]

[brokenuniverse]

[Her eyes widen a little when she looks at the picture.]

Oh wow! Okay, so there's a lot of variety then. That's cool.

[crystalmaster]

Yeah, no kidding! Some of the Types are really confusing. There's some that seem to be made out of food!

U-um, just asking... Do people eat some of these? [The potential implications of having a little pig are hitting.]
