[She points to some marks around the base of the tree--Weevil burrows. Which means...]

Come morning, I doubt the Beedril are going to appreciate you here. Come. There are safer trees not far.

[It's probably not helping Naeva's case on not being spooky and suspicious--she's short, but her presence is like nine feet tall, and she's dressed rather elegantly for someone who knows so much about being out in the woods. Her eyes retained their inhuman pupils as much as their reflective quality. And, well.

Remy found a cape so he's practicing skulking about. Remy's no help whatsoever.]

Um... [Varian scoops Corrosion into his arms as he gets to his feet. He hadn't even noticed the signs of danger.] Okay, thanks I guess. You're a trainer too?

[He certainly hopes she's a trainer and not some kind of sorceress luring him to something creepy.]

[Does she look like Gothel to you?

...Don't answer that.]

Ah, a Breeder, actually. [But she will pause to scoop up Remy--who is just a bitty bitty baby creature who is doing the whines of I'M NOT TIRED MOM, I'M NOOOOT when scooped--and lead him towards a safer clearing.]

Did you just start out?

[sonrise]

Oh, a Breeder. Did you hatch that little guy from an egg?

[Because he's read about what breeders do, and how even more mammalian Pokemon hatch. And this little guy's behavior sure makes him seem like a baby, at least.]

I've only been here a few days. It's a pretty different place, so I'm trying to learn everything I can. That's what I was doing when I fell asleep.

Remy was the first pokemon I recieved. I haven't been here that much longer than you have, I'm afraid.

[She smiles a little, as Remy makes a sleepy whiny noise but manages to wave at Varian. The expression is slight but tremendously soft; whatever else she is, she adores this pokemon.]

I do understand the impulse...there's unfortunately fewer books about things to look out for while traveling. Seems many people who are born here assume it's obvious.

Oh, got it. I started with Corrosion. [He adjusts his hold on the Hisuian Zorua so her upper paws and head rest on his shoulder, so though she finally drops the ruse of sleeping and opens her eyes, he doesn't notice.] She's pretty cool, even if she acts out a lot-- Ow!

[Case in point, an offended Corrosion used her teeth to tug at Varian's hair. Varian gives a grunt but, frankly, is too tired to properly scold her.]

Uh... But anyway, it does seem like all the training and traveling has been part of life here for a really long time.

The pokemon all say that it's been this way as long as any of them can remember, and they seem to like it that way. Certainly, wild pokemon who don't wish to fight never need to...

[She holds a hand to her mouth to cover her faint laugh.] Oh, she's quite the perceptive young lady, I see.

[sonrise]

[Any comments on Corrosion's disposition will have to wait, as Varian looks at Naeva and blinks a couple times.]

What, what do you mean they say that?

...Well, I asked them?

[There's a long pause before she remembers something.]

Ah--I have always been able to communicate with animals. It seems pokemon count.

[sonrise]

Oh, awesome. I mean, yeah, I can communicate with Corrosion well enough; get what she's trying to say, but... Really talking to a Pokemon - or an animal, for that matter.... How'd you get to do that?

[Look, it's always something, right? A curse from a witch, a magic flower...]

[desirestruth]

Because I am beastkin. Much of my magic didn't...come with me when I came here, and I appear to be human now, but as I could take the form of a beast, it's only natural I could speak with them, isn't it?

[TURNS OUT SHE'S THE WITCH. ABORT, ABORT!]

[Though it's definitely a bit of a shock to hear, Varian knows enough magical people - including a preteen werewolf - that he's not too shaken, at least.]

I guess so... Actually, that part makes more sense than most magic does, if you ask me.

[desirestruth]

Magic is hardly ever interested in explaining itself. And why should it? We mortal beings are at it's mercy, not the other way around.

[She does chuckle a bit, but they've made it to a new clearing, and she glances around, like she's listening for something.]

...Ah, what luck. We may use this spot for the night. The regular owner isn't using it, but other pokemon won't disturb the place.

[Naeva are we camping in a Bewear's bed or something. Naeva? NAEVA????]
