[Min-Gi doesn't pay the trainer up ahead that much attention at first. It's only when his Corvisquire he'd let out to stretch her wings decides to get herself in the way of the Poison Stings he starts to rush forward to catch up to her and the mischief she's got herself into this time. Thankfully she seems to have avoided getting hit by any, and flies herself over to Min to tuck herself into the safety of his shoulder.]

I'm so sorry. She doesn't think things through sometimes. I'm sorry if she got in the way.

[He seems almost surprised at the return offer. Maybe not as much as he might've been in the past but still, it was there.]

...Thanks, I'll do my best to remember that.

[A brief twiddling of his thumbs as he searches for continuing conversation.]

So. Where did you learn about cooking?

[Hunter had been going for another block when movement at the corner of his eye caught his attention. Leaping back automatically, he brought the stick up for defense just as quickly- then paused, the battle-ready hardness in his eyes clearing to be replaced by surprise at another trainer and their Pokemon. He held his hand out to ease Skorupi back, and shook his head.]

No no-! It's okay. It was just an exercise anyway. [He eyed the bird, tracking her as she moved.] What kind of de- Pokemon is that, anyway?

[ With the weather starting to get colder, Fluttershy had come back to Goldenrod City for a while to pick up a few things. Mostly more knitting supplies to make accessories and things, but while she was here she thought it couldn't hurt to start shopping for more fall and winter clothes

Her Audino and Raboot were by her side as always, but riding on her shoulder was a Joltik of her own, and noticing the other Joltik with its trainer, Wattson gives a little chirp and wave. ]

[She peeks out, still interested in the other Pokémon and their partner despite the near miss.]

She's a Corvisquire. Her name's Red. I'm hoping she'll be able to be my flier when she evolves. They get a lot bigger.

[She's already too big to really be comfortable up on his shoulder, though she's not letting that stop her. She's got to make the most of it while she still can!]

Corvisquire. Huh.

[He continued watching her, while his Skorupi came up and crawled up his body until they got to his shoulder.]

I like the idea of our Pokemon helping us get around. I hadn't considered that before.

[He glanced at the bug, holding his arm up a bit.]

This is Venom. He's a pretty recent addition, but I've found some ways to do some special training with him anyway.

[Hunter had been looking at a sweater himself, one that featured assorted stylized Pokeballs, when the Pokemon noises caught his attention. He glanced at Volt, then where the attention was pointed, and finally noticed the other trainer.]

Oh! Hey there. [He smiled, seeing the other Joltik.] So, you've got one too, huh?

[Hunter and the Skorupi will soon find themselves joined by another Pokemon-- a Riolu that's found a rather large stick. The Riolu... seems to be copying Hunter's movements as best as the little Fighting-type can. Or trying to, at least.]

Ah, Valente, don't bother them--

[ Fluttershy could at least hear that Wattson was greeting another Pokemon, so she isn't entirely surprised when another trainer addresses her. Glancing over, she manages a friendly smile as she nods. ]

Oh yes! [ She holds up her hand so that Wattson can crawl from her shoulder to perch on her hand. ] They're just so cute, don't you think? I couldn't resist.

It comes in handy! You need a badge if you want to fly or surf, but if you have any that are big enough to ride on land you don't need to beat any gyms for that.

[She fluffs up her feathers, letting out an indignant "Corv!" at the other Pokémon as they climb up on Hunter's shoulders. As though almost getting caught in the firing line wasn't completely her own fault.]

That seems like a pretty dangerous way of training. Aren't you worried you'll get hurt?

Varian | Rapunzel's Tangled Adventure

On a Route (Night)
[This world has so many unfamiliar things. Really, the Pokemon are just the tip of the iceberg, and Varian's devoting his downtime to learning all he can. Often, when he stops for the night, he'll pull out his Pokegear and start researching before he even sets up camp.

In fact, sometimes camp just doesn't get set up. One might encounter the teen slumped under a tree, his back against the trunk. Corrosion is in his lap, and Varian had his Pokegear propped up on the Hisuian Zorua's back as he read... But by now they've both fallen asleep. Maybe someone should wake them up? Or, hey, he might make an easy target for Rockets.]

Goldenrod
Hey! Stop that Pokemon!

[The call is accompanied by a Nickit dashing by, a satchel held in its mouth by the strap. Varian isn't too far behind, but the city is bustling and a little help couldn't hurt. He'd rather avoid calling out Corrosion, after all. Her intense style of battle isn't well-suited for such a busy area.]

Hey, here's a question...

[Varian holds up a Pachirisu, who waves at the camera when he realizes he's being filmed.]

I've noticed that Conduction here can easily end up with too much of a power build-up, and then he ends up shocking me when he doesn't mean to. It's not a big deal, really! But it's gotta be uncomfortable for him to get to that point.

I'm guessing they usually get rid of that excess through battle, but he gets scared to fight. Usually he'll just freeze up and do nothing, so... Any ideas on how else he can unload his electric power?

[I mean, it's fine, there's just this deathly pale lady leaned over him and her eyes reflect light so they seem to be glowing and aaaaaaaaaaaaaa---]

You shouldn't be sleeping here.

[Corrosion's keen ears, aided by ghostly senses, rouse her as someone approaches, but she pretends to stay asleep. She doesn't trust new people, but a false sense of security might give her a tactical advantage should a fight break out.

On the other hand, Varian is slow to stir. He grumbles a bit, slowly opens his eyes... And lets out a frightened yelp at the sight he's met with.] Jeez! [Even once he's calmed down he's wary. Not nearly as much so as Corrosion, no, but he eyes the woman carefully, eyebrows raised.]

Y-Yeah, you're probably right... [He places a hand on Corrosion's back, trying to be subtle in giving her a shake, but she's committed to pretending to sleep. She's doing well enough to fool her trainer, at least.] I was going to put up my tent after some reading, but I guess I didn't make it that far.

This tree isn't a good idea. Look.

[She points to some marks around the base of the tree--Weevil burrows. Which means...]

Come morning, I doubt the Beedril are going to appreciate you here. Come. There are safer trees not far.

[It's probably not helping Naeva's case on not being spooky and suspicious--she's short, but her presence is like nine feet tall, and she's dressed rather elegantly for someone who knows so much about being out in the woods. Her eyes retained their inhuman pupils as much as their reflective quality. And, well.

Remy found a cape so he's practicing skulking about. Remy's no help whatsoever.]

Goldenrod

[Oh. Whoof. Min-Gi has definitely been in this guy's shoes before, so he can feel for the kid who's found himself at the mercy of Goldenrod's resident Nickit's. He definitely doesn't know the alleys of the city like they do, but luckily they're not the fastest Pokémon out there.

He might just have a duo who can help them out...

Quickly grabbing two balls from his belt, his Plusle and his Pancham are released in two quick bursts of light.]

Ryan, try to catch up to him. Blitz... think like a thief would. See if you can outsmart that Nickit.

[Both Pokémon take off, the Plusle practically a blur as he runs to catch up with the fox.]

It's okay. We'll get you your bag back.

Oh, that happens with Static sometimes too. [ Her own Pachirisu pokes out from under her long hair, as he perches on her shoulder. ] Sometimes when that happens, I'll set up targets for him to try and hit so he can let it all out.

Oh, well, I've learned from a lot of people. Sometimes they'd teach me things, but a lot of it was just me watching what they did and seeing what went right... [A soft chuckle.] And what didn't. Then I started reading any cookbooks I could find, and eventually I started trying things myself.

Um... [Varian scoops Corrosion into his arms as he gets to his feet. He hadn't even noticed the signs of danger.] Okay, thanks I guess. You're a trainer too?

[He certainly hopes she's a trainer and not some kind of sorceress luring him to something creepy.]

[sonrise]

[Varian's smile is sheepish, but grateful all the same.]

Thank you. You know, I've had run-ins with tricky Pokemon before, but nothing like this.

[sonrise]

[Oh that was cute, seeing the Pachirisu come out from beneath her hair. Very much like Pascal and Rapunzel.]

Hey, that's a great idea. I bet I could even come up with something to make that even more fun for him, like... Maybe they could make sounds when he hits them!

[Does she look like Gothel to you?

...Don't answer that.]

Ah, a Breeder, actually. [But she will pause to scoop up Remy--who is just a bitty bitty baby creature who is doing the whines of I'M NOT TIRED MOM, I'M NOOOOT when scooped--and lead him towards a safer clearing.]

Did you just start out?

[sonrise]

Oh, a Breeder. Did you hatch that little guy from an egg?

[Because he's read about what breeders do, and how even more mammalian Pokemon hatch. And this little guy's behavior sure makes him seem like a baby, at least.]

I've only been here a few days. It's a pretty different place, so I'm trying to learn everything I can. That's what I was doing when I fell asleep.

Ohh, that's pretty cool. [Right? It sounds cool anyway.] You sound like you know a lot about it. More than me, anyway.

[A small, only slightly forced laugh.]

Not that that's... exactly hard right now.

[Then he cleared his throat and lapsed into a bit of a bashful silence.]

[He's going to make note of that, for sure. It almost reminds him of the Palismen, turning into staffs to get around on.

But for now, he sets that aside and moves on to the question, half shrugging.]

Not really, no. I've got antidotes in case I do get hit but really, this isn't much different from what I've done before.

[cardinaldirections]

Yeah, they're something else. [He can't succinctly say "Joltik's weird little face reminds him of the horrors (affectionate) that he'd see back on the Boiling Isles," so instead he suffices for-] They're definitely cute. [-while using his fingertip to scrub Volt's cheek. This elicits a happy little sound.]

I found him on a battery-powered lamp I have for camping. [He paused, trying to remember what the Pokedex said about Joltik.] Maybe he was trying to eat it...? I don't know, but he wanted to be part of my team.
